I am sure you are on the right step. Are you the one with the stubborn son? If so, has he come around yet?

I think Second Cup is a Canadian company and that is their own brand. I was so sick and my stomach still hurts from it, I honestly thought it was okay but it didn't take more than 5 min for me to have a violent reaction.
-
Jamaican and Cuban Rum are gluten-free actually all rum is but those are the best rums. I will drink some for you if I recover from today's glutening. I hope we make it off the ground with the rotten weather we have been having.
-
I know that some artificial flavors are gluten-free but obviously this one is not. The brand is Second Cups own brand of hot chocolate. It is called Second Cup something or other, you can only get it at their stores.
-
Tomorrow I probably won't be on here before I leave for Jamaica. So, I will talk to everyone when I get back next Sunday. I will be querying resorts etc., as to gluten-free fare.
-
I read the ingredients on the hot chocolate and thought it was okay. Except for some reason I missed the "artificial flavor". Well, I had a small cup of hot chocolate and didn't even get halfway through when I started to prespire heavily and get extreme pains in my stomach. Then I was running for the mall bathroom with "D" and nausea. Be ye warned the flavor is what it is in.

I believe for people who have no symptoms it is much harder for them than, for us who do suffer. It is also more difficult fo those who are trying to cook dinners with gluten for some of their family and for those who can't have gluten. They are getting glutened by accident while making food for them and it is hard on them, it is like having an alcoholic work in a distillery.
I personally would not cheat because that is me and I don't enjoy pain as I said before. However, I do not believe any adult has a right to tell another adult what they can do, eat, read or watch. The exceptions to that is committing crimes, child pornography, bestiality and anything related to those things.
What a person eats, wears, reads, is no businesss of mine. I do not wish to control everyone and make them eat what I do because I can't have what they can. On the same token if they have this disease and the wish to cheat so be it, they are not harming me, they are harming themselves. I do understand that they are having a tough time staying gluten-free and they have to make peace with that on their own accord. It is none of my business if a person wishes to harm themselves with liquor, food, cigarettes or whatever. The only time I would intervene is if it was to personally affect me or those I love.A person has to do what they have to do and deal with their issues on their own terms.

I have always clenched and ground my teeth awake or asleep. I couldn't wear a guard at night because my tongue would kick it out and I would start to choke. During waking hours my tongue would flip the guard out of my mouth when I was talking and I became adept at catching it in mid air. I broke teeth, so many times. However, now thanks to the diseae totally destroying my teeth, there are not that many to grind anymore.
-
I have never cheated and never plan to because I don't like suffering. Cheating would cause me suffering. Everytime I think I miss pizza, I make my gluten-free pizza. If I miss certain things in Chinese food, I have them make me something I can have that I like equally as well. I have enough problems with accidental glutenings, I don't need to cheat.

Geeze, I can relate to the sitting in the doctors office for hours. I used to have a doctors appoint with a previous doctor. It was booked for 9 am, I had to book the whole day off work because I would never get in till 6 pm. I figured it was maybe snotty office staff you were having problems with.
You have problems, a doctor that doesn't care and the other one who makes you wait most of your life. It is important to get your son diagnosed. Could you possibly call the old docs office, leave a message saying it is very important that he call you back. Then embellish the problem so he will see your son sooner. Of course with this disease no embellishing is needed. Either that or searc for another doctor and that is also difficult.

I had mine removed a loooong time ago when scars were huge. It is not big deal and better to be taken out.

I need to find out where that celiac disease player so, we can all play our celiac disease's in it.
-
I use cornstarch it is cheap and easy to find and is good.
-
I can so relate to your problems. When I was a bus driver most of my routes there were no bathrooms on them. So, I would have to take immodium and never eat because I could not take the chance of not being near a bathroom. I hate to say it but jobs like these are not for people like us.

You stand a very good chance of finding gluten-free food there because 1) it is in BC and 2) it is close enough proximity to Vancouver. I will be talking to my sister soon, so I will ask her for you, if she knows of any.

Hi Julie,
Welcome to the board. This is a great place for information and support.

I have to concur on the Kitchen Aid. I got mine about five years ago, and it is terrific.

Wear a mask and gloves. However, I would make a gluten-free cake and not tell anyone it is gluten-free. Why endanger your health and if gluten-free is good enough for you then it is good enough for everyone else.

whoops migraine headache today and ignore previous post.
-
I am going to say something you may not like. Dump this pedi, go back to the old one and just ignore the office staff. Which is more important, your sons health or dealing with office staff.

When my friend got divorced we had a party, made a cake shaped like a boot. I decorated with "She gave him the Boot." Written on in, it was a "Boot Party."

This is the letter I got from Moxie's today.
Dear Randi-Lee,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding gluten free options at Moxie's.
Moxie's menus do offer items that are prepared without wheat, and many of
our other options can be altered to meet your dietary needs. We at Moxie's
take food allergies and sensitivities very seriously, and there are
established protocols in place at all stores. Each of our restaurants has
an internal guide for making gluten-safe menu suggestions, and our staff
will be happy to assist you. When you visit any Moxie's, simply let your
server know about your allergy, and the menu item you would like to order,
and our kitchen will double check both recipes and ingredient lists to
ensure that your menu selection is safe.
The fact that product ingredients can change, and that there are regional
differences in preparation prohibits us from offering any allergy-friendly
menus. Our practice of checking each and every time that an allergy is
identified ensures our guests a safe dining experience.
I hope this is of assistance.
Best regards,
John Humphreys,
Executive Chef

I am glad someone got an answer because they have not yet answered my emails.
So in view of the fact that they did not answer my email immediately I am going to sue them. Also I am going to sue all the dumb people I had to talk to on the phone, the city for not plowing the roads before I left for work and all the dumb drivers who cut me off and drove like sausages. I am going to sue all the men on my street for not rushing out to meet me when I came home, carry my bags and carry me to my door. I am preparing to sue everyone tomorrow also for assorted things.

I have a few lasange recipes that do not use ricotta or vinegar. I have never heard of vinegar in lasagne...that is kinky.

I didn't get rolling eyes when I asked specific questions. I got deer in the headlights looks. I think mainly because 3/4 of what works at these places now doesn't speak English. The staff roll over is phenominal at these minimum wage places.
