ARCHIVED Does Anyone Know If Rose Art Brand Watercolor Paints Are Safe?
chrissy replied to Kassidy's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
i don't think you can expect her TTg levels to return to normal until 3-6 months being gluten free, so i'll bet the pretzels are your only problem if you are pretty diligent-----as i am sure you are! -
ARCHIVED My Dilemma
chrissy replied to moonunit's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
antigliadin numbers can be raised by things other than celiac. in fact, i think alot of people have anti-bodies to things that they don't have any problems with. it doesn't look to me like your son tests positive for celiac. a lot of kids are a bit fussy by nature. i am like you, and would prefer a diagnosis by a doctor. this is just my personal opinion... -
ARCHIVED Skip Biopsy?
chrissy replied to mom2easton&eli's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
alot of people swear by enterolab and believe wholly in it. i don't believe there are any "peer reviewed" journals that address dr. fine's work. (somebody correct me if i am wrong) i personally would not use them myself as i think the amount of people they diagnose with gluten problems is way too high to be accurate. my family is involved in a celiac... -
ARCHIVED Mcann's Oatmeal
chrissy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i know that some of you use mcann's oatmeal without problems. i have found some flavored oatmeal packets made by mcann's. do you you think these would be safe to give my girls? they have eaten mcann's oatmeal out of the box without a problem. -
after someone on here asked about finding tritamyl flour, i did a little research on wheat starch. i found some articles on celiac.com that say studies have been done that show wheat starch does not harm a celiac. some of the info on wheat starch comes from other countries, who are supposed to be ahead of the USA in celiac research, and they are allowing...

ARCHIVED Skip Biopsy?
chrissy replied to mom2easton&eli's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
as an added note of interest-----it is supposed to be of concern when a child changes across 2 major lines of the growth chart-----up or down. -
ARCHIVED Skip Biopsy?
chrissy replied to mom2easton&eli's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
having a biopsy WILL give you other information, not just info about celiac. the eosinophil cells i mentioned before will likely be there if your child has food allergies. a biopsy will tell you if your child has undiagnosed gerd, (which can effect growth and behavior) or if your child has eosinophilic esophagitits----food allergies can also affect growth... -
i'm thinking the same thing as marcia----you may eventually be able to add some of these things back.

do you consider the biopsy worthless because it did not show DH? maybe what you have on your scalp really "IS" minor superficial dermatitis.

ARCHIVED Skip Biopsy?
chrissy replied to mom2easton&eli's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
depending on what tests the doctor ran, your son may or may not have celiac. if i were you, i would stick to your doctors advice until you are a little more certain about what you are doing. if, for example, your doctor ran an anti-gliadin test and a TTg test and the TTg was negative and the anti-gliadin was positive, then your son could have something... -
yes! that's what they are called! they really do work well.

sorry i can't be of much help------the only thing i can think of is that those little white cleaning sponges really do work good on walls. for the life of me i can't remember what they are called. i'm sure you have alot of black to clean off, but the little white things might work really well for the finishing touch. christine

ARCHIVED A Question About Enterolab
chrissy replied to IMResident's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
[What you must grasp is that people with minimal villi damage (undetected by biopsy) will have negative blood work and yet have systemic autoimmune syndrome] this thread is not an arguement that i want to get involved in------but i just wanted to say that the above statement is not true. my girls had positive blood work with no villi damage detected... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease
chrissy replied to SVG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i had several meltdowns when my girls were first diagnosed----but it really isn't as bad as it seems to you right now. one of my girls recently spent several months in the hospital. i was concerned she was getting gluten. the dietician assured me that they had kids come through their hospital all the time with celiac and that they were ordering in things... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Grass (not Full Grown) Is Gluten-free?
chrissy replied to Quaxo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i've also read it was safe, but i wouldn't trust it. -
ARCHIVED The Response I Got From
chrissy replied to Turtle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
they sent me a totally different response----i'll see if i can figure out how to post it on here. Dear Mrs. Heiner: Thank you for contacting General Mills regarding gluten in our our cereal. It is our goal to help our consumers determine whether or not they can include our products in their diet. To accurately accomplish this, we believe... -

ARCHIVED Sourdough Wheat Bread?
chrissy replied to Mayflowers's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Gimme The Lowdown On Stevia
chrissy replied to mythreesuns's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
stevia is safe. it is in the supplement section because it is an herbal product. i have found that i like stevia better on cold cereal than sugar-----and i have never cared for the tasted of artificial sweeteners------i guess i must like stevia because it is not artificial!! i have never tried using it for other things. -
ARCHIVED Secretiveness
chrissy replied to BFreeman's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
i think that people who don't want people to know about their celiac disease have every right to decide what they want people to know about them-----but i also think they are missing out on a great opportunity to educate people.
