  1. You wouldn't believe how many 'basic' blood panels I have had, it's not standard to test for celiac disease. Diabetes, thyroid issues and lyme disease seem to be the generic things they test for. I think this is the link about testing. I know there is some good info on the university of chicago's website also. https://www.celiac.com/articles/1108/1/Celiac...
  2. If you are having such severe problems, I would really suggest getting a sooner appointment with a general practicioner to have the simple blood test for celiac run. That way you can know sooner and stop having horrible symptoms. Your symptoms and the list of symptoms from your family members does sound like it might be celiac. I was able to link celiac to...
  3. We have a bakery around here that is the same. They make the most delicious sweets. I was very concerned but I looked them up and many celiacs said they were safe. I stop by sometimes to get a cupcake and I have never had a problem. They also keep the gluten free foods in separate cases to ensure there is no confusion.
  4. I have some pattypan squash so I think im going to make this skinnytaste turkey santa fe zuchinni boats. I will probably make some changes, including adding some cooked potatoes to the mix. I would like it to be a full meal, not just a side dish. Im actually super excited to try something new for the second night in a row. Last night the bf made some sticky...
  5. Im cooking my millet for today and tomorrows breakfast right now. It is amazing. The texture is slightly different but I do love it for breakfast. I tried certified gluten free oatmeal and it was tasty of course, but It lead to me having symptoms of eating gluten, including D, heartburn and extreme fatigue! I said NO THANK YOU! and bought some millet the...
  6. I have arthritis all over so I take them occasionally. When I have injured my foot in the past, I was told to actually take 800! because that is what the prescription dose of ibuprofen is. I always make sure to eat a full meal when I take anything like that, and drink a full glass of water, otherwise you can have stomach problems. Unrelated to celiac, like...
  7. Everytime I see that dump cakes infomercial, I become a giggling five year old. I just can't keep it together, something in the way she says it. I was in walgreens the other day and I saw the dumpcakes book next to a package of fiber one.. I lost my mind with laughter.
  8. Yes! I have been told that measuring by gram might yield better results. That is one aspect that I am just starting to look into.
  9. Im working on making my own cup for cup flour with some actual nutrition. Im hoping to make some freezer waffles or pancakes when I finally decide how I want to make my flour.
  10. If you are having a problem with dairy, the isolate is usually ok. Sucralose personally bothers me if I have too much. If it bothers you then it's not because it's dstroying your insides with gluten. Which is always good to know. I have there is absolutely no such thing as "normal", everyone reacts differently to things.
  11. I noticed a big difference in my stools after a week or so. They firmed up a bit. I mostly had D, but throughout my life my stools were rarely normal. If I didn't have loose stools I had C. During times when I was stressed and ate terribly I had a lot of D with urgency too. I would have to eat early in the am and plan on using the bathroom 4-5 Times before...
  12. I have been thinking about making my own toaster waffles. I know pancakes are good made and frozen, then toasted, so why not waffles? Waffle irons are fairly inexpensive.
  13. It is the strangest thing. I have nearly the same exact problem with coffee, less nasal drip. I have experimented very thoroughly.
  14. I was able to devise a plan pretty quickly, luckily we had just done our weekly shopping and had meals planned. Millet is gluten free as far as I know. Bob's red mill is marked gluten free, not certified but they are tested. I have never had a problem with their products that are marked gluten free. Millet is much easier for me to digest than oats, but I...
  15. We had a death in the family and I had to go up and stay for a night (2 full days) I managed to be able to cook some things the night before to bring. I tried to make sure the items had a few common ingredients like onion, garlic, carrot and corn. That made prep a bit easier. I made Corn Chowder (potato and chicken stock base with onion, garlic, carrot...
  16. I was reading that if you have symptoms from chicken eggs, you will likely have the same problem with all eggs. So sad. I will try my brothers eggs soon, like you said though I dont want to rock the boat since ive been feeling well. Same goes for experimenting with whites and yolks. I hope I don't develop a problem with chicken meat, I dont eat beef or pork...
  17. That aha! moment when you finally figure out why you have been in excruciating pain (just pain, no D or C associated) for nearly 8 months. I have been experimenting for months with my foods to figure out why I was having pain under my rib cage, off to the left a bit. I discovered a couple months ago that it was coffee, but even though the pain was less severe...
  18. I did find that after 2 weeks my energy level did improve. I had the opposite problem with appetite though. I have felt like a bottomless pit for years. There was a time several years ago when I just ate and ate and I kept losing weight. It seemed like I was buying new jeans every week. Then a few years ago, I was still eating the same way and I was under...
  19. I don't even go to coffee houses because I can't drink coffee and im afraid to drink from a mug because I dont trust that people clean them properly and I'd feel like a fool drinking hot tea from a mug with a straw. I hang with my family for fun, invite my friends over for a chat and cook us up something delightful, or buy some premade gluten free treats...
  20. I get gluten free bread on occasion. Most of the UDI's varieties are egg and dairy free too, which is nice, same with schar. If you like sourdough I like the schar 'deli style bread slices' they look like rye and there's like 5 in a pack, I think they taste like sourdough. I actually noticed that for the past month or so I don't even crave gluteny stuff like...
  21. I have had their gelato before and never had any problems. Short ingredient lists make me happy.

NY Presbyterian has a Celiac disease center. They are supposed to be VERY good. I will be going there in sept.
  23. That's interesting. I assume you are trying to suggest leaky gut when you talk about the antibodies? The doctor made no mention of that but I have heard alot of doctors are knowledgeable about it. I have just recently discovered eggs are a problem for me. I haven't tried to see if it is yolks or whites or what. Right now, Im just avoiding them because they...
  24. I have always made coffee at home, we are fancy coffee people so we always felt like we could make it better at home. We only do milk and sugar (no problems with a little dairy or sugar). Through my journaling and experimenting, I decided that today was my last day eating eggs. Tomorrow im hoping for a good day with no problems. I guess I will leave those...
  25. I guess we all have things we aren't crazy about. For example, I think blueberries are ok, I like them, but could live without them if needed. Strawberries and cherries I love more couldn't live without. I stopped eating beef, pork and chicken nearly 10 years ago because it never agreed with me, that is one thing Im really chicken about! Mainly because they...
