  1. I always took my probiotics during and after my course of antibiotics. I usually had to take the antibiotics twice a day, so took them at 4:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., then I'd take my probiotics at bedtime (around 8:00 p.m.)...the instructions on the bottle of probiotics I had said to take them on an empty stomach, so that was the best time of day for me to do that. I always figured the probiotics MIGHT be cancelled out by the antibiotics, but there was a chance that SOME of them survived and that was better than not have any, lol. I definitely continued taking them after the course was done...in fact usually take them every day regardless of whether I'm on or have been on antibiotics.

  2. Christine, I've never tried that, but it sounds interesting!

Rachel, the antihistamine sounds interesting too.

Julie, I also like Giada and Paula...Paula and Alton Brown I think are my favorites.

I'm still doing okay...today I've reintroduced my vitamin C tablets, and in a couple of days I'll try to add back my flax oil.

  3. Arent fibroids in the middle? My doctor didnt tell me what kind of cysts I have cuz she was too busy worrying about my ringback tones.

Mine were all over my uterus...inside, outside and in the lining/walls.

Can't imagine what's going on with that possessed computer of yours, lol.

dlp!!! Lovely to see your face too!! It's a great picture Thank you for the hugs the other night too.

I love Rachel Ray, I was just watching her this afternoon. That is very interesting about the cucumber having sticky gel on it.

No wonder you got sick Rachel, why do they have to put so much crap and junk on/in our food?!?!

Why thank you! Oddly, Rachel Ray is one of my least favorite show hosts, but I do like her show, lol. She always has the most interesting tips. I didn't notice the sticky stuff when I first started buying cucumbers...that may be because I wasn't trying to really wash them...I was just rinsing them off...when I started to wash them with soap that's when I noticed the sticky stuff. It kind of turned my stomach...people eat cucumbers all the time without peeling them... :o

I am loving seeing all the pictures up of everyone!

  4. Rachel - about the cucumbers...I was buying organic from Whole Foods but when I would wash them I could feel a sticky almost gel like substance on the skins that wouldn't come off...I always peel mine, but am sure that some of it gets on the peeler and back on the cucumber....then I just happened to see Rachel Ray on the Food Network who always buys the "english" cucumbers--the ones in the plastic wrap--because she says they don't have that sticky gel stuff on them. I was thinking it was my imagination, but no, guess not. So I've been buying the really long skinny ones in the plastic wrap and haven't noticed any stickiness on the skins when I wash them...bonus, they have very few seeds.

  5. Morning all! This thread is hard to keep up with if you don't visit every day, lol. I was just thinking that it used to be fairly easy to catch up if you read a few of the older pages along with the new, but any more there's quite a few new pages every time I log on (and I try to log on a couple of times a day, lol).

I think I've determined that corn, msg, etc. is really probably NOT my problem, but any processed foods do seem to eventually cause me problems...not sure exactly WHAT the cause is...I"m thinking it's synergistic...the more I eat of the processed stuff the more it bothers me. When I lay off for a while I'm able to do just fine with a couple of processed items here and there and can eat things like mayo etc more regularly. So while I think I can eat corn and products which may contain a bit of msg without problem, I can't eat a lot of them or eventually my body builds up a toxic level and starts to cause problems.

My chicken experiment was interesting. For years I suffered from an intense, almost internal itch on my left heel--bad enough to wake me up and keep me awake in the middle of the night. I've seen allergists and dermatologists about it and tried creams, antihistamines, etc with no real help. At times in the last few years it has been a constant daily itch and at times it has gone away completely, so I've always suspected it was related to something I was eating or some product I was using. This week I began to suspect chicken because I haven't had that itch for several days...coincidentally haven't had any chicken in that time either. So, Friday I had chicken for two of my meals. Yesterday, throughout most of the day I had the heel itch! My legs itched just slightly so I"m tending to think that is just really dry skin which the coconut oil seems to be helping. This morning my heel doesn't itch at all!

That just confirms in my mind that my reactions are fairly delayed (i.e., not on the same day as I eat the food, but several hours to a day later) and that chicken is suspect. I plan to test this out again later in the week to be sure.

  6. Hi everyone.

    Hugs to Armetta and Julie!

My allergist told me to stay away from dried fruits too...I always thought it was because of the mold factor, but I could be wrong. I also did an anti-candida diet, which stressed no dried fruits.

