  1. Hello everyone Has anyone here used hair analysis? Following my recent miscarriages, we decided to follow a pre-conception programme that tries to address health issues in preparation for pregnancy, particularly by hair analysis for vitamin & mineral levels and metal toxicity. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of it. It'll take about ...
  2. On the back of Judy's question...is it just the salts that cause the detox and hence make you feel bad, or the actual bath itself? I don't put anything in my bath, as everything seems to irritate me, but if I spend more than 10 minutes in the bath (and I like them hot) I do feel rough. Is it a detox thing then? I've read about having showers where you shower...
  3. Tom - seeing as you're so knowledgeable about candida can you tell me something that I genuinely want to know the answer to as I get high scores on those candida quizzes too - how do you know that you're scoring high because it's candida and not something else eg food intolerances and the general toll coeliac takes on the system? Thanks for any input!
  4. Migraines and bad headaches were plaguing me more and more in the run-up to me being diagnosed, and going gluten free made me pretty much headache free as well Hormones do however trigger migraines for me still, but it's great to have headaches so more infrequently. I hope you get the answers you're looking for Supermom.
  5. I'm thinking of having my vitamin & mineral levels checked by hair strand testing as I have classic signs of some deficiencies (ridged nails etc). I was wondering about hair testing, but my GP was fairly sceptical about it (not that that means anything ). Just wondering what other people think of it and whether anyone has tried it and had helpful results...
  6. I sometimes seem to have this problem with sugar too. I had some chocolate raisins this morning before going to the GPs and my pulse when he measured it was 106 I know I've got to get myself sorted, although now's not a good time to have to give up chocolate...but what I was wondering Burdee is how do you tell what type of sugar something has in it?...
  7. I've been doing a lot of research as a result of my miscarriage, and come across a UK site with lots of really helpful information about being prepared for pregnancy. I hope I'm allowed to post it here - it is a charity and the information sheets are enormously helpful. Open Original Shared Link Susie x
  8. praying for you and your mum Paula. Susie x
  9. Wow...I'm overwhelmed by all your support and love. Thanks so much everyone, it means a huge amount. Susie x
  10. I've had another miscarriage This time at 9 weeks. I had a scan just as it was starting, and there was no sign of a baby, just an egg sac - like with my first miscarriage. This is my third one now, so I'm being referred for investigations. If anyone has any good links on the subject for me to read, I'd appreciate it. It makes me appreciate my darling...
  11. Yes - although maybe not quite as badly as you Are there any other plain comfort foods that you would be happy to eat? eg potatoes? I'm happy with a tummy full of potato It is difficult when you're feeling sick all the time - it seems that nothing you can eat will 'hit the spot'. Maybe that's why we crave something we can't have?
  12. I hadn't been diagnosed when I was pregnant with DS and I craved dairy loads, despite usually not liking it. What I didn't know then was that I'm intolerant to dairy. I had a really yucky stomach for a lot of my pregnancy. I'm 8 weeks pregnant now, and gluten free and dairy very-lite. I'm very concious of the need for calcium whilst pregnant (I wonder if...
  13. That's brilliant! Congratulations!
  14. OOh how exciting! I've been really impatient like that too. Take a test! Mine showed positive the day after my missed period. If it doesn't happen this time, I hope it does really soon. S x
  15. Hi! I'm only just pregnant & due on 17 Feb. This will be my second, all being well, although I have had 2 miscarriages. DS was born before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Dionne - your little one is due on my birthday When I felt really rough whilst pregnant with DS, my mum said it must be a boy coz of that. Those boys, they've got a lot to...
  16. Thanks for the kind thoughts and advice ladies I went to my GP yesterday, and he said the pain could be one of three things: my celiac disease, a threatening miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, but that my stomach felt fine on examination so that he doubted it was any of them He sent me off to hospital, where they told me it was too early to scan...
  17. Hi everyone! I haven't posted here in a while, as I was getting too addicted to the forum Anyways, I just found out that I am pregnant and am scared. I have one DS already, and I'm sure being pregnant with him and b/f for 18 months really brought to the fore my celiac disease. I was diagnosed when he was 2. I've been gluten-free 18 months. We...
  18. Hi Rachel hvae you kept a list of links on what the causes are of leaky guts and what the possible pathogens are and what tests are needed to establish what the issues are in an individual? I want to get to the bottom of these issues, but it's very difficult in the UK as leaky gut is not recognised by the mainstream medical profession. It means I will have...
  19. Welcome Monica! Stick around on this thread as there's so much to learn here from some wonerful people
  20. sorry to hear about your teeth & throat Donna. Hope you're feeling better soon. Do you get sore throats a lot?
  21. Rachel - thanks as always for sharing the info about your appointment omg!! I've been wondering about my tongue, hoping like heck it's not candida. But I just googled oral candida and matched the following picture to my tongue: Open Original Shared Link I hope that works! I can see from looking at the other candida pictures that...
  22. Hi everyone! Carla, it was me who mentioned the prebiotics v probiotics - I saw it on a documentary which studied 2 groups of people who ate the relevant foods. Can't say either way from experience though, as I can't eat prebiotic foods at the mo! I could really do with some encouragement on this elimination diet. I'm 6 days in and for the past...
  23. Thanks so much for sharing this I hope you feel better from the beans really soon. The tough thing about stopping eating the foods that do this to us is, in my very recent experience (I've just started an elimination diet) the withdrawal effects, as often the things that are worse for us are the ones we're addicted to. Nancy - I think I'm starting...
  24. No. I was really poorly, as if I'd been glutened, after using a codex cake mix last summer. Never again! I'm of the camp that can't get my head around how any amount of gluten can be ok.
  25. Hi Nikki thought you'd like to know - we took DS to the GP on Monday, and he ordered the coeliac panel bloods & has referred DS to a peadiatrician. In Cov, we have to go to the hospital for bloods, which makes it an even bigger deal, so we are not looking forward to that Carla: what you were saying about bacteria is interesting. I saw a TV...
