  1. I have normal-to-dry long sorta straight hair, wash it every 2nd or 3rd day. Before I started coloring hair I just put conditioner on the ends; now throughout. With a brush & wearing it pulled back I can even stretch to 4 days sometimes :)

Yeah, mine is colored too...gotta cover that grey, lol. I've made it two full days without shampoo, but just wetting it and using and rinsing out conditioner...I may try for more...this weekend might be a good time to try, lol.

  2. I can't even make it until noon without feeling like an oil pit, if I don't wet or wash my hair, lol.

Wetting it in the shower is different for me. I think because it rinses out the dirt and pollution (even without shampoo). I also use a blow dryer to style it...I think that distributes whatever small amount of natural oils are left after the rinsing.

  3. I've probably spent the most, lol. I think I've spent nearly $200.

But that's about it for me. The eyeshadows will last forever, and so will most of my blushes (some of which were the same size as a regular eyeshadow container)--I ordered some brushes too. On the next order I'll be ordering full sizes of my foundation, concealor and finishing dust and the current brushes that I don't have yet and that'll be it, except for the ocassional sample size of some color I haven't tried yet.

  4. Last night as I was going upstairs I heard my sister say not-so-innocently, "No... I haven't been playing with your makeup!" Apparently she had taken and applied every single eyeshadow color I have!   And as she has no a clue how to do that... well, I was laughing so hard that I could barely breathe.

OMGosh, how funny!!! Actually, she's got that dramatic smokey look. :P

  5. Nothing new to report today...using stuff I've used before, lol. How dull...hoping there is a new special this week so I can order again. :P I need new stuff to play with.

Well, the purple eyeshadow idea kinda fell apart when I came across my (hitherto unused) container of Photo Album.:rolleyes: I put that across the lid, and Oasis (my new favorite ) on the lashline (I need to look up makeup eye anatomy ). I'm also wearing Jump Rope blush.

Okay, so maybe I'll go home and just paint color all over my face and see what happens, lol.

Okay I've been debating about whether to put Oasis in my cart. I love golds so I think I need to try it. Does it have much orange in it though?

I really like Oasis...I may try to "foil" it one of these days, lol.

Just wanted to follow -up with a cultish group of make-up buddies!

Glad you are loving your eye colors! I don't quite have ALL of them yet, but I'm pretty close, lol.

  6. Did you change your hair? If not, maybe they are just noticing you look different but can't pinpoint why .... could it be the makeup? I know I look a LOT better with makeup on, LOL.

But then again, my hair has changed in texture and thickness so much so that even the checkout lady at Wild Oats said something about it the other day. It's thick like it used to be, so maybe yours is looking different, healthier and you don't realize it.

Warning...WAAAAY more info than you probably ever wanted, lol:

Well a couple of weeks ago I had a hair appointment. I think she did the same thing as always. The only thing I can think of is that she usually mixes two colors together to get "my color"...she was having trouble getting the colors to dispense, so maybe the mix is slightly different, but it can't be by much. I'd definitely notice if it were lighter...I don't like it lighter, lol. Yesterday someone said it looked "softer", lol. Someone also said I didn't look tired anymore. Maybe it IS the makeup and people just aren't sure what the difference is. :P

The other thing I'm doing differently (and this MAY have more to do with it than anything), is not shampooing my hair everyday.

A few years ago, I overheard two hairdressers talking about a client who NEVER washed her hair, lol. At the time I thought ick!, but what they were saying was that she rinsed it in the shower every day, but didn't use shampoo and her hair was very healthy. I never even considered that because my hair tends to get greasy if I don't shampoo every day.

After getting tired of the dry look, I decided to try it a couple of weeks ago. I'm not brave enough to NEVER use shampoo, but I've been going every other day, and a couple of times two days without shampoo, but rinsing it off really well in the shower, and just putting conditioner on. That seems to really help it from looking too dry and it doesn't get greasy. Maybe THAT's it, lol.

I haven't discussed these with my doctor yet, but my impression is that malabsorption is still very much an issue, as well as lead and maybe mercury.

