  1. my girls' reflux did not improve when they went gluten-free, in fact, tianna thought she could quit her prevacid, but got symptoms and had to go back on prevacid. she had not had symptoms of reflux before gluten free, we only knew she had esophagitis from her biopsy.
  2. one of my daughter's biopsies showed and increase in intraepithelia lymphocytes, also. one of the other girls had a negative biopsy, and we didn't even scope the youngest one. they all had positive TTg tests which have gone down now that they are gluten free. one of them was fed gluten when we were not away of it and her TTg levels went really high after...
  3. hi azmom3-----i pulled out some of our tests so i could tell you about low IgA. there are different reference ranges for different ages. this is what four of our tests say--(ages 15-50) we all have a reference range of 44-441----i assume anything between these numbers is normal. kevin is 233, i am 203, kassie is 64, and ian, the one that is deficient...
  4. jenn-----i second what ursula says-----don't cook 2 different meals. we have 8 kids still at home, only 3 of which have celiac, but we only cook gluten free meals. it is so much easier this way. we eat alot of the same things we used to eat "pre-diagnosis", we just use different ingredients or different brands. i do buy crackers, cold cereal and bread...
  5. do you have a copy of your son's lab report so can actually see how low is IgA level is? the fererence range on the TTg test we had done on him said that .7 was normal-------ian was .1 i kind of figure that his deficiency might explain why he always seems to havae a cold in the winter, and why he had so many ear infections as a baby. do you have a...
  6. my 17 year old son is IgA deficient. our ped gi had a whole different set of tests run on him, including gene testing, because the normal tests are useless with a low IgA. we learned that he is genetically susceptible to getting celiac, but does not appear to have any active disease right now. low IgA is not a sign of celiac, but it often goes along...
  7. celina---if it's any comfort to you, my youngest is almost the same age and weight as your daughter. (and we are very pleased with her size since she was failure to thrive for 2 years) she does not have celiac disease. celiac can appear at any time after someone starts to eat gluten. it really is not harder to have more than one child with celiac...
  8. i've heard the same thing about food combinations and intolerances as daffadilly.
  9. how old is nicole?
  10. when you daughter has a bowel movement doesn't sound like it is an issue invloving celiac disease-----i am assuming she is being tested based on something else?
  11. i think you need to know the cause of the gastric troubles before trying to cure them with anything "natural". natural does not equal safe. some "natural" things can be more dangerous than "un-natural" meds.
  12. i don't think it would be very likely for a baby that young to test positive for celiac.
  13. wow!!!! you have your hands full at such a young age----i am impressed with your obviously giving nature. maybe once the boys are gluten free for a little while some of the other allergies will clear up. there is a web site called the allergy grocer that i think would be helpful for you. you put in all the allergies you are dealing with, and they tell...
  14. do you wear a filter mask when you sand?
  15. i've used cornstarch for years to thicken-----long before we were cooking gluten free. don't try tapioca starch. my daughter did this by accident once (thought she was grabbing the cornstarch) it was a chicken gravy. the taste was fine, but i just had a really hard time eating it because it looked like the alien slime you see on sci-fi shows---it...
  16. what was involved in phase 1 of the testing? is phase 2 human trials? if i remember right, this drug will only work for celiacs, not those with wheat allergies---is this right?
  17. we are testing our girls TTg levels on a fairly regular basis and can tell whether or not they get gluten. i think if someone were to test levels before using the med, and then test again within 3 months, they would get a pretty good idea of whether or not the zonulin was working.
  18. our ped gi said the gluten free diet is a healthy diet and that they use it for other conditions, such as irritable bowel.
  19. my daughters eating disorder was going to kill her long before celiac would have taken it's final toll, if we had not hospitalized her. eating disorders are definitely a deadly disease. maybe they are more interesting for talk shows because they are so hard to understand. celiac disease is a genetic disease, so we know exactly where it comes from----maybe...

    ARCHIVED Amitriptyline

the brand name is elavil. i have taken this recently to try and help my sleep for my fibromyalgia. it did help for a short period of time----but it also made me very sleepy. i've never heard ofit helping colon problems. sometimes it can make it difficult to pee. (just to get it started)
  21. well....if she likes eating disorder shows----maybe i could write her about my daughter having anorexia AND celiac disease and how complicated celiac disease made her eating disorder, and how the hospital couldn't manage to keep her gluten free which probably explains her slow weight gain--------- and we could get it past her that way???
  22. thanks!! you put a lot of work into this list.
  23. i PM'd you again------the other night i realized i had PM'd myself by accident. LOL!!
  24. i have been trying to figure out the gluten intolerant gene question for a little while---i guess i should post a general question on the board.
  25. i do not have celiac, but i also get that sour taste in my mouth after eating certain things---so i'd say it is probably not a celiac thing----but i'd like to know why i get it. i've never heard anyone else mention this.
