  1. I eat the side salads at McDonalds with no problems. They used to have a list stating which dressings were gluten free, but it's no longer online.
  2. She doesn't like rice cakes or crackers. I was just using them as examples because they travel well and are premade, prepackaged, and ready-to-eat. Sorry for the confusion. She actually does like the Asian Rice Crisps, but they have a bunch of added sugar and I like to keep them as an occasional treat rather than on the snack menu. LOL I've never tried...
  3. I should probably also add that we need to stay away from all top 8 allergens (aside from soy) as well. My daughter is really picky and she isn't digging the whole veggie vibe. LOL I guess I should have written that in the first post. I'm really looking for premade, prepackaged, ready-to-eat foods like asian rice crisps, rice crackers, etc. I looked at the...
  4. Ok, so we're finally trying some new foods with the little one. I'm looking for some prepackaged things to buy that I can take along on trips and what not. She needs to be gluten/casein/egg/corn/apple free and I would prefer soy/nitrate/nitrite free as well, but that's personal preference and I can be flexible there. Any ideas? Ideally I'm looking for things...
  5. I called Seltzer's lebanon balogna today to make sure their sweet balogna is corn free. It is currently labeled as gluten free. I double checked on that as well. They were very friendly. I just wanted to give my daughter a special treat since she's never had lunchmeat before since most contain corn. Anyway, enjoy!
  6. My fingertips and toes used to tingle much of the time. That has gotten increasingly better over the 4+ years I've been gluten free. Most days I don't even notice it anymore. On my worst days now they just feel kind of tingly and itchy, but it never interferes with my life anymore. There are many others on the board who have experienced neuropathy to some...
  7. Are you wheat free or gluten free? If you have Celiac Disease you will likely not notice a big change, if any, only eliminating wheat, especially if you're relying heavily on barley, rye, and oats to make up grain intake. As for your child, I believe most of the leading Celiac experts recommend getting all first degree family members tested because it...
  8. I just wanted to let you guys know that this morning we found an "O" shaped piece of cereal in my husband's Crispy Rice w/ Berries box of cereal. I searched the website and the only "O" shaped cereal made by that company is Oaties which obviously are made primarily of oats and not listed as gluten free. Luckily my husband isn't the Celiac in the family, so...
  9. I have one of the new boxes of Strawberry Chex. Well, I guess I should say I HAD one of the new boxes. It was gone in less than 24 hours between the three of us. What a treat! This stuff is soooooooo good for an occasional treat!!!
  10. Red Bridge is really good. It took me about a six pack to get used to the flavor, but now I drink that exclusively. All the other gluten free beers taste weird to me now. My husband and friends all drink Red Bridge as well when they are at our house and only one person has disliked it (he had just finished a "regular" beer and then had a piece of gum... eek...
  11. We have stayed at regular hotels off the Disney property. I make sure there's a microwave and fridge in the room for nighttime snacks. We do the Disney parks every other day. Those days that we don't do Disney parks we eat simple foods like gluten free cereal for breakfast, fruit for snacks, hot dogs and steam-in-bag veggies for lunch, gluten free crackers...
  12. To the best of my knowledge General Mills is one of the "good" companies that will list any and all gluten...
  13. Hey, look at these too!!! Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Gluten free? Appears to be...
  14. Berry Berry Kix is gluten-free???
  15. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my absolute favorite snack prior to going gluten free! Let us know what you find.
  16. Quinoa is excellent and can be prepared so many ways. You could use veggie broth instead of water and cook. Then stir fry some veggies in olive oil, add the cooked quinoa for 5 minutes at the end. Delicious and nutritious!!! Mrs. Dash also does wonders for different flavor quinoa dishes.
  17. I don't have much to add... We try to go to Disney once a year because it's the ONLY place I feel safe eating out. I've never EVER gotten sick there. They are truly wonderful, just be really careful at the counter service places or you could have some big oopsies. We almost did (3 times at one place). The sit down places are great. My favorite is the 50's...
  18. The epicenter was somewhere just north of Salunga (Columbia/Elizabethtown area for those who don't know where Salunga is). It was only a 3.4, but it definitely shook the house good and we're about 20 miles from Salunga. My one friend lives in Millersville and she said it knocked pictures off the walls and everything off the counters. Open Original Shared...
  19. I realize this post is almost 2 months old, but I'm hoping you read this anyway. We go to Kutztown every Wednesday during the summer for racing and we pass right by Oley. I'm not sure where Malvern is, but I would love to check out the indian store. We come through on 272. How far from that route is it?
  20. Try this recipe: Open Original Shared Link Instead of the all-purpose flour use 3 parts white rice flour, 2 parts potato starch, and 1 part tapioca starch. Add 1 teaspoon xantham gum per cup of flour used. These are by far the best cookies I've ever had, gluten free or not.
  21. We just had an earthquake last night, no damage. Anyone else feel it? It's the first one I've ever experienced.
  22. A glass of Sprite plus a shot (or two) of vodka and a splash of lemon juice. It's quick because everything comes out of a bottle and it tastes VERY similar to Mike's Hard Lemonade when you get the proportions right. I used to drink this all the time before I acquired a taste for beer.
  23. I too saw this article as a very positive thing. I think they were pleading for people to take these diseases seriously rather than minimize them, as they have been in the past. Great article! Thanks for posting.
  24. Thanks Patti! And thanks to everyone else who gave me ideas. We've been able to add a fair amount of fat in through beef and canola oil. She is FINALLY trying some new things. Well, same food, but in different combinations. Hopefully this will open her up to trying new things that the doctor wants her to try. I guess we'll see what happens with the weight...
  25. THANK YOU!!! We still have some baby food laying around. I'll try that and see how it turns out. The poor thing is overdue for some yummy treats. Perhaps I'll even be able to make veggie flavored "bread" for her snacks. Think it would work without the sugar?