I'm feeling pretty good...the last few days my allergies have really kicked up...it's been hard to breathe, but generally I'm feeling okay. Until yesterday. When I proceded to fall off my mini trampoline as I was GETTING OFF the darned thing...smashed the front of my ankle. I have a nice lump and it feels really bruised although the skin is only slightly discolored. I think I should have known better than to try to jump on that thing...I've been kind of dizzy again the last few days. Oh well.

I added an avatar...I may change it later...I have another one I like better from about 4 years ago, but this one is more recent (taken in March). I was at a fitness convention with a group of girls I met online and we pulled someone aside to take our picture...just as he was about to take the picture he yelled "SAY SEX" which just totally made me laugh so hard (he didn't seem the type interested in sex, which is why it was so funny).

  7. I'm like Donna in that I cant stop myself.

We can do rehab together!

    What is the Crucible?

I thought it had something to do with the military!:ph34r: (pssst, I went to public schools here in Cali...) :)

    LOL!

Yesterday I happened to be looking in the cabinets...I have no idea why since I cant have anything in there! I always do this though....as if I was a normal person just casually looking for something to eat....YEAH RIGHT.

Well....I found 2 ziplock baggies of those crackers I was eating! I forgot I had put some in baggies and now that I know they are there....its very tempting. For some reason I cant bring myself to throw stuff away cuz you never know...a miracle could happen. Tomorrow I could wake up totally able to eat ANYTHING I want.

Oh yeah...and like if that really happened would I really be running to the cabinet to get those plain rice crackers anyway....NOT! I'd be on my way to the store for some chicken n a biskit crackers with some cheese spread!

Wish I didn't understand any of this so well!:o:ph34r:

  8.

    12 more!! :o

If you're anything like me you'll eat all 12 too...blisters or not.

    Its called denial. ;)

All I can say is bring them back!!! I've done that too many times to count. Whole foods is good about taking back everything I cant eat. I think they probably wanna run away when they see me coming in with my bag of stuff though.:lol:

Okay, I exaggerated just a bit...I actually only bought 8. I've been sort of good though...I've had those in the house and only ate the 1st one last night. I should take them back, but I can't bring myself to do it, lol. It's truly intervention material here. Change a couple of letters of my name and it spells DENIAL!

  9. No, see you are the age you are until you hit 30, and then you just stay 30, forever and ever. It's amazing how that happens

YEP!!! That's exactly how it works!!!! Although people DO tell me I look like I'm in my 30s.

dlp, stay away from the Bumble Bar. We are going to have to come down there, or up there, wherever you are and have a Bumble Bar intervention :lol:

I might be too far gone for intervention! Do they have Bumble Bar rehab?? :lol:Did I mention I bought like 12 of them on Saturday?

  10. Ha Donna... you sound like me :P I have 4 holes in one and 3 holes in the other ear and... (now don't anyone faint, remember I live in Florida, this is common) I have a belly button ring. :o Hee hee, not very grandma like huh??

I almost got a belly piercing, but one of my co-workers got one around the same time and she had trouble with hers to I chickened out, lol.

<------ old lady, 44 yrs old ^_^ ....I know you guys are just buttering me up (no pun intended) you want me to open a gluten free bakery and distributing center :lol:

NOT OLD!!! I'm older than you so that would make me ancient, lol. I'm going to be 51 in a few days!

Okay, I finally figured out that I DO get mouth blisters. Got one this morning (or at least noticed it this morning). It definitely wasn't there yesterday...guess what I had yesterday evening...BUMBLE BAR! I know I've said on this thread before that they give me bowel noises, but I keep trying them thinking it's all in my head. I had just finished showering this morning and happened to feel it, so ran to look in the mirror--usually when I get these I'm not near a mirror so by the time I get to one, it doesn't look like a blister anymore. This one wasn't black and was hardly white, but it was definitely blister-like.

The next thing I want to test is chicken. I haven't had any in over a week and oddly enough I haven't had any leg or heel itching since then, so I want to test to see if THAT is what has been causing my itching. I've been using coconut oil on my legs for about the same amount of time, so it could be that, but I've tried lotions and creams and even vaselline before and nothing has stopped the itching, so this will be interesting.

  11. For the past 2 days I've had extreme neck pain in the front left side of my neck, near the base. It is like sharp pain but it is constant, and it is definitely not a muscle - I was wondering if this could be my thyroid (I have hypothyroidism) - does anyone else ever have this pain? I don't notice any swelling or anything, just the internal pain.

