  1. Believe me what I have gone through this weekend because suntan lotion had it in it, I will never forget. I am still having problems and this was not just my wheat allergy but my Celiac and an allergy to another substance. After my calling the company and getting their assurance their was no gluten or wheat in it. It sounds like you also have a wheat allergy.

  2. The Celebrity one for 7 days sounds good so far. Because I would like to see a slight bit of places I haven't been to before. With the Holland one floating about for 7 days and not leaving the boat would drive me nuts and I would start looking for animals, thinking I was Noah.

  3. I had a wonderful weekend. I tried some new suntan lotion for the sun tan machines, because I need a base tan before I get to jamaica. Well I contacted the company who said there was no wheat or wheat gluten in it. Well, I tried it on my leg, it felt like my flesh was burning off, welts rose on my leg and I quickly had a shower. However, my face swelled up and was burning, I have a killer headache and runny nose, then my stomach started burning and the big D started to come back. I believe along with my wheat allergy which has probably gotten worse since going gluten-free and my Celiac, along with maybe something else chemical.

At first I thought I had the flu but the doctor said it was a very violent allergic reaction and it more than likely had wheat in it somewhere. I read every label and still it happens.

  4. Has anyone here travelled with Celebrity?

I know someone who just came back from a cruise on the Holland line and they said they were treated like royalty.

Once we get price and everything worked up I can talk to the association here about putting it in the newsletter and on the website. Plus there are a lot of free papers that I could send something into about i

  5. I think it is a great idea. It would of course be a different price for us Canadians. We don't want to be visiting the Caribbean after the end of April because it is hurricane season until the beginning of October. So, I think April is a fine time to go. I am up for 2008 I don't care if it is Eastern or Western Caribbean, I would love to go to the Galapagos Islands but that is South America and very pricey. 7 or 11 days, don't care which. Seven days is probably better for most.

  6. HI Nini

how did you know they got 100% on their inspection? Did you ask or see a placque or certificate..?

My friend and i have a date for wendy's every 3 months and I've eaten there since being dx and and it's been ok. Last tues I got sooooo sick thought it might be the cc and did eat a 1/2 of tube of sour cream on b/potato and am trying NOT to eat milk products. I haven't been tested for specific allergies sooooo.

I guess we're back to the same old same old......who fixes it, how careful they are, I know the girl taking my order had not idea what i was talking about and even showed her the wendy's print out..she still didn't get it. guess I should have asked for the manager oh Nini it gets so dang hard doesn't it???

My Mom used to live a couple of blocks from the wendy's corporate office in Ohio and we always knew they were to best and safest place to go

Let me know how you ck'd the inspection thing. I'd be interested in ck'n mine out but might have been the s cream.

    enjoy your weekend.

Judy, your cute fat cat looks just like my cute fat Thor.

  7. I have two cats, one who likes to kiss me like I kiss her. The only way I get glutened is from the litter box because all clay and clumping liters that do not flush have wheat in them to keep the smell down. I wear gloves and a mask to clean the box and then wash right after. Their food is not a problem for me, as I don't plan on eating it.

  8. Lollie,

I am sorry your mother is not getting this. Some people are afraid of the unknown and it is better to bury their heads in the sand than seeing things for what it really is. My worry was my mother also but I did it in a way she could really understand. I used her medication, without it she could die. I told her I would eat a little gluten if she would not take her medicine for a week.

  9. Way to go Lynne, thanks a lot. I don't have a lot of time to do the things I like which includes writing a lot of these companies. Some I have written to do not write back or send snotty messages like P & G.

Part of my business involves makeup and other stuff. Much of the make up NAO and Artistry both have numerous things that do not contain Wheat or gluten in them, in case anyone needs to know.

The major problem even for me is to find shampoo and conditioner that does not contain some form of wheat. The only one I have found so far is Joico.

Now perfecting making my own shampoo and deoderant, just as I have done with bar soap and lotions I make that are wheat and gluten free. I started doing this because of my own allergies before the dx. This way I know what it is in it and don't have to search and destroy. I am now going into making my own makeup when I get back from Jamaica.

  10. You may also have to wipe down your desk at work or any equipement if shared with others. I kept getting sick and my DH would crop up within hours from crumbs on the desk that I didn't know were there. So to avoid having that problem again, I put on my vinyl gloves and wipe everything down on the desk I am using; mouse, keyboard, telephone, everything. I have not had a problem at work since doing that.

Also every once in a while I have a run of the big D but I have only been gluten-free two months. I know it will take quite awhile before things fall into place but my symptoms got increasingly worse over the last 8 years. The last two were phenominally horrible with the big D and DH all over my face, pains etc. It is so nice not to have a face that makes me feel like a leper and spend my time hanging out in washrooms. Before when I ate I knew I had to be at a washroom in ten minutes or less. It is nice not to live with the "will I make it to a washroom in time" fear.

We all understand what you are going through here. I think of it as there is tons of years of gluten built up in my body it will take awhile to get it all out.
