  1. i pretty new at this, so i don't know if it is common or not. molly has complained about her legs for quite awhile. usually she says they feel numb, but i think she is having a hard time giving me a good description of what she is feeling. she also has complained about stomach aches off and on. someone else on the board--can't remember who--told me that...
  2. yep, betamethasone is a steroid cream. i have used it for 30+ years on my atopic dermatitis. i use betamethasone valerate -----brand name is valisone. i don't know how it would work for DH, but it works wonderfully for my atopic dermatitis. christine
  3. we have a winco about 45 min away from us. my daughter is going to college in that town----i will have to send her over to see if our winco carries the gluten free stuff. were the gluten free foods any less expensive at winco? christine
  4. we haven't talked to the doctor about her blue lips----it only seems tohappen if she is cold, but she is cold so much of the time........her iron was checked the same day her blood was drawn for the celiac screen---she is not anemic. we will be seeing the ped gi with all three girls next week----i guess i better start writing down everything i need to ask...
  5. i know i said that my girls didn't really have symptoms, so it was going to be hard to tell if we were doing the diet right. what was i thinking----one of my twins has been nauseated for about 3 months. i don't know how many times she came to me in tears because she felt so lousy, or i had to pick her up from school. yesterday i asked her if she was starting...
  6. i completely understand!! i've had to fight back tears in the store before, and i am worried about feeding my kids properly, too. it seems like i am spending so much more for food------we have 8 kids at home and i already felt like i barely had enough grocery money pre-diagnosis. i sure am hoping that as this becomes more "natural?" for us, it will be...
  7. just wondering if any of you are non-celiac, but gluten free? meaning, i guess, that you wnet gluten free for other reasons. i don't have celiac, nor does my husband, but obviously one or both of us carry the gene since several of our children have celiac. i have had depression for so many years and have had bouts with anxiety and panic attacks. i have...
  8. thank you!!! christine
  9. does anyone know if gummy bears are safe to eat. christine
  10. one of my kids has rashes----this is actually why we had testing done in the first place-----but i am not sure if she has DH or if it is just plain old atopic dermatits (like i have). christine
  11. can someone post the UPC code for me so i can maybe get one of our local stores to order it in. i looked in one of our little market stores order book and it wasn't in there. smiths (kroger) said they could order it in for me if i had the UPC code. christine
  12. where do you get this stuff? is it only available if you order it yourself? christine
  13. nikkie, that is so sweet of you!! but, we already have one almost done and the other is partially sewn. i can't believe you sewed so many!!! what was the play? christine
  14. i have been reading danna rock's book about raising celiac children. it says in there that gluten molecules are too large to be absorbed through the skin----so why do so many people worry about using make-up with gluten in it? i can see the reasons for worrying about lip products and hand lotion----but won't hand washing take care of the risk of ingesting...
  15. today when my daughter packed her lunch she took 1 rice cake, some cheetos, and 1 cookie. she says she just isn't interested in food. she is 14 1/2 years old.(9th grade) her twin sister keeps worrying about her and has told me that even one of her friends has said something. i have battles anxiety and depression for years, my oldest son has horrible...
  16. i'm so glad to find this thread!!!! i was going to ask about home canning since it dawned on me one day (as i bought a more expensive chilie for my girls), that i could make my own and can it. i used to do alot of canning, but with having so many babies and my fibromyalgia creeping in on me, i had kind of abaondoned it. do any of you make and can your own...
  17. she sounds like she has reflux problems. IMHO, zantac is worthless. a PPI, such as prevacid works much better for treating infant reflux. alot of reflux babies gain weight fine. fighting the breast or bottle, though, could become an issue as time goes on---they don't want to eat because it hurts!! i have been trying to figure out if there is some connection...
  18. one of my twins seems really depressed. she hardly ever smiles, she doesn't eat alot and is as thin as a rail, she says she doesn't enjoy anything anymore and that she doesn't like to be around people. the ped gi told me we need to address the depression now, rather than wait to see if the diet will turn things around. he says that depression in a celiac...
  19. now that i have gotten past the first few weeks of diagnosis, i have realized that i can save a fair amount of money by still having gluten snacks and foods around for the 5 children at home that don't have celiac. my laundry room is right next to my kitchen, so as soon as i get a counter in there, i figure i will keep bread and a toaster out there. i keep...
  20. our allergist was going to wait to do a celiac screen on me IF my allergy test was positive for wheat or barley etc. LOL!!!!LOL!!!!LOL!!! why doesn't an allergist know the difference between celiac and an allergy? christine
  21. if her reflux is bad enough to require an endoscopy, they would see eosinophils, which would indicate an allergy to something she is eating. crying alot with her spitting sounds like a problem with reflux. how old is she? does she ever arch her back when she is crying? do you ever have trouble getting her to eat? christine
  22. one of my celiac kids has had allergy testing done and she is not "allergic" to wheat. christine
  23. neocate is the formula you are looking for. it is amino acid based, i believe. my baby had severe reflux (fundoplication and hiatal hernia repair) and i have spent alot of time on a reflux board. alot of the babies with reflux have MSPI (milk soy protein intolerance) and end up on neocate formula. my friend has a baby that is allergic to EVERYTHING--...
  24. hi all! my son's blood test came back IgA deficient, so the doc will be running a different test on him through prometheus labs----not sure what it is. will i have a problem getting my insurance to cover tests done by this lab? christine
