  1. It's possible that I accidentally got glutened. We were traveling and ate out a couple of times, so that would have only been a couple of days which is pretty normal for me. But what really confused me is that I didn't react for those three days that I knowingly ate gluten but have reacted at other times when I have accidentally eaten gluten.
  2. I am so confused and don't know which way to turn now. This is rather lengthy, but please bear with me to get to my dilemma. Several years ago when I was having flares of stomach pain, my doctor originally thought maybe it was diverticulitis but no test was run at that time. I didn't think the symptoms matched up to that and took myself off gluten for awhile...
  3. About a month or so ago, I ate something with buillon in it not realizing it had gluten until after the second time I ate it. I reacted with stomach cramps and constipation each time like usual. Then the other day I purposely ate gluten 3 days in a row (don't yell at me) because I wanted to start the gluten challenge since my test and diagnosis was botched...
  4. What about shampoo, skin cream, lotions, etc.?
  5. How high is high? I used to get heart palpitations before going gluten free. They only happen occasionally now and not bad like they used to be. I found that MSG will raise my bp and so will the antibiotic Zithromax (z-pack). Neither of those have anything to do with gluten.
  6. Yes, I have the gene and the symptoms. I wish I had gotten the diagnosis for my kids' and grandkids' sake. I see some of them having issues, but without the diagnosis, they pretty much dismiss it. They keep looking in other directions for what's bothering them.
  7. I second the Natural Calm magnesium. I've seen it work wonders on constipation. It is non-toxic and won't hurt her. It will also help her absorb calcium better.
  8. My doctor told me to consider myself Celiac and stay gluten free based on my gene test, which had very strong markers, my symptoms, and my improvement when I went gluten free. I sent my gene test results to the Celiac Foundation and a doctor there read them. He said I was at very high risk. That was enough for my primary care physician based on everything...
  9. Warning: Very long post. I have been gluten-free for over 2 years but I'm confused by my symptoms. First of all, my diagnosis was only made by my gene test, my symptoms, and the relief after going gluten-free. I tried to get the blood test, but the doctor I was going to at the time only did the minimal testing and not the full panel. Add in the fact...
  10. Sounds like you may finally be on the right track with this new healthcare professional. I hope you finally get some answers. I get so tired of doctors who just write everything off due to their preconceived ideas. My son laughs at my doctor because he says she runs too many tests, but at least she is thorough and tries to figure out the problem.
  11. Cristina, you need to be on gluten longer than 2 weeks for your tests. Maybe since you weren't off for that long it might be okay, but typically it's 8-12 weeks. I had gone off like you for a short time and then went back on for 1-2 weeks and my test came back negative. However, they didn't do the full panel as I had requested, either. Make sure they do the...
  12. Ninja, I sent you an email through here. I hope you got it.

    Thanks.

  13. Would I have to go back on gluten for that test? If so, it's not worth it to me.
  14. Yes, I am gluten-free. I rarely have a problem with my throat anymore. Only when I eat too much dairy. I caved one day a couple of months ago when I went to my son's house for dinner. My daughter-in-law had fixed a pasta dish, garlic bread, and browines for dessert. I told myself that since I hadn't been diagnosed, maybe it was all in my head. I pigged out...
  15. Thank you for your reply. A couple of years or so ago, I had been having several issues, including a lot of mucous and coughing after eating most meals. After researching, I decided to try going gluten free for awhile. Then I asked the doctor I had at the time for a gluten test. They told me I had to be consuming gluten for it to show anything, so I went...
  16. I posted on here a few days ago asking for help understanding my test results since my doctor didn't know how to interpret them. However, no one has replied. PLEASE can someone help me understand these results? I think it is listing the ones I tested positive for, which includes the DQ2 gene carried by 90% of people with Celiac. HLA DRB1, DQB1 LOW RESOLUTION...
  17. I went in for my DQ2/DQ8 test and got the results today. However, the doctor didn't know how to interpret them and is going to call the lab to get an interpretation. In the meantime, does anyone on here know what this means? I think it is the list of the genes I tested positive for. Here is a copy of the lab report: HLA DRB1, DQB1 LOW RESOLUTION DRB...
  18. About a year ago I had been having a lot of digestive issues off and on for several weeks. I was tested for Celiac by blood test. I had gone off gluten for a while, but when I found out I had to be eating gluten before testing, I went back on. I was only on for about 1-2 weeks before they did the blood work. Here are my test results: No serological evidence...
  19. I'm still waiting for the blood test results. How long does that usually take? I'll see what that shows and then make my final decision about the biopsy. I know the biopsy is the defining thing, but don't they base the decision to do the biopsy on the blood test?
  20. Thank you for the reassurance.
  21. I just checked with the hospital and they explained their sterilization process to me and said they will be using a gastroscope, which is different than a duodenoscope. The article referred to the duodenoscope that was causing the problem. So maybe I should still go through with it?
  22. I just read about that yesterday. I'm feeling pretty freaked out about it and am thinking of canceling. Either way, I will be going gluten free, so maybe it's not necessary.
  23. I am so glad to find your post, beebs. I am being tested for celiac, but more and more I am beginning to think it is EE instead. I will be having an endoscopy done on Feb. 13. I hope to get some answers then. I had allergy testing done and was not allergic to anything, but I seem to be sensitive to wheat/gluten. Not sure about dairy. I have always loved milk...
  24. No, I'm not confused. I've already had the allergy testing done and it was negative. I just didn't know if I had to continue eating the gluten until the biopsy or not. I knew I had to for the blood test part of it. I have other issues besides the mucus, but I don't know if they are related to the gluten or not. The allergy doctor is the one who suggested...
  25. I am getting my blood drawn tomorrow. Can I get off gluten after that, or do I have to wait until after the biopsy?
