Confidence isn't my problem - it's a lack of energy. I have the confidence to bring my food in there I just don't have the energy to deal with all questions. I used to be very assertive, but now I have to budget my energy and use what I have to do basic neccessities of life and don't have excess energy to waste on things that aren't that important to me...

I tried that the first year - I was not comfortable with the idea. I got hassled by the waitress even though I called ahead and asked the manager if it was okay to bring my own food.

I’m hoping one of you has the wisdom to answer something I’ve not found a good solution. Every year our office of only six women exchanges names for Christmas. We all write the name of a restaurant on a slip of paper and put it in a box. Then we all go to a restaurant that has been pulled. Every year I remind everyone that there are only three places I c...

I have the same problem. I discovered I can handle Ketex. I'm supposed to take two at a time - I don't because my stomach doesn't like it. I take one at breakfast and the other at lunch. Does much better. I'm sorry I don't know why your (and mine) stomach is so sensitive now when it didn't used to be.

ARCHIVED We All Need A Laugh...to Cope
i canary replied to chgomom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Last month, I had a nurse tell me that the supplements the doctor wanted to take were gluten free even though it had wheat, barley and rye in it. According to her they only used the part of the plant that doesn't have gluten in it. I just stared at her awhile. She repeated herself when I didn't response. I finally told her "If they told you today that... -

I don't have a mood disorder, but I did have strong mood swings the week before also. (I didn't even want to be around me ) Since going gluten free it isn't as bad. I've been gluten free for just over 2 years and I've noticed that I'm no where as moody as I used to be. The longer I go gluten free the better my moods. Perhaps when you have gluten free...

ARCHIVED Help Please (boy I Need A Lot Of It)
i canary replied to STINGER's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Another thing to watch - her medication. Some prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs have gluten. A good website to check out is www.glutenfreedrugs.com. Joking is good. If your friend is anything like me - humor helps a lot. -

ARCHIVED Candida Overgrowth Question
i canary replied to kalanfan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had to stay on the diet for 18 months then I was candida free. It is a tough diet to do - much much worse then gluten free. It was worth it. Good luck. -

I have very short episodes where my heart skips. Scary when it happens. As far as I know I'm not taking anything for it. I'm taking 40 pills a day - so I might be confused as to what is for what. Next time I'm talking to my doctor - I'll ask her. Canary

My most recently medical idiot was a nurse not the doctor. When I called for an appointment for my pap smear - I asked that everything While I'm talking to the nurse who kept saying "No problem, I'll check for gluten" I'm feeling like she doesn't know what I'm talking about. So I asked "Do you know what gluten is?" She looked at me for a moment and said...

Have someone in the dentist office check for gluten. I did and they found that several of their products have gluten. I can't have a topical when getting the shots because it has gluten. The stuff they use for polishing the teeth has gluten. Everything else was okay.