Sherry, count me amongst those who will be interested in what the doctor has to say about all this. I know my doctor has me taking Taurine and Tyrosine and magnesium.

I'm going to be away for a week starting tomorrow and don't know if I'll have internet access...we'll see. I'll miss you all if I do.

    We'll miss you too!

  7. Okay, so about 50 people have commented on my hair, lol. I think it looks the same as always, but everyone is commenting on it. That can't hurt the feeling good about myself thing, lol. :P

I've caught up.....been sick since Sunday night with what I think was a stomach virus. Otherwise I got sick from eating something at someone else's house. Children are so-so. Not as bad as I was.

I'm so sorry...hope you are feeling better!

April, you must come join our EM cult, or at least visit our thread. It's in the gluten-free Product/Medication category.

Yes, definitely, lol...who knew a handful of women could talk 100 pages about makeup. (Actually, we review a lot of the products and colors...that's it, that's what racked up the page count, lol)

Donna...thats really exciting! You look great in your new pic by the way!

    ...

I'm a liitle strange because I was sooo not excited to get my braces off! I remember crying the day I had to get them off.

Thank you! Yeah, that's a little strange, lol!

Just picked up my lab results and I am very discouraged. I'll post it all later, I'll need your help to understand and process this.

Aw Sherry, I'm sorry!!!! Yes, please, don't wait too long...we're all anxious now too! :P

  8. I too am noticing that I am taking more pains with my appearance, wearing my EM almost every day, etc.

I went from wearing makeup one day a week to wearing it everyday, lol.

I have got to get some of this EM makeup. Sounds like a good thing :D

    Is there a website?

AND, the good thing is that you can get a free sample kit (you just have to pay $3.97 for shipping)...so you can test out foundation and blush colors without committing to a huge container.

  9. You'll know you have really crossed over to the dark side when you march into Home Depot with one of your containers of EM eyeshadow and ask the person working the paint desk to match the color. Congrats on the extreme home makeover plans. We have been inspired in the same way. We are finally doing the kitchen remodel that we have been talking about for 7 years. We are being a little adventurous with the colors, too.

Ooohhh, what a great idea, lol. I'm going to have them match one of the lavendars, lol.

I'm hoping the new special (and hopefully website) will appear by the 20th. Sooner would be great though too! LOL I think I'm going to end up getting a full-size custom kit, mini custom kit and eyeshadow kit. My foundation is quickly diminishing (but how awesome that I've only ever had to order one $5 foundation, and it's lasted this long!)

Well, the site says the 15th, and I'm hoping they stick to that because I'm getting a full-sized custom kit and my last mini eyeshadow kit plus a free sample kit, lol. Think I also still have the peach lipstick in there too.

Sorry I'll be off topic for a second--Donna, there is a paint pad you can get at Home Depot that you spread paint onto with a brush (they say to dip in in the paint, but we found if you paint it on with your brush, you have a lot more control)--you can get a pole for it there, too. It works great for going along high ceilings or even vaulted or cathedral ceilings.

Our last house had a lot of high ceilings, and this saved us a ton of time :)

GREAT!!! Thanks!!! This would be perfect!

  10. How about a makeup slumber party for one of those insomniac nights?

Yeah...fortunately THAT seems to be changing too!!!! YAY!!!

We can compare painting notes

Indeed!!! I will need your sagely advice!!

Painting to me is so relaxing, the only part i hate is we have 10 feet ceilings and it is hard for me to stand on a ladder and paint, tg hubby does most of that part lol. Of course then after u paint u will have to get new pictures and curtains and accessories and that is the fun part of re-decorating lol

Yeah, I have a couple of high places I'm not quite sure how I'll get too, and no hubby to make do it, lol. I'll figure it out though.

  11. I'm reposting something I posted on the makeup thread because it's just too exciting for me. Some of you know what a long road it's been for me, some of you don't. I've been sick for the better part of 10-12 years and the last 5 years have just basically floored me. The difference I've seen in the last few months has been astonishing, but it's stuff like this that really brings it home for me:

Well, I'm pretty excited here girls...I've mentioned before how excited I am about EM because for the first time in years I'm actually excited about putting makeup on and taking care of my appearance...well, apparently it's spilling over into the rest of my life, lol.

