  1. I will have to check them out.
  2. Im coming up on nearly six months without dairy and i have been slowly adding it back in over the past month. I havent had a problem with eggs as far as i can tell.
  3. At least they are honest! I called the falafel place and they were super helpful and the manager is like I AM VERY FAMILIAR with celiac disease, we take cross contamination very serious here. So that really set me at ease. I love the salads at au bon pain and it really sets me at ease that they make them in a new bowl everytime and right in front of me.
  4. That's interesting to know. We have been wanting to check out bonefish, there is a few in the area. But that will be for me and my huni, the girls arent adventurous enough to eat sea critters.
  5. Actually the au bon pain, I should add to the list of possible places. Its like a panera but they make this amazing salad that i love. They make it right in front of you and keep the crutons separate in little packets. The dressing is gluten free too and actually pretty low in sugar. Scoreeee
  6. The hospital thing is funny because when i was visiting someone in a hospital in morristown they have an au bon pain there, which actually has amazing food. I would totally voluntarily eat there.
  7. Karen- Are those places safe? As we know, im new and im still learning and I finally got my biopsy results and im petrified to eat out unless i know im going to be safe. I read alot of 'gluten free' menus online and they all have that warning about cross contamination. It's like why do you have a gluten free menu if you aren't sure there might be gluten?...
  8. I think there is a bit of detox symptoms related to cutting out gluten, im no expert its just something i have heard. How long has it been since your challenge?
  9. Penelope, are you saying that you feel like you have food cravings after you have been cross contaminated? Im not sure about the cross contamination and food cravings but I have noticed that I have had ridiculous hunger somedays for as long as i can remember. I assume its from not absorbing nutrients properly. I have heard every craving is associated...
  10. 2 friends are coming to visit tomorrow and when they visit Im very happy to see them! I usually go visit them in my hometown. I kindly order myself a glass of water with a straw of course, and simply enjoy their company. The thing is, back in my hometown there is virtually no options for someone who is a celiac. It is nearly unheard of. Where I live now,...
  11. I would also like to note that the pre op nurse called me on the phone specifically to ask if I had any dietary restrictions, I also brought a snack but they refused to let me eat it.
  12. I only eat my homemade chilli because I don't eat beef and no one makes a better Turkey chilli. I smoosh a few beans to thicken it. I will know better next time. When I worked in a fast food place like 10 years ago, we never fried fries in the same fryer as breaded items. Merely because the breaded items made the oil dark and made it so fries came out dark...
  13. Like I said, I'm still learning. I have no clue why a grill would have anything with gluten on it? Because I'm new to this. Guidance, not criticism would be appreciated. Also we traveled over an hour to a bbq with the host saying how prepared he is for cooking for celiac people and how he understands because his whatever has celiac. How about telling me how...
  14. The only thing I ate at the bbq was a rice salad made by another celiac. I went assuming there would be nothing, that's why I brought my own hummus and went out of my way to get some safe bread. Its very difficult some days. I know I can't trust dips, but I usually show up early saying I will help set up, but then If I bring my own veggies or crackers I can...
  15. I don't know why I bother to attempt to eat out. The boyfriend is very supportive of the gluten-free lifestyle, he even has a gluten sensitivity of some sort, but far less sensitive than myself. We went grocery shopping and since we were expecting friends over shortly after we got home, we stopped for lunch at Sonic. He got a banana milkshake and chilli cheese...
  16. I take gingko biloba. Im not sure if it helps, but its supposed to. my memory is terrible too.
  17. So just to keep you all posted. I went in at 6am for the endoscopy, after prep it was 7 am when i got wheeled into the operating room. They hooked me all up and the nurse put a mouth piece in my mouth and around my head and was telling me how its tight but she will loosen it up and WHAM, i don't remember a single thing after that till i woke up about 40 minutes...
  18. So we were visiting friends in the brookyln and I had to be a pain and insist on visiting jennifers way on E 10th in nyc. a 20 minute subway ride from 36th st and like a 20 minute walk from the 8th street station and we were there! I was a bit meh over the small selection. It was my dad to have some treats since I have been eating well with all the chicken...
  19. There is a cookie brand called WOW (without wheat) they have the best chocolate chip cookies that I have ever tasted, EVER. I am very impressed with your find!
  20. Probably totally wrong on the nutrition thing.
  21. The crackers were a joke! I got some glutino bagel chips and the bf took me to the farmers market and we got some amazing olives. I threw some in the nutritional bullet with some cannelini beans. White bean dip! I like it as much or more than hummus. I need to check, but the white beans might be more nutritious than chickpeas.
  22. I needed something in a package to go that didn't need to be refrigerated till opened, so I picked this up at stop & shop. Certified gluten free. The lentil crackers were super tasty, but there wasn't nearly enough of them. Hummus was roasted red pepper, tasty but too sweet. Agave was on the ingredients list. Why? Is Sabra hummus safe to eat...
  23. Oh beth! my friend is a model and has a recipe for grain free peanut cookies! I would imagine that you could add chocolate. I need to get that recipe!
  24. That's really good Beth. The support group should be good for u two. I really hope we make it to NYC on Sat, because I know I will probably find some really awesome gluten-free places there like Jennifer's bakery. just hope I'm feeling up to it!
  25. I just discovered that jennie O has a gluten free turkey keilbasa, so i might have to try this out soon in my slow cooker! Lmcdoiron- is there usually celery in it? Someone told me once that there was. Do they use smoked paprika for the color?
