  1. Yep, there are three in the final sixteen, an unheard of number. Dawson City is the halfway mark, where she is now, and there is a 24-hour compulsory layover there, to give the dogs adequate rest and veteranairy attention. She has dropped three dogs...you begin with fourteen, and can stay in the race with a minimum of seven. Every time I see she has had...
  2. Hi, Tom! Yep. Gotta train myself to check only once a day right now, as it can drive me nuts....kinda like keeping my weigh-ins to only once every couple of weeks.... Patti! So sorry about your wee boy...Aged pets give us such joy, but at times poignant sadness.....I'm sure you're holding and hugging him lots!
  3. Patti!! You haven't mentioned Allo here in some time....Is he ill?
  4. Honestly, I did, mainly because Jack keeps looking at me ( like this ) when I use "heinous" in conversation, saying that it sounds like I'm talking about a "bumhole" . I suggested it as a name while keeping a close eye on my kid, but there is not an emoticon that captures the way his face arranged itself when he heard, "I've got it! How about HEINOUS...
  5. A photoshoot day for wedgies! Now there would be some interesting, Life Magazine-worthy shots.... Okay, this afternoon we're taking Jack's class on a field trip to the petshop to get a new budgie. They're already debating names. I suggested Heinous. This is exactly what I saw in front of me after my suggestion:
  6. Tom! Here is the standings page and the accumulated stats are under the "mushers" tab: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Good early Morning, guys! Wow, I'm really early, today... Bad night, awake since about four, so hear I am! Sigh........ Ah! But winning may also require being fully groomed....as I am certain The Slew indeed was..... Peter!! Welcome back! Mygawd....whose body and brain did you transplant? You didn't pay for such cargo from...
  8. How exciting, Amanda! If 'twere me, I would have been quite pleased at the fortuitous timing of the barfing...couple pounds lost for that camera! Gosh, that's so nice, Ptaum....Here I go on and on about the crazy things in my life...you guys really are so great, paying attention like you do! Okay! (clearing throat)......I believe the...
  9. Woohoo!! Michelle's in THIRD!!!!
  10. Good thing you didn't blurt out one of these when one of your guests exclaimed, "Wow! Janet! Delicious cake! What's in it?" "SILLYPLASTIC!" NOPE! Never frequented these places at such times...ever...honest.... I WANNA BRAG ABOUT CHOCOLATE GLUTTONY!! No fair......type one...... Well, I'll have you all know that I feasted...
  11. Obsession With Comparables.....I thought that was the little filly that stayed just in the wake of Seattle Slew in '78.... It is insanity. The two of them talk about it being a "because it is there" kind of attraction, and an addiction, I suppose. Yes, I could certainly understand the overpowering need to be alone on a barren, frigid landscape...
  12. ME? Drive someone bananas? Unheard of!! Y'know what? I'm driving myself bananas with this!... So ridiculous...I think it's due to my obsession with comparatives in life, and the philosophy that everything is indeed relative. Gaaaahhhh.....this way madness lies.... Both races difficult. No comparison necessary, needed, and most importantly...
  13. Okay, okay... I'll have to email BIL, who has done the Id. Was sure he'd told me that he chose this race the first time he attempted anything huge and gruelling because of its long areas through towns with maintained trail. He's actually Michelle's handler, so he's very involved in her Quest race. They're quite a pair...both a little insane, I am certain...
  14. Hey!! I can, I think, comment on the comparative gruelty .... The Iditerod is 120 miles longer, but for a couple of reasons it is an "easier" race: There is a great deal of outside help and "luxury" (wood cabins to sleep in every twelve hours or so, food stops, etc.), the terrain is not as difficult (I believe there are two mountain ranges to traverse...
  15. Good summary, Nikki! MENTALLY UNSTABLE. Just repeating this for emphasis.... Donna! Are you sprinkling your conversations with "HEINOUS" yet? Ooooooohhh, Amanda. 'Tis grievous news.....I'm so sorry. And it's Valentine's Day! Very unromantic, a sick hubby......
  16. Good Morrrrrnin' Sillies! Well, methinks we may lose an inch or two of this heinous snow today...bright sun and above zero. Fingers crossed..... That's exactly my stove, Patti. It's been great. All of your cookware has to be completely flat on the bottom, however, or they will heat unevenly and will wobble back and forth quite maddenly...
  17. OH! Exciting update!! It's the end of her fourth day, and Michelle's moved up to fourth place!
  18. Well.......I wouldn't say our closet is exactly....squalid, now. Actually, I'm feeling quite guilty about it all since we've been speaking about it. I'm looking around the house, trying to spot a place we could put this urn. Doesn't go with anything... Okay. I will assuage my guilt by cleaning up our closet. Very good.
  19. YES, she absolutely CAN. Legally, no. But who cares? Not planning on having any cops over for the burial. DH seems to have a problem with this...feels that she'll be pooped on and dug up by Gus and the cats (so what? She's rubble! Not like they're gonna dig up her face, or somefin').....And he seems to think it quite acceptable to leave her in with his...
  20. Gawd, I realize that this does not sound like it could possibly be true...old Aunt Rosie's ashes in our closet. But alas, it is. Hmmmm....although perhaps I give off the impression of being one who would have this kind of thing happening in my household. Gaaaaaadddd.... This summer! I've put my foot down! DH procrastinated about it all last year, didn...
  21. Yes! Forgot to mention Yolo's work. What I saw I really liked. Careful, Tom....you're planning on a meeting with a visual artist.... Gad..... I should think that "Henous" would be pronounced as a rhyme for "Dennis"...ugh, hate everything about the world of pronunciation. HEINOUS to teach!! Have not read it. My girlfriend...
  22. ...Bah...I'll just get another spectacular bruise, as she may hit me. Janet!! So true, life is really just one big Monty Python Skit....at least mine seems to be. Now, we could follow their lead, and just tell the junior elementary kids that we made a mistake and Nick is just resting...reinstate him on the post, then whip him back into the freezer...
  23. Nikki, that's one sappy cat ya got there! Not out pooping in gardens, killing birds and bringing them onto the bed, cutting themselves up (HEY! Phrasal Verb alert!) in fights, like mine do? Speaking of such things, Jack came home very sad a few days ago as one of the school budgies died. They have two, and the little female who is left is absolutely...
  24. Good Morning, Guys! Gaaaahhhhh..... Out in yer shorts again today, Mr. Tom? (Said in whiny, racked-with-jeaslousy voice)...More snow coming down. Lots more. The banks are probably up to our windows. GAWD! Dad is (was....retired, now) a local radio/TV guy. The memorable work he did on television was on this show: Open Original...
  25. Yes!! All-season Tubular Coats! They come fully inflated for severe cold, and air can be let out for warmer weather. They could come with a foot pump. No fussing with a zip-in lining, or several coats for changing climate... One may look like a side-show act with it fully inflated...but man, you'd be warm! Speaking of coldness, I keep, forgeting to...