For the first time in about 12 years....I actually feel excited about fixing up my condo. I haven't felt that way in a long time...couldn't really because I felt so bad. I actually pulled out paint chips (old ones--will have to get new updated colors this weekend), and started planning what paint goes on what wall, and actually started thinking I could do the painting myself! I'll have to get low VOC paint of course, but if I only do one wall at a time (in a day if I have to), I think I can do it myself.

See what a little makeup and fun with colors can do, lol!

  13. So my cosmemixtista concoctions for the day...mixed my Olive Light Foundation (of which I'm getting low) with the Ivory Foundation....looks pretty darned good if I do say so myself, lol.

And, mixed Bisque and Sunlight concealors...didn't notice the pink underneath my foundation today, so apparently this works well, lol

Wearing Best Friends blush...still loving that one.

    New products:

Ping Pong...lovely shade of pink. Almost has a slight apricot cast to it...very sparkly. This is one I'll wear often I think.

Cool Breeze. I think this is a nice color...it just wasn't dark enough to show over the Ping Pong. I'll try it on it's own some other day.

And wearing my favorite Samba Lessons eyeliner.

I got my make-up!!!!!! I waited long enough...sheesh! LOL! I now have to go play with all the new colors! I already put on the Cherry Lip Fizz (I think that's it?!) and I LOVE it! It looks great!

    Will report back later!

Yay!!!! Can't wait to hear about it all!

Yes, I once went on a koala finding quest so we could have some koala pets in Rachelville, remember? LOL

Those were fun times, I am sure much more fun for you since you were actually in Australia

I do indeed remember, lol. Definitely fun times.

  14. To Jin (this won't make sense to anyone else, lol):

Yeah, I'm finding out the purer that my products are the better for me. So far so good with the EM stuff!

Yeah, I feel bad too if I eat too many carbs of any kind...it actually causes low blood sugar feelings in me, not to mention the awful bloat and gas it causes.

I had my appraisal for the refinancing on Sunday...now I just have to hope she appraises my place at more than what I want to borrow...I should think it would be, but one never knows...that's the last hurdle I have to pass I think. I haven't heard yet.

My doctor said I could do the B-12 shots once OR twice a week. The bottles both say 1x per week. I tried two times per week for a couple of weeks, but I just CAN'T give myself shots that often, lol. I just can't. Once a week is hard enough.

I'm awful at taking pictures...just awful. I have a decent camera, but no matter what kind of camera I have, my pictures just don't come out well, lol. I have a friend who can take a picture with one of those cheap disposable cameras, and it comes out like a professional picture, not me, lol.

The caffeine really seems to be the culprit with the breast pain. I haven't had a single episode of the searing pain since I cut it out. I've been having a little decaf, so it's probably not the coffee itself, but seems like it might be the caffeine. I'm getting ready to test that theory out by having a little caffeine every day for a week or two and see what happens. Haven't started that yet though. I don't take calcium...I should, but I don't. :(

  15. Okay, may have to try the ole olive oil on my face tonight... :P

So I went to put lavender oil on my face this morning and I accidentally grabed eucalyptus instead. I guess it could have been way worse, but today I kind of smell like a koala.

 Normally I would say "how would you know what a koala smells like", but you WOULD know what a koala smells like wouldn't you!

ok i figured this out, i never look at the front page, i look once i hit the photo color guide and these colors are not on that page, ughhh and here i thought i had all the shimmer colors and now i dont, im upset lol

 Yes, many shades NOT available on the photo color guide! Now you have fuel for another mini eyeshadow kit. :P

I had to change my avatar to try to keep up with Donna. ;)

Yikes! I cannot compete with HER!!!

Either she learns quick, or I spend too much time putting on makeup.

