  2. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 2 1/2 years ago and have done pretty well with my diet since. Now it seems I'm having major problems with dairy. I am going to try to cut out the dairy for a while because I've heard that there may be a link between Celiac and Dairy intollerance. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if the pills for lactaid intollerance work or not.

The pills for lactose digestion might help if your problem is with the milk sugar lactose, but won't if your problem is with the protein casein. I definitely have an intolerance to the casein so can't have dairy in any instance. Years ago I tried lactaid milk and pills and they helped a little, but I still had problems and never knew why until I tested last year and found the casein intolerance.

  3. Welcome Julie!!!

I know now you feel about being taken...it really seems sometimes like that's what's happening. I DO think supplements can help some people, but I don't think they're always the answer for some of us. There are several of us here who are struggling to find all the answers. For me personally, I improved a great deal after cutting out the gluten and dairy (both of which I showed intolerance to on the stool testing by enterolabs)...for instance, I used to have nearly continuous sinus infections before that, but after cutting out the gluten/dairy haven't had even one in almost a year! Still I am not completely well either...the struggle to find out why is sometimes frustrating...so just really wanted to welcome you and to say that there are quite a few of us out there still trying to find all the missing pieces (if you are brave you can check out the VERY long thread "OMG, I think I can eat dairy again" thread (it's almost 500 pages long now, lol)...there is a lot of chatter there, but there is also a lot of information from those of trying to find the missing pieces)!

  4. Umm I'm not sure this is a thread for getting help. To me it seems to have devolved into a thread of chatting and socializing for friends of Rachelville.

I'm only staying tuned to find out Rachel's test results. Which may prove educational for me.

We're trying to keep it on track...just don't always succeed...I'm guilty of that and I apologize!

    Donna,

    Thats great!!

Is the same Dentist there?? Dr. Adams?? I got a letter in the mail last year announcing his retirement.

Thats awesome if hes still there....he was REALLY nice and thorough and helpful in every way. He was actually more thorough with me then ANY doctor I'd seen up to that point. He was the first to tell me about my diet and what I needed to be eating. He looked at everything...not just my mouth. It was actually my turning point. He spent alot of time during my consult....over an hour and I still recall much of the info. he gave me. It turned out to be THE most important appointment I'd had....probaly during this whole mess. I got the most out of it anyway and by following his advice I was able to get myself well enough to return to work!! I really cant say enough good things about this guy...I hope you have the same experience!

Yes, he is still there. Dr. Adams...I think there IS another dentist there as well, but Dr. Adams works two days a week. (lol, she said that three times because I kept saying "I thought he retired"--I'm telling you she must have thought I was nuts...I thought it best to leave out the part that my "friend" who referred me is someone I haven't actually met in person  ) I'm excited about it! Don't know what will come of it, and not sure I can afford the work for a while, but we can talk about all that at the consult.

Also I'm excited because I had a biocompatibilty test there back when he removed the last 2 amalgam fillings. I never actually got a copy of the results and I'll probably be needing them in the future. They could be helpful. I'd thought that since he'd retired I would not be able to get the records...he should still have them right?? Its been 2 years now but at least the place is still there.

I wanna go talk to him again if I'm not happy with what the new Doc has to say about mercury or if he prolongs testing. Dr. Adams is familiar with all the doctors who will provide chelation and are knowledgeable about mercury....I think its a good sign that my new doc knows Dr. Adams and said good things about him.

Great! I hope he still does the testing. It's reassuring that your new doctor has heard of and says good things about him. They're sending me stuff in the mail to fill out before I go and she already took my insurance info even though I'm pretty sure it WON'T be covered. But, from what I understand, it's better to do the removal slowly anyway, right? Now, I just have to tell my regular dentist it's all over, lol...it's like breaking up.

Both of you (you and Donna) keep us posted as to how things are going.

    Donna,

I should find out about the families allergy test results sometime around the 18th also (I hope anyway).

Wow, hopefully good news all around on the 18th then!!! I really should get some more thorough testing done...haven't been tested for anything other than the standard allergins (environmental) and standard foods.

  5. the only thing I've heard about hair color is that the blacks and browns cause bladder cancer...heard this from my friend's mom, a breast cancer survivor...dont' know if this is true or not.

I'll find out for you, lol...been dying my dark brown for years now...

And, re the rashes and whatnot...my hairdresser DOES have some clients who are allergic to the dyes, so she has to kind of rotate them (the dyes, not the clients, lol). I've heard that before from friends too. I don't know if I am or not (so hard to tell), but I can't give up my dye...no no no! No gray for me!

  6. Well, I just made an appointment with Rachel's dentist, lol. October 18th for a mercury consultation. Lady probably thought I was nuts, lol...I wasn't actually expecting to have the number work and when they answered I was kind of dumbfounded, cuz that meant I actually had to speak. Then I said, um, I thought the doctor retired...then said, um, I'm not sure what I want, but I have a mouth full of metal and probably shouldn't!!  She was sweet and said, well that's what he does.

