  1. I've had three endoscopes since April and didn't feel anything on any of them except for a slight sore throat afterwards...I mean slight too. I can't remember a single thing about any of the three procedures except being wheeled into the room and then waking up in the recovery area. The worst part of the whole thing for me was the needle prick for the IV...and that was just a needle prick. The first scope I was sedated heavily because they also did a colonoscopy at the same time; it took a long time for me to come out of it, but the last two (endoscopes only) I came out quickly (according to my mother who has had the pleasure of being there with me all three times, lol).

Where is the pain you feel? I had pain in my knees for several months which improved a LOT after going gluten free...I now only ocassionally have a pain in the knee, whereas before going gluten/dairy free I had it every day. I get a pain in my abdomen from time to time which is excruiating where no position helps. My doctor couldn't find anything during the colonoscopy so determined I have IBS, lol.

  2. Susan - I love reading your journal entries! :D My family is a bit different too...we are not really close. My mom has two brothers that live nearby and she's only seen the one 4 times in the last 40 years or so and the other we only see about 1 time a year. The only family member I see regularly is my mother and aunt. Like you I have friends that are much closer than most of my family.

Penguin - gosh, the thought of chemistry makes me shudder...course I bet I could hsve learned a thing or two about how to rid Rachelville of all those pesky pests had I only taken it.

  3. Donna,

I hope you continue to improve throughout the day. I know the heat can sap a lot out of you. I would have thought your blood sugar would have been affecting the shaking.....did you eat enough protein, drink enough water yesterday?

I think I had enough protein. At the end of the day my protein was around 20% I think. I do know that my body does seem to need a lot of protein. By the time I left work I had had 4 glasses of water, plus one at home before I left for work. I drank at least two more (probably a bit more) glasses at home in the afternoon. It feels so much like a blood sugar issue but the numbers always come up normal. As soon as I got home I made some chicken soup with some brown rice rotini...the shaking stopped after I ate. It really hadn't been THAT long since I'd eaten (maybe about 4 hours) and I had only just started to get hungry. For breakfast I had two boiled eggs with mayo (for egg salad) plus some soy milk--I had something else too but can't remember now. For mid-morning lunch I had ground beef with a veggie blend of broccoli, cauliflower & carrots.

  4. Ryan - sorry to hear about the big fight!

Miamia - glad to hear you are doing well, especially after your trip!

Penguin - you can start your own cooking school for celiac chefs. :D

Susan - how are you today?

Hi everyone else...I know I'm missing a bunch of people and I'm sorry!

If the alien baby is being passed around I think I got the "morning sickness". I had to leave work early yesterday because I was sooo lightheaded and dizzy and was slightly nauseated and by the time I got home, was so VERY shakey I could hardly function. I tested my blood sugar which was 85 (that's in the normal range) and I checked my blood pressure which was pretty low (like 90/44 or something--wrote it down but it's at home). Felt pretty bad until around 6:45 when I turned my air conditioning on. Felt a bit better after that, but went to bed at 7:40 or so. Feeling better so far this morning, but am still a little lightheaded. So, don't know what is up what all that, but I was in no mood for those ants this morning, lol. They're history now.

Oh yah...so glad to hear about Megan!!!! :)

  5. Thanks guys. If truth be told, it really, really is starting to get to me...... :(

In fact, one of the reasons I took a "sabbatical" from here for awhile was because I was starting to feel like a hypocrite, posting to all the newbies the things that you should be doing to get yourself better, yet it hasn't helped me to do the same...... How can I be a good example when my response to the gluten free diet has been a total failure????? I started to feel that I was just a shining example of "Celiac Disease Gone Wild", and if people came here to get re-assurance that all will get better once they are gluten-free, then I would only be a constant reminder that sometimes their is sooooo much damage done that a gluten free diet is worthless at this point.......

The diarrhea is very nocturnal. In fact, that is when it is most active. It will wake me up around 2 a.m. and be VERY active with cramping in between explosive diarrhea, right up until it settles down around 6 a.m. That's why alot of my posts are during the night! :P It is just such a part of me now that I can't imagine what life would be like otherwise......

I would love to be able to put my trademark "This too shall pass........", but I don't think it will........

So now you guys know why I have been so quiet in recent months........

Gosh, how awful...I'm so sorry you are going through all this!

  6. OMG, I LOVE these shows, have my British telly Sat. nights quite often, esp. in Monterey. "As Time Goes By" is my favorite....used to watch "are you being served" w/ my cranky grandma.....my nieces all watch these shows since the oldest girl had/has a british boyfriend and she's lived there three summers (near Manchester).....Robbin, are you my twin????

I like all those shows too.

I talked to my sister about three weeks ago...she was okay at that time...hum, maybe I should call her again. Didn't hear about rock slides, or at least didn't pay attention...

