  1. They said that all of their products except the 2 listed are gluten free. I don't see how this is a CYA?
  2. Dinner for 2, gluten free bread to start (grilled and garlic and cheese I think). They have a unique hot stone cooking stone and I had that with steak, daughter had pistachio crusted tuna. She said it was the best thing ever. Shared some gluten-free cheesecake for dessert...YUM!!! $42 plus tip .
  3. It's about 6 blocks or so from the clinic---easy walk if the weather works. I thought the prices were very reasonable, especially for gluten-free food. I think our dinner bills were in the $35 range (2 people). I'll be eating there tonight, and probably tomorrow night too
  4. Eating out in big towns doesn't work usually either. Unless you can find a gluten free restaurant, with a dedicated kitchen, it's really hit or miss. In the past couple weeks, even normally reliable places have been bad for me. It's just not worth it.
  5. How old is your daughter? Is she menstruating?
  6. You need a new GI if she thinks your numbers are "slightly elevated". Slightly elevated would be 21, not 199. Personally I'd skip the scope and just move to a gluten-free diet.
  7. We have a request for stew when our oldest comes to visit for Christmas! Almost done with the Christmas baking. I want to do some turtles using Rolo candy and gluten-free pretzels. I'm debating about making mini cheesecakes too. I'm running out of time so we will see. I have to get some real food bought and prepped too. We have one family get together...
  8. Yes!!! Love that place!!!
  9. So tell people you do have a diagnosis. If they don't care enough about you to believe that your are going through what you are going through, to heck with them and just tell them you have Celiac.
  10. Did both labs have the same scale for testing? It could be one lab has a lower control number so it looks like they doubled when they really did not. Say one lab uses 1-10 and the other lab uses 1-20. A 4 in the first lab and an 8 in the second would be the same result.
  11. I know people will disagree but it's not like your intestines are going to heal in a week. If they did, we could all eat gluten from time to time with no ill effects. I'd call and see if you can get your scope moved up too. And do you need the scope--obviously you can't eat gluten so whether you have Celiac or not, it doesn't really matter what your...
  12. Pulling this up. I just made these cookies. They were pretty easy to work with for gluten-free cookies. I divided the dough into three balls and wrapped in plastic wrap and put them in the fridge. When they were firm, I was able to roll out each ball and bake. They were not too sticky and were pretty easy to get off the wax paper and transferred to the...
  13. I ended up getting the KA Pro 600. So far, so good. I've used it to make a couple batches of gluten-free cookies. It sure is handy for mixing that heavy cookie dough!! I'm looking forward to using it for potatoes and other things I've mixed by hand in the past.
  14. My biggest frustration is just not having anywhere to go out to eat that I can trust 100%. Ok, Red Robin is good, but it's burgers and french fries. There is a restaurant in MN that is gluten-free (and gluten food) but the owner is Celiac and her staff is supremely trained. They have a HUGE menu with unique foods that are amazing. I REALLY wish she would...
  15. I've tried vitamins and get a stomach ache from them as well. I just try to eat well. I'm not sure why being in MN prevents you from eating well but I try to spend some time on the weekends cutting up vegetables and other healthy foods so they are easy to grab for snacks or toss in a bag for work or whatever. I usually have sugar snap peas, cut up peppers...
  16. He did add Xanthan gum...forgot that above. I copied the recipe out of the book--gluten recipe.
  17. He scoops with a tablespoon so that is good. We will try less flour too.
  18. Can you post the roll out sugar cookie recipe
  19. The post heading should be "cookies" LOL We used our regular recipe and subbed the flour mix we have. The flour mix is Superfine brown rice flour, Potato starch, Tapioca starch. Peanut Butter Chocolate Kiss Cookies 1 cup butter or shortening (we use shortening) 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp...
  20. I don't know if it is just the way it is with gluten-free baking but we just made some thumbprint cookies (with the Hershey Kiss cookies and peanut butter). They taste fine but are a bit dry/crumbly. Is that just par for the course with gluten-free flour mixes or is there something we can do to make them less dry. DH does most of the baking and is a very...
  21. Well, if you read them one way, you have Celiac . That last IGA number is strange but you could say that all of the numbers show that if you are greater than 25 you are Celiac and your numbers are greater than or equal to 50 .
  22. I'd go back for testing where you are now. I would also think that they could still talk to you--or at least email you the full report-for the tests you've had done. Do they have an online system there where you can look up your test results? Maybe there is better info there???
  23. I actually ended up using the "I Can't Believe it's Gluten Free" sugar cookie recipe. The cookies are VERY good, however, it is not a good cut-out sugar cookie recipe. I only made a small batch just to try. Question about the superfine sugar--we have just regular Crystal sugar, is that close enough or are you talking about powdered sugar? I have...
  24. You should bring your own food anyway. It's just not worth being sick. I ate at a place on Friday where the owner's mom is Celiac, she seemed knowledgeable, mostly soups and sandwiches, understood CC, the whole 9 yards.....ok, should have checked the food out more but I had a bowl of her soup, it was fantastic, but, found out she used cream of mushroom...
  25. Which numbers are your numbers and which are the lab control numbers?
