  1. @Gilly M, Good morning! Proud of you for trying a dairy free weekend. Yes, butter is out, too. I get lots of information to post from the National Institute of Health. It's free, so everyone can read and research for themselves. https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminB6-HealthProfessional/ and... https://ods.od.nih...
  2. @Gilly M, How much magnesium are you taking daily? What kind of magnesium are you taking? What formulation? You said in an earlier post you have osteopenia, and in the post above, you're still dumping oxalates. Although you've mentioned taking a magnesium supplement, I'm thinking you may want to try increasing your magnesium. Magnesium...
  3. @Gilly M, Try taking 500 mg of thiamine hydrochloride. Take 300 mg and three hours later take 200 - 300 mgs more. Take 500 mg thiamine hydrochloride for three to five days. If you see improvements, continue taking it in this manner. You can add Benfotiamine in addition to the thiamine hydrochloride. If you take the 500 mg thiamine consistently...
  4. @Km592, Welcome to the forum! @trents has given you great information! As a veteran celiac survivor with dermatitis herpetiformis myself, sometimes we have more damage on our skin than apparent in our guts. I find avoiding iodine (as in iodized table salt, sea salt, dairy and shellfish) very helpful in reducing DH outbreaks. DH...
  5. @Gilly M, If you are able, add benfotiamine in as soon as you can. Your body is trying to deal with the oxalates - glyoxal - but is running out of thiamine dependent enzymes towards the end of the process, resulting in increasing problems with oxalates. Since you say you can't tolerate the thiamine hydrochloride form in the higher dose needed...
  6. Welcome to the forum! Those oval deposits could be eggs of intestinal parasites. Or it could be something else. Here's an interesting article.... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3530996/
  7. Double check this for me.... "Usually, oxalate combines with calcium in the gut and exits the body through stools." https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hyperoxaluria/symptoms-causes/syc-20352254 High oxalate diet increases oxalates in blood and urine.... Diet-induced oxalate nephropathy from excessive nut and seed...
  8. Muscle spasms, twitches, POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), tachycardia, deafness, Gastroparesis, problems with oxalates, and white spots on the brain are all indicative of Thiamine Deficiency. Read for yourselves, please. Marginally Insufficient Thiamine Intake and Oxalates https://www.hormonesmatter.com/marginally-insufficient...
  9. @Tall Holly, Since Celiac Disease damages the small intestine more severely over time, I'm of the opinion that many people who are diagnosed with NCGS just haven't sustained the major damage (Marsh Three) of Celiac Disease, yet. I thought these articles might be of interest to you. Carrier frequency of HLA-DQB1*02 allele in patients affected...
  10. @Wheatwacked is right. "Vitamin D is responsible for the barrier function of the intestinal epithelium and for the modulation of the bowel immune system, hence, low levels may be associated with greater gut permeability and, consequently, with GutMicrobiota-induced metabolic endotoxemia that induces a low-grade inflammation." Vitamin D : Nutrient...
  11. @hmcdowell, Since the blood tests point to Celiac Disease, continuing with a diet that contains gluten and having the endoscopy would be the preferred way to proceed. At least you will have a base line for comparison with future endoscopies should that be necessary. Stopping gluten now would lead to unclear endoscopy results, leaving you...
  12. I take Magnesium Glycinate supplements after meals. Magnesium coats the stomach and small intestines. Same with Calcium supplements. Tums has Calcium carbonate. Rollaids has Calcium carbonate and Magnesium. Calcium carbonate can cause constipation. @Wheatwacked is correct about marketing ploys. Just take plain Magnesium Glycinate.
  13. Hi, all! Thought you would be interested in this article about the connection between NAFLD and high fructose corn syrup. I gave up high fructose corn syrup in gluten free facsimile products and soda pop and my NAFLD cleared up. Amazed my doctors, though they had no explanation for it. 😸 How high fructose intake may trigger fatty liver di...
  14. @Gilly M, Hello! I am happy to hear you are making progress! I apologize for not responding sooner. I was unavoidably detained. The Universe threw me a curve ball. LoL Let's get to your questions... Here are my questions to you if you are able to answer any/some/all... 1) I am only taking 50mg x 2 thaimine HCl right now. When...
  15. @Aussienae, You're being brave to give up dairy! I understand how difficult it is to make changes. But the rewards on the other side of healing are very worthwhile! Keep us posted on your progress! Best wishes!
  16. Definitely discontinue dairy! Some people go beyond molecular mimicry (the body mistaking casein as gluten) and develop an allergy to casein which can cause a whole ballpark full of other problems like eczema, asthma, and anaphylaxis. The AIP diet eliminates for a while the foods most likely to irritate and to cause inflammation. During that...
  17. @Aussienae, Do you include dairy in your diet? Lactose intolerance can be a problem, but casein, the protein in dairy, can cause the same autoimmune reaction as gluten because a segment of the casein protein resembles a segment of gluten protein.
  18. Blood tests are not accurate for the B vitamins. Blood tests can reflect how much was in your diet the last couple of days, but they don't measure the amount of vitamins stored inside cells or how well the body is metabolizing the vitamins. Since the eight essential B vitamins are water soluble, you might want to try supplementing them in a B Complex...
  19. Have you been checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies? B12 Cobalamine, iron, Thiamine, zinc and other nutrients are frequently deficient or low in the newly diagnosed. If our bodies don't get enough of the vitamins and minerals it needs, our bodies don't function properly. Discuss with your doctor the benefits of supplementing while...
  20. Hope this helps!
  21. @Maxipoo, Getting checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies is part of proper follow up care for Celiac people. It's common to have more than one deficiency in Celiac Disease. Unfortunately, medical professionals are not given much training in nutritional deficiency symptoms. Vitamin deficiencies need to be corrected quickly so that the damage...
  22. Have you eliminated dairy products from your diet? Do you eat lots of spinach? Peanuts? Soy? These are foods high in oxalates, which form kidney stones. Passing a kidney stone can cause pain in the lower abdomen, back, and groin. Here's an article with more information... https://www.iowaclinic.com/urology/early-signs-kidney-stones...
  23. I believe you that you're gluten free. But, what are you eating? Do you eat nuts? Legumes (aka beans)? Citrus fruit? Snails? Processed gluten free facsimile foods? Lollipops? Daisies? 😸
  24. What symptoms are you having? What do you include in your diet? Do you keep a food journal?
  25. @Emanon, How long have you been eating less than 400 calories? You may be suffering from malnutrition. You may be having a bad reaction to foods because you are so deficient in vitamins that your body can't process it. I'm familiar with your description of your brain function. I felt that way when I was not absorbing sufficient nutrients...
