  1. One thing I found out very late was how much nightshades were harming me. I was seeing such promising results, then suddenly started going the other way again. Took awhile to figure out what it was. So don't give up. Hang in there and take your time. Allow your body all the time it needs, and it will tell you when it is ready to try some new things again...
  2. Well, one thing which seems to make dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) worse, is iodine (I'm guessing that's what you experienced). So things like kelp would probably be a really bad idea, as it is loaded with iodine. From my experience, a lot of salty foods can do it, even if the amount of iodine isn't particularly high. I'm under the impression that water retention...
  3. I second the magnesium suggestion. It certainly does work well. A powdered form, mixed in orange juice for example.
  4. Well, since bean flours also have some starch in them, and pretty much every vegetable I know does too, I'm guessing you can't handle large concentrations of starch, like corn, tapioca, or potato starch as is often added to bread recipes. Anyway, there are certainly flours which are not from grains, which work well for breads. One is buckwheat, which is...
  5. The blue hands thing reminds me of something called Raynaud's Phenomenon, but it has been found that supplements can resolve it. I've read magnesium, zinc, vitamin E, niacin, and a few other things can work wonders. Perhaps the links below will be of help to you. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link The rash sounds like Open Original...
  6. Well, DingoGirl, I'm very saddened (and angered) at what the medical profession and drug companies have put you through. I guess my only response is shock, that you would still take any meds, given your experiences. As for sleep, I had trouble there as well, and once again magnesium along with B12 seems to have worked another miracle. I suppose by now...
  7. I had that before taking magnesium and B12. I believe it was the magnesium which helped the most with that. Just keep in mind that blood levels are not so accurate. And I've read many posts about how a supplement had tremendous benefits even when the tests showed normal or above normal levels. Also, I've read that B12 is robbed from organs in favor of...
  8. Actually, the soft tissue under the tongue does absorb the methylcobalamin. I've also read that this form is being used in the shots more and more. Studies have shown the sublingual methylcobalamin to be just as effective as shots. Perhaps your doctor was referring to another type, such as the cyano form, which still requires conversion by the liver, not...
  9. If you'd like the same info I sent to our dear ISGoddess, let me know. I just feel uncomfortable posting it on the forum, but it goes along with the theme of my post above.
  10. Thank you for sharing that. People need to know that SSRI drugs are psychotropic, as is heroin. I really want to go into something of a dissertation, but this is not the place for it. My blood is practically boiling.... I wonder how many people are aware that a certain Brittany has been on meds before her recent "problems"? Go Figure! Here's an...
  11. Have you tried Tinkyada brand rice pasta? I suppose you could make gluten-free pot pies, which should freeze quite well too. That could provide a nice variety of veggies all in one dish, unless you don't like pot pies of course. I generally like stuff with sauces, such as stews, but I'm not familiar with your food preferences or intolerances.
  12. Oh boy! Thanks for reminding me - I haven't had Swedish Meatballs in...a looooooong time! Those egg noodles, all smothered in that sauce... OK, so now I gotta pick up where I left off with my veggie meatball recipe...
  13. Sorry that you have such allergies. Have you tried millet, buckwheat (no relation to wheat, and not even a grain), amaranth, sorghum, or t'eff? Since you mention ginger, I am curious if you have looked into sulfur dioxide? That is almost always added to ginger, to preserve color. Also, I too am sensitive to yeast, but I've wondered if it might be the...
  14. The only thing that comes to mind for red dye is that I know some are made with something called "carmine", which is actually made from grinding up the wings of a particular beetle. There may be other parts used - not sure. Now that I think of it, I did read someplace that something from pigs is sometimes used in the coloring of cherries. I still don...
  15. I don't honestly know if it is supposed to be safe to bathe with potassium chloride in the water, but I know the skin does absorb things, so I myself won't be trying that anytime soon. As for an alternative to the yeast, I'm not aware of any safe flavor enhancers besides salt in normal amounts. That is unless you count spices or something like that....
  16. Some good sources of O3s besides flax seeds are walnuts and blackberries. Some other things too, but those are the first that come to mind. From what I've read, flax is the densest source, and freshly ground flax will provide you with the complete ALA complex, not just derivatives as the fish oils do.
  17. I've found tremendous relief of both symptoms you mentioned by taking magnesium. I'd recommend a powdered form, such as magnesium citrate, mixed in a glass of orange juice. Here's one product which I know works: Open Original Shared Link You may need to start off with one teaspoon, but wait a few hours, so plan to stay home for awhile. The usual recommendation...
  18. I am sending you a PM with info that I feel is of tremendous importance to you. I won't post the info here for certain reasons which may become obvious once you obtain the information. And by all means feel free to pass it on to others.
  19. I wouldn't be the only one to say the term "IBS" is nonsense. It does not in any way explain the cause. Think about it; you asked a doctor because your bowel was irritable...Duh! Anyway, mucus is normal, and necessary, though in excess I suppose would indicate some sort of problem. In that case my first thought would be to question the stool consistency...
  20. Yes, it does get better, and easier. If fats are hurting you, then refrain for awhile, I did find some fats to be problematic, but more so for proteins. I think it was the magnesium supplement which helped me in this area, though I don't know if it would be the same in the case of fats. Thing is, was the margarine dairy-free? Most are not, and dairy is...
  21. You should be able to find caprylic acid capsules at any decent health food store/vitamin shop. Do be sure they are gluten-free of course.
  22. Yes, coconut can be anti-fungal, simply because of the caprylic acid in coconut oil. But, if that's what it was, the capsules would again be my suggestions, especially since coconut (especially the oil) is so expensive.
  23. Those moons are natural, and a good sign of nail health as I understand it. A sublingual methylcobalamin (B12) supplement should help with nails, as it does many conditions. Nutritionists examine a patients nails when they look for a deficiency in B12.
  24. There is a thread on MSG, though it dates back a ways. When a company rep says there's MSG in everything, it can be interpreted in more than one way. In nature, glutamic acid is present in a lot of stuff, and that's one way in which companies spin the issue. However, what they don't expound upon, is that the naturally occurring glutamic acid is bound up in...
  25. Yes, and more. I answered this in the other thread: Open Original Shared Link