  7. Donna,

I've read that there's like 125 symptoms associated with mercury toxicity.....probably because it can affect virtually anything in the body. I've seen dizziness and low blood pressure on all the mercury symptom lists but those can be found on so many other lists as well....you know how that goes. Seems like EVERYTHING causes the same symptoms.

I think the main things that stick out for me are timing, circumstances surrounding when symptoms arised, the mouth symptoms (tasting metal, excessive saliva, etc) and then the exclusion of all the other possibilities. It just all fits....plus there is my gut instinct that has told me for 3 years now that the dental work started all this.

I think because of the nature of how I *think* I got poisoned (with the two different metals being in contact and causing reactions)....the symptoms came on very fast and very strong....making it more obvious that something was going on in my mouth. Thats whats always stuck out in my mind the most....and then the development of autoimmune stuff after these symptoms began. It just makes sense to me.

Today would have been the day of my appt. had it not been for the bloodwork mishap. :(

I'm too wound up ever since they ordered the test for Lyme and then having to wait it out....I cant relax ever since....moving my appt. hs made everything worse for me. Not sure why....I've already waited 4 years but one more week is really doing me in. I tell myself its only one week...but it sure isnt working.

I have a lot of the same issues...I started getting sick many years ago but it really hit hard about 3.5 to 4 years ago...I had a root canal done about 10 years ago, then after that had several fillings redone and at least two or 2 of my crowns...then I started getting really sick, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the dental work hasn't caused at least some of this.

I don't blame you for having a hard time with this...it's hard to be so very close to finding out something definitive and then having to wait. I felt that same way when I was waiting to hear about the pathology reports from Dr. R. I couldn't even make it through a weekend! I think my friend couldn't understand why I cancelled a trip...I just wouldn't have been able to concentrate on anything except the results! So, don't feel like there's anything wrong with wanting to know NOW, lol.

  8. how do you cover the gray in your hair, but still keep the natural highlight colors in your hair----please tell me it can be done!!!

I see a professional, lol. She somehow does it. I ocassionally get more pronounced highlighting done (hence the nearly blonde hair last summer), cuz sometimes I like it chunky, but if I just do my normal thing every 5 weeks, she does the color and somehow I have subtle lights and darks but no gray. I think it's because she just puts the color mostly near the roots, but then combs it through a little just at the end before she puts the plastic cap on and sits me under the dryer. My whole process, hair cut, color, dryer, styling and all takes just about exactly one hour.

  9. I am a very dark brunette (well - it's half-gray now) and it always turns slightly reddish - I hate that! A man complimented my "auburn/reddish" hair the other day, and I said, wait, does it really look reddish?? Dang. in certain light, it does...

Am so scared to do highlights...... :o

Me too...although I think I am all the way gray now...don't know, haven't seen natural hair color since my 20s, lol Anyway, my hairdresser managed to get me some blond highlights...in fact for a while last summer I was almost all blonde!

  10. LOL Richard!!! Yep, bought some of the K bagels...fortunately only 4 to a package...but those were gone in mere minutes, lol.

Okay, so I went to the website Rachel posted and right there was a list of the symptoms...I think Rachel posted these once before, but I had forgotten what was on that list as opposed to all the other lists that I've seen in the last few months, lol. 11. Donna,

Awhile back you asked about the mercury-free dentist I saw. I'm pretty sure he retired cuz I recall getting something in the mail announcing it. I was just doing a search on mercury-related stuff and ended up on his webpage. I'm like "Hey....thats the guy!".

Anyways heres the link...I dont know if the place is still there or what. I think he might have sold the dentristry to someone else in the same field...not positive though. If you're interested you could probably find out. They were really knowledgeable about this stuff there.

    Open Original Shared Link

Thanks Rachel! I'm definitely thinking I should at least go in and see them...I don't know if mercury could cause the dizziness and the low blood pressure, but I seem to be healthy as far as blood tests are concerned. :( I've book marked this and will spend more time there in a bit.

    Carla,

Nothing so "sensible" ever works with me. <_<

I would go back to the freezer...take out more donut...*not* wait for it to thaw (that would take too long)...throw it in the microwave and eat it.

Then I'd be upset cuz there was no more donut.....I'd go buy more and then Rachel the heck out of them.

I ate a frozen cookie yesterday...apparently freezing stuff doesn't work with me...wonder why I have so many cracked teeth.:lol:

and OMG Cliff Bars are the BEST...especially the chocolate ones...when they're covered in peanut butter

    Amen SISTER!!!

  12. Late to the party as usual, lol. Favorite movies...I tend to like purely entertainment type movies...nothing too deep for me...love action, romance, etc. Favorite movies: The Three Musketeers (with Charlie Sheen and Keifer Sutherland), The American President, Eraser, Broken Arrow, any of Harrison Fords action stuff like Air Force One, Pirates of the Caribbean, and LOVE While you Were Sleeping, Speed, the list goes on and on, lol. Haven't seen 50 first dates, but it looked cute.