I've been having bad pain on the left side of the neck too, but mine is higher up and more to the side. I think mine is muscle related though because if I feel around I can find a sore spot--the pain also radiates into the head and down into the shoulder which is another reason I think mine is muscle or tendon related (are there tendons in the neck, lol). It's a pretty constant pain and doesn't matter whether I move my head/neck or not...the pain is always there but it's not always sharp if that makes sense. I feel it now, but rather than sharp, it's kind of a dull pain, and if I think about it much more it will make me nauseous--that kind of pain.

  12. Yeppers!! The infected earings in the ears is a sign <_< .... I get that too when I've been glutened.

Hum, I'll have to try wearng mine again. I had to stop wearing even my 14kt stuff because my ears would get weepy, but I haven't really tried wearing earrings since going gluten-free. I LOVE earrings, lol, I have 4 holes in each ear and it kind of irked me that I couldn't wear them anymore, lol.

  13. I always hate to admit that I am deathly afraid of the ocean, that is the only thing that would keep me away from dolphins, and things like boating and cruises. Even big lakes scare me too, which is REALLY ironic since I took swimming up at the age of 2 and swam competitively for years. I lived in the water. How can a fish, not be a fish?!?!?

I'm afraid of the ocean too, and don't know how to swim, but I LOVE cruising and boating...isn't that just the oddest thing, lol. When I was a child I would go with my cousins to Santa Cruz (a beach here in Cal) and walk out in the ocean all the way til the water was at my chin...never bothered me.

  14. Try not to be too stressed. I also had blood in my poop, so a colonoscopy was ordered. In my case it turned out okay, but you do want them to check to be sure. My doctor thought I might have colitis or something like that, but turned out I don't.

The CBC is a blood panel which tests for a lot of different things.

The TSH and T4 are thyroid tests.

I don't know what ESR is...I don't know if I had that on my bloodwork.

The iron and B12 are self explanatory.

    Not sure about Ferritin

  15. Yikes... didn't think of that... okay have to go into information mode again...I'll be right back with the lasts reports... over and out from Celia live from action Citrus County News.

p.s. for any new readers... this is only a joke... repeat... this is only a joke..

correction::::: the storms not a joke.. just me being a news reporter... yikes, I'm diggin myself deep here... :P

That's me, bringer of good news, lol. :o

Crews removing minor debris and assisting Law Enforcement with barricades and road closure signs.

Hey, maybe they found your tree!

  16. This made me laugh!!! How cute, I love the baby posts. :D

Oppps just had a "beep-beep" announcement on TV, No one is allowed to go back home yet in Citrus County, evacuation order is still in effect, water is rising rapidly and high tide is at 2:45 so water will rise 8 feet... good googly moogly  they are announcing all the shelters again....I can see bits and peices of blue sky here and there so I was getting pretty happy until the "beep-beep" thing.

Have you seen the back side of the storm yet??? Or, will that be hours more? I'm hoping the back side of the storm and high tide don't want to visit at the same time.

  17. Eye is making landfall as I type, we have a pretty intense squall moving throught right now, so far, we lost a small tree. Waiting for word from the County on the damage here but probably won't hear until it's safe for the crews to go out. 21,000 people are without power, we're lucky our power came back on but all I can think about is how many of those 21,000 have dietary needs or need insulin or have major health problems. Friends of ours, the bottom floor of their home is under water, as soon as it's safe, Tony will go out and check on neighbors and friends and family if we can't get a hold of them by phone.

Yikes...where did the tree go??? Hope that isn't sailing around, lol. You are good neighbors!

  18. Poor Andrea..... she stayed up all night with me until I lost power just talking, I felt like it was my only communication to the outside world... thanks again Andrea!!!

Oh one more thing.... sorry I said "crap" everyone! And Mom, in case you read these.... I'm sorry I called you guys "old" :P but I'm not apologizing about the stubborn remark!! :D

This made me smile, lol! Andrea you are wonderful!

  19. Lost power last night, not sure for how long, me and Tony went to bed and slept a few hours. It's 5:30am and we're inbetween squalls so it's not too bad right now. Ground zero now is Cedar Key which is right up US 19, not far from us, all hurricane warnings are still in effect, water is rising, outside it's pretty soggy but no flooding. Haven't seen US 19 on our local stations yet so don't know if it's under water as of right now.

I had to go to bed early last night...but I thought of you and prayed just as I got in bed...I'm so glad you got some sleep. I'm going to CNN right now to see what I can see about the storm...it's 6:19 am here in California so it must be around 9:19 where you are...