  Either way, very cultish on both parties part. :P

  16. Sunset Vogage!!! My new product of the day! I LOVE this shade. Kind of an apricoty color. This and ginger peach, may just be my all time favorite eye colors. I also kind of played around and with the little bit of minerals left on my margerine lid after I had applied to my eyes, I wet my finger and painted some of it on the back of my hand. Um, I haven't been TOOOO tempted to apply my eyeshadows wet, but this one made me think IMMEDIATELY "I have to apply this wet next time." Very, very pretty. Lots of sparkle to appease my inner sparkle goddess. And, mixed with the pink pajama and put on wet, it was kind of a pinky-apricotty stripe of goodness. :P

I also used Pink Pajama all over the eye lid as a base...did that first then put on Sunset Voyage.

That was all new...used Samba Lessons again as a liner...LOVE this color too.

Tried Soft Touch as a blush, but it was still too light. I think I'll try it one more time with ivory foundation. I am wearing Golden Light today, which I think may be too dark for Soft Touch to show. I'll try the ivory which is much lighter and see if it shows that way.

Jump Rope went on over the Soft Touch...very nice, ahhhhhh. :P

You should try it! It doesn't have a scent or anything that bothers me. It's just a little sponge of magic that I love LOL

Hum, I MIGHT have one of these around the house...never knew what to do with it...there ya go, lol!

I agree. Each one of your avatars gets progressively prettier. Take a few more pictures and you will melt all our screens. Rowr. ;)

    Thank you, lol!!!

OK - you guys probably already know this, but I just discovered the coolest thing. Down at the bottom of the message, right below the last post is a box that says search keywords. I can put any words I want in there (an eyeshadow color for example) and see what you all thought about it. Clikcking search topic polls up all the posts that have the wrods you search on mentioned. Then click on the post preview and it will pull up the post. That way I don't have to try to struggle through thousands of posts  to see if any of you like the blush I'm thinking of buying.

Yes, I discovered that a while ago in the huge OMG thread...there's NO WAY to go back in THAT thread, so I discovered that little box a few months ago...great feature to search just within the thread you are in. Love that!

I feel like a mad scientist doing all this mixing.

Yes, I often feel like a mad scientist too. That's part of the fun! :D

I know, it's fun and exciting, lol!

Check out this girl's eye make-up.

    Very pretty!!!! Love her eyes!

Well, you've hit four of my all time favorite products here, lol.

  17. Does anybody here happen to own a MacBook? I somehow managed to spill Jump Rope all over mine yesterday, and now the white keyboard is a pretty shade of mauve. I'm wondering how the heck to get it off. A damp cloth doesn't do much and I'm afraid to use cleaning chemicals on it.

Well, in my extensive experience with spilled minerals (dumped a whole container of BLACK BM EYELINER on my WHITE BATHROOM floor)...um, you can never get it all off.:lol: I STILL, after 5 years or so, have black eyeliner minerals in the crack between the floor and the bathroom cabinet...

On my counter, I use a cotton pad and some of my facial toner, lol. That seems to work reasonably well. Don't know what that will do to my countertop, but so far so good and I need to replace it anyway. :P

Oh, and I have a friend in real life who found our cult :lol: and placed and order. Woohooo. We are going to convert the entire world! LOL

Now I'm working on converting my mom and sister. :P

Yay...more conversions...a cult is nothing without it's conversions!!!

  18. Yeah, the emotion side of things... Yep, yep, yep. Big factor for me too.

I actually don't like my picture .... but I took it of myself and had to get it as far away as possible, so I could crop it .... I don't know how to resize the pics on my Mac, so I can't use the ones that I actually like, LOL.

I don't like most of mine...I'm pretty happy with this one...the colors get kind of weird when I resize it down, but it's better than the other ones, lol.

Yea, Donna, I love your new avatar.

    Thank you!

Anyway, thanks for bearing with me and your support so far. Sorry to subject you to this. You guys are the only ones I have to turn to these days.

Yeah, I think that's because we've all been there. It's hard for people who aren't sick to understand those of us who are. Especially with Lyme...it's just not possible to "WILL" yourself to do what you can't do.
