  1. Yes, the pain was debilitating until I started taking a sublingual methylcobalamin (B12) and magnesium. Although I think both helped, I believe the magnesium did the most.
  2. Besides gluten, I do know that MSG can cause headaches and migraines. Beer does contain MSG, as does basically anything made with yeast. Obviously, most people tolerate the typical amounts of MSG found in various foods, but many people do find that they are sensitive to it.
  3. Just make sure never to cook with flax or flax oil, as the Omega-3s break down very easily. It is always best to store flax (or the oil) in the refrigerator or freezer.
  4. If you have a microwave, toaster-oven, or buffet burner (like a mini stove that plugs into a regular power outlet), it opens up a lot of possibilities. Can you get a mini fridge, or even a cooler that you can use for short-term storage? There are electric coolers which are small enough to slip under a bed, and though they don't keep food as cold as a regular...
  5. Though I haven't a direct answer to your question, have you tried plain cocoa powder? I suppose the taste might be different, but I'd think it would have less questionable ingredients, and you wouldn't have to melt it. Welcome to the board!
  6. Ah, that's a good idea I think. Conditions which are treated in similar ways, and can often be confused with each other. Well, that's partly the problem IMHO. The threads on candida aren't organized in one convenient/logical place.
  7. This issue just happened to me today for the first time. I replied in a thread, and upon the new post being displayed, I saw a typo, but no edit button. There didn't appear to be any login issues of any kind. Refreshing the page had no effect.
  8. Yeah, I did consider that. And while candida is technically covered, there just seems to be such an enormous amount of discussion about it. I guess my reasoning is more along the lines of organization. Keeping things logically arranged for easy navigation, not to mention that I'm not the only one to repeat myself a zillion times in untold numbers of threads...
  9. I had similar pains, but got much worse. Once I started with B12 and magnesium, it resolved completely in a matter of weeks. Both are essential for muscle and nerve function, so it makes sense. Just make sure the B12 is a methylcobalamin sublingual. I do think the magnesium was the more important thing in my case, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's the other...
  10. Yes, I have looked into that more than a bit too. There are numerous technologies. Heck, there was an electric car on the market in 1922! Not just a "concept car", like they talk about these days, but nobody ever sees it. This thing was in production, and being sold. I heard about a guy who had one. It was still running thirty years later, and still went...
  11. Well, I was hesitant to post this, as some think it's not true, but heck, it IS true: Open Original Shared Link So there is something we can do after all, and I'd say it's only just the beginning.
  12. Sounds like you are somewhat sensitive to nightshades. The longer they cook, and the higher the temperature, the less of the toxic alkaloids remain. For detailed info see: Open Original Shared Link
  13. In addition to what has already been stated, there is a fair chance that other foods will bother you at first. Most likely is dairy, but also eggs, soy, corn, nuts, nightshades, and perhaps other things can be a problem for awhile. Do be sure to also check skin and hair care products for ingredients which contain gluten, throw out wooden spoons, cutting boards...
  14. They're already talking about $200 per barrel oil, so I think they know exactly what they are going to do to us. The is no substantiating the prices. It entirely artificial. And to add insult to injury, there's so much natural gas in Alaska, they don't know what to so with it, so they run a dozen aircraft engines 24/7 to pump it back into the ground!
  15. I agree that mozzarella (or dairy in general) may not work for you right now. Tomato is a nightshade, to which many are sensitive (including myself). What I'd try is have some tomato by itself, and see how you feel. Then try some mozzarella by itself and see. If you don't react, then I'd think either it was something in the sauce or the crust.

    ARCHIVED Help!

Well, I'm no expert on what an expectant mother should eat, but here are a few healthy ideas which seem to fit within your stated restrictions. Lundberg's Sweet Brown Rice (I couldn't stand brown rice until I tried this. It cooks up creamy not dry), add veggies and spices, then blend in coconut oil once done. Besides rice, there are plenty of other...
  17. Well, the title basically states my question, which is: Why isn't there a candida forum on the board? The threads directly related to the topic are innumerable, so I think it would help everyone if candida issues had their own section. The same questions are being asked and answered continuously.
  18. From the many posts on this forum, and from my own experience, B12 is practically a must, and a B-complex is quite a good idea for a large number of Celiac sufferers. Make certain the B12 is methylcobalamin, and the sublingual kind is generally regarded as better than pills. As was stated, vitamin D is another, and magnesium IMHO should be tried at least...
  19. That may be, and I haven't looked it up. However, it doesn't mean that Celiac was just as common back then as it is today. We may never know, but what isn't in dispute is the fact that today's wheat does have far more gluten than it used to. That has to count somewhere. That's what I recall from history class. If memory serves, it was a chef who was...
  20. Well, I don't know about the lectins in various grains, but teff is another one high in protein and fiber (there is ivory teff if you don't like the brown one). Also, green peas are quite high in both fiber and protein as well. A few bowls of pea soup could literally put your daily intake above the RDI. There's chia seeds, in case you haven't tried those...
  21. See, that makes me wonder if you might have gotten CC, or in this case "second-hand gluten". Literally. Even if you are the only one to ever wear that glove, I don't dismiss the possibility that the moisture left inside from previous use might have become home to some bacteria, mold, or some other thing to which you react. I Googled and didn't see much...
  22. Not to go completely off-topic, but... I wish to know who is responsible for starting this false belief. Sure, people did die more often from relatively survivable diseases, but also from wars, etc, not to mention horrendous plagues. But in the case of many diseases it was mostly due to ignorance, poor hygiene, etc. A few examples: Open Original Shared...
  23. I think the best explanation I've read for why many of us experience additional food intolerances besides gluten is that the digestive tract is damaged (leaky gut), allowing large molecules of things into the bloodstream which ordinarily would be broken down first, or blocked altogether.
  24. This discussion reminded me of a radio commercial I sometimes hear, about something called lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). So I looked it up, and though I don't know if it applies at all, I figured I should at least post a link: Open Original Shared Link The site seems to suggest only women experience this, but I haven't dug into it. I'm guessing it's...
  25. Well, the symptoms you describe do indeed sound like Celiac. However, keep in mind that something like 30% of Celiacs have no outward symptoms, so you cannot necessarily rely on how you feel. Some people have a reaction several days after ingesting gluten, others react within seconds. And yes, it can certainly creep up on you over time. At the very least...
