  1. Nope - I don't know where they are located in Nashville. I'm usually in Nashville for a doctor's visit - then I visit Wild Oats (if I'm up to it) and then it's back home for me. By the way - I really like the Donelson area, it's beautiful. They may be baked - I don't know. All I know is I have triple checked with the mgrs - not the waitress/waiters...
  2. I've eaten at Cracker Barrell in Franklin and Murfreesboro, TN. The managers were extremely helpful. One manager at the Cracker Barrell in Murfreesboro (at Old Fort Pkwy) has a grandfather with Celiac so he knew to be careful. I'm hyper sensitive to gluten and had no problems. There are several veggies that are okay, the steak fries are ok and their hamburger...
  3. I paid $100 to find out I need to eat more protein. I didn't go back for the $50 follow up. (She was recommended as a gluten free diet expert --- she wasn't)
  4. I was diagnosed with candidia and celiac on the same day. I followed the candidia diet for 2 years and I am finally free of it. Dr. William Crook has a book "The Yeast Connection" that tells you what to eat and not to eat. Basically - don't eat: yeast, sugar, cheese, baking powder, vinegar, fruit juice and put your leftovers in the freezer not the refrigerator...
  5. I'm glad your appointment went so well. How about sharing those websites
  6. Welcome
  7. Jodikris, Glad you are getting an appointment with a gastroenterologist!! I think all of us has felt at one time or another alone. I'm the only one in my circle of friends, co-workers and family that has Celiac. It's hard to be the only one who has to be so careful. I get tired of being the odd one. I'm being to think my role in their life is...
  8. Claire, Thank you for posting this article. I'm taking a long time to heal and was beginning to wonder why. Canary
  9. Motivation - I can give you motivation. I have been sick off and on my WHOLE life (I'm 47 now). I was finally diagnosed with Celiac 2 years ago (2 days ago was my anniversary). I ate some form of gluten every day until 2 years ago - for most of that time it didn't seem to affect me. I went months - sometimes years without a problem. I would have...
  10. No - USA
  11. Vincent, There is a local Nashville support group. It meets 3 times a year (maybe 4). The next meeting is coming up February 25th. I belong to it - it's the nearest group for me. It takes me 90 min. (sometimes longer) to get there since I don't live in Nashville - between that and the fact that I'm still sick a lot I usually just make 1 meeting a year...
  12. It's on the corner of 10th and Woodland at 970 Woodland St. Phone: 650-3600 They are a very small market, but they have a few gluten-free items.
  13. Hi Vincent, I saw gluten-free pretezels at the Turnip Truck in Nashville (on Woodland) the last time I was there. They had only the small packages of the seseame covered ones. It's been a couple of months or more, but that might be where your wife can find some. Regina
  14. Cold-Eeze is gluten free.
  15. Vincent, I'm a little slow myself. I kept looking at the picture wondering how that could be you - and then I saw the words. It cracked me up! Thanks. One of first things I had to do was throw out my expensive pots and pans because they are aluminium - not because I thought they had gluten. (I'm just not that smart) It turns out that I have aluminium...
  16. I have Fibro and Celiac Disease - the pain levels went way down after I started the gluten free diet. Next week will be 2 years since I have been gluten free - yes the diet does help.
  17. Thanks elfkin, I've been meaning to call around myself, but haven't felt up to it. Thanks for sharing your information. Canary
  18. These are great - my cheeks hurt from laughing. I really needed a laugh tonight. You might be a Celiac if: you have ever looked in someone else's grocery cart and thought - I couldn't eat at their house. you have screamed from across the room "No double dipping" at an office party. you have been asked "so are you still dieting?" ...
  19. Lorka150, I loved your poem, but I have to agree with GlutenFreeAl - you gotta share the recipe.
  20. Sharon, That's what I thought when my friend emailed it to me, but it works. It's the easiest cookie recipe I've ever baked. Just try it. Those were wonderful cookies. I had to say were because they were gone no time.
  21. Rice Guy reminded me of a couple of cookbooks I have that might be of interest to you: 1. Naturally Sweet Desserts: The Sugar-Free Dessert Cookbook by Marcea Weber it has several recipes in it that are already gluten free, the others can be easily fixed gluten-free. 2. Sweet and Sugarfree: An All-natural Fruit-Sweetened Dessert Cookbook...
  22. I called their toll free number and got a 9 page list the next week. Did you call 800-242-1227?
  23. Hi Sharon, I'm in the same boat. There is very little I found for sale that is both gluten free and sugar free (dessert wise). I did found some cookies from a company called Pamela's. They have 3 kinds gluten free sugar free cookies: chocolate chip walnut; coconut ; and peanut butter. I found them at my local Krogers in the health food section. The...
  24. I think you had a normal reaction. So far I just gotten teary eyed over what I can't have when everyone is eating something that looks and smells good. I have cried when I found something I could eat that I didn't know about. That's happened a couple of times. The last time was at Don Pablos last month when I had Cheese Nachos - the first Mexican food...
  25. I'm the only dx one. I have some cousins that are sick all the time like me, but they will not get tested. My mother said that her father could only eat milk and cornmeal - everything else made him sick. He died when I was a baby, all his photos make him look like a small walking skelton. All that to say I suspect that he had celiac disease.