  7. p.s. donna - where do you live, and where near Yosemite does your sister live? Used to go to Yosemite every other weekend, at least....*sigh*

Will be keeping you and your family in prayer as well! I live in Campbell and my sister lives near Mariposa...about 30 miles away from Yosemite. I don't get up there much...did I mention I was lazy. :P

  8. There will be NOOO spiders in Rachelville!!! I think we are all in agreement as far as that goes. ;)

Oh...and if one happens to slip past the geese and dingos...we will send Donna to "relocate" the critter. Ummmm...yes, remember to be delicate with them Donna.

You can count on me! I AM in charge of security after all--I think that could fall somewhere under my authority.

I disagree with Cissie, here. We've got to have bats! They'll be hair-hating bats and will help pollenate our crops. Um, let's make them purple and glittery, just for a little flair!! They will also never go within 100 feet of Susan. Somebody's got to help the overtaxed geese and dingos

Susan, be like batman! Remember why he chose a bat? Because he was afraid of bats!

I'll be thinking of her all day today...

Yes, and I can help relocate any that choose to attack hair, lol. My sister lives up near Yosemite out in the country...one of the times I stayed with her, she said "do you want to help me get rid of a bat?" I'm thinking "Okay, I've never seen one, but I'm game". So out we went to "get rid of the bat". It was under the eaves of her second story roof, which from where we were standing was probably about 3 stories up. The only way we could reach it was by water hose. We got the bat to leave but we were drenched by the end of it. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure why it was so important to get rid of the thing...they have tons of mosquitos up there and bats eat mosquitos.

Vincent, my prayers are with you, Megan and Tanya

Mine too! Thanks for the website link Vincent!

YAY, Andrea is back!!!! Missed you!

Okay Rachelvillans, if you don't see me posting much it is because I can probably only post at work until our heatwave ends. When I got home last night we had another brown out, but it might as well have been completely out because there was BARELY any juice. It was out for 5 hours. My mom and aunt have been without power for most of the weekend. I actually unplugged my computer altogether before I left for work yesterday. They're saying that today is also going to be a high power consumption day, so not sure what I'll go home to.

  9. I agree Charlie, it's so hard to know what exactly is causing it all. I tend to have delayed reactions so it's hard for me to tell too. It's really hard to keep a detailed enough journal sometimes, and I have kept a daily health journal for the past 4 years, but I still find it hard to be detailed enough. I thought all my supplements were pretty good quality and I tried to make sure they were free of at least the major allergins...I think it was just that my body was so overloaded and irritated. I wish I had something that would help you.

We can always use more humor in Rachelville! :P

  10. Anybody do aerobics classes, step, dance/salsa, jazzercise, whatever, and have a good shoe recommendation?

I used to do a lot of aerobics, but it's been a while and I currently only have running shoes so I need to get something mor appropriate for aerobic/dance.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

I get a different brand, it seems, every time it's time for new ones. I agree with the advice above about trying them on. I walk around the store for a while with them on. If you're going to use them on a hard surface try to test them on a harder surface. I do mine at home, so the carpeted store is fine.

  11. but spiders eat other insects with out them we might be over run!

I'm pretty sure I could single-handedly get rid of all the pesky insects....I mean help them relocate to a better farm.

I looked on my computer at the temperature and it said 84....then I went outside. It's not 84. It's 184. I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass. The thought of having to go out to Blockbuster is pure torture. I wonder if my husband would find Lifetime Movie Network interesting....

    :lol::lol::lol:

  12. Wow, okay, I think I can get through this without rereading, lol:

Stuporman - LOVE THAT NAME!! I didn't really have any specific symtoms that could be attributed to the vitamin thing, but in general wasn't healing well. I started by doing the SCD diet, then cut out corn, and cut down on MSG and at the same time quit all supplements. I think just staying off of them for a while has really helped. The last couple of days I've been trying to reintroduce just a couple of them and so far so good.

Cecile - love the new pic of Anna!

Christina - I'm so sorry, I agree with Susan and Vincent.

Sally - WELCOME, sorry I'm late, lol!

Julie - I am also interested in the adrenal stuff...did you post links when you first posted about it...if so I may have bookmarked them...must go look.

Rachel - you are one insane person, lol. I went out two times this weekend and all I could think of was getting back to my shorts/tank top and my couch. You should definitely come to the Stanford thingy...I'm planning on going too--it would be fun to meet up with everyone.

Robbin - wow, so sorry about the eyes.

    Everyone, HELLO!!!

  13. Donna,

My friend just called. She's in San Jose and she's all PO'd cuz they are having a BROWN OUT!!

LMAO...how is it that I never heard of this all my life and now....2 X's in one week??

She said its been going on since last night so like 13 hours now and shes gotta throw all the food out in the fridge. She said "its not a black out....its a brown out" and then proceeded to tell me the difference.

Yeah...yeah....I already know exactly what a brown out is. I learned it from one of the cult farm residents.:lol:

:lol::lol: Ha, see we in Rachelville are in the know! Oh, it's going to be a long day in Donnaville, lol.
