  2. is your baby on a high enough dose of prevacid? babies metabolize the medication faster than adults, so they are finding they need higher doses than was previously thought. i hate to tell you this, but crying only aggravates the reflux and makes it worse. we did whay we could to keep sylvia from crying. my baby's reflux was bad enough that she required...

  5. "what is fair to the rest of the family?" i always tell my kids that there is no such thing as fair.
  6. one of my kids has no symptoms, and of the other two, only one gets intestinal distress----so the bathroom stories don't necessarily work for us.
  7. if your son has food allergies, the biopsies will show eosinophilic cells in his esophagitis, or possibly his colon. people can have eosinophilic esophagitis, and eosinophilic colitis---both of which will show these eosinophils, or "allergy cells" in the part of the body that is being affected by them. your son could also have celiac and just be too young...
  8. it damages your small intestine.
  9. the TTg test tells how much damage you have---since yours is normal, it doesn't appear that you have intestinal damage. you have antibiodies to the protein in gluten---which can be caused by other things than celiac disease. why did your doctor run all these blood tests----what symptoms were you having?
  10. and what kassie isn't telling you----is that she has become quite a GOOD baker since going gluten free----using mostly our "old" recipes.
  11. you can ask to be put on a round of diflucan. we suspected esophageal thrush in my baby after she had her fundo----the doc put her on diflucan (without scoping her) and we saw a major improvement.
  12. my twins lose a lot of hair. our vaccum is full of it, our drains are full of it, the floors, you name it. when i take clothes our of the dryer, i often have wound up balls of hair that come out. i talked to our ped gi about this. he told me that when someone has been sick, that their hair can miss an entire growth cycle----so after they start to get...
  13. diflucan is the anti-fungal med that the ped gi gave my girls when they got esophageal thrush----it is pretty good stuff.
  14. one of my twins had and endoscopy last year for her reflux and it showed little white bumps all over in her esophagus. she had a yeast infection in her esophagus.

  17. we think that enerG crackers taste alot like saltines---minus the salt.
  18. we have a well, so no fluoride. sylvia is not on a bottle and we brush her teeth every night. when she was failure to thrive (really bad reflux, fundo, and then obstructive sleep apnea) we had her on pediasure, so i had her on a bottle longer than normal. her teeth started looking a little rough then, but it has been a long time since she has been on...
  19. my baby had really bad reflux-----she had a fundoplication just before she turned 10 months old. we discovered she had a good sized hiatal hernia. she had alot of esophageal damage and she was on prevacid and carafate. i think if it were me, i would get him on meds ( a PPI is best) and look more into what might be causing the reflux.
  20. here is a recipe that you can use to make your own onion soup mix. 4 teaspoons instant beef bouillon granules 8 teaspoons dried minced onion 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon bon appetit seasoning (?) makes one package onion seasoning mix
  21. my youngest daughter, nearly 3, has terrible teeth. her little mouth is filling with cavities and she has brown lines on her front teeth. 9 months ago she tested negative for celiac, but i know the tests are not accurate at her age. i saw a picture of celiac dental enamel defects recently on a site that someone on here posted----the picture looked exactly...

  25. i am the same way with smells!!!!! i have been this way ever since i was pregnant with my 11 year old. i am not bothered too much by fruity smells, but anything perfumy makes me sick----not nauseated, but sick. once i used some "unscented" hair spray that had too much of a smell. it was really bothering me, so i washed my hair, but it must have gotten...
