  1. Hi Cristiana, I was interested in your post. I, too, have been better, then worse, only to repeat the cycle again. I had been posting in the Corn thread, and it seems the author of that thread (Ssdave?) is having the same problem. I received many helpful replies in that thread, which I followed up on, but ultimately, none worked out, and i am back...
  2. Hi Cristiana, How are you doing now?
  3. LOL, it's like reading a horror story! Thanks to both of you for the links. This could explain a lot. I had read that Round Up is allowed in organic farming in the U.S. As I read more, I see that organic farmers try to avoid using it ... but who knows if that's just a few or most of them. I had to give in and go on PPI's, as my upper GI bloating...
  4. Thanks! After looking it over, I still think I'm ok with sulfites ... maybe not in a high concentration, or maybe not in certain forms. I do wonder if it's the way that some chips and tortillas are treated. i can usually tolerate tortillas and small amounts of potato chips, but not Terra chips and similar ones.
  5. Arrrgh !!!! One more thing to watch for! Thank you SOOO much, Knitty Kitty, for this info! I knew it was something to do with the processing, but had not yet heard of this. I am still trying to stabilize after new dairy intolerance a few months ago. I seem to keep getting exposed to something that exacerbates my symptoms, but I can't figure...
  6. Have you tried other corn products? I had a problem with a bag of beet/sweet potato chips. It wasn't the beets or the sweet potatoes. It was the processing or harshness of the chips.
  7. Just thought of something else. Have you tried cream of rice cereal? When I was at my worst, I'd have this a few times a day to settle my stomach.
  8. Maybe the 20 mg. was too strong for you and increasing symptoms? I have a very low threshold for most meds, and do better on child sized doses. If you tolerate the 10 mg., that may be the way to go just to get symptoms under control and get stabilized. Or maybe 10 mg. every other day, if that works. I read that food intolerance symptoms can take...
  9. Are you substituting something for the PPI? I'm not sure what meds will mix well with it, but you could ask the pharmacy or Dr. for advice on what might work. I'm thinking you stopped something that may be helping in some ways, and are now allowing your symptoms to return. If so, it makes sense to find something else to help with symptom control. ...
  10. Thanks, I'll look into these. This is what I'd seen re: lanolin in d3. Open Original Shared Link
  11. Which D3 supplements aren't made from lanolin? I had skin inflammation in the past from topical lanolin. I'm not sure if processed ingested lanolin in D3 should concern me, but thought I'd consider a non lanolin version.
  12. Is your concern the social aspects of eating on the job, or not always feeling well enough to get out the door? I'm in health care, and just happened to be in home care when I was diagnosed. It actually works well, as I make my own hours, and can reschedule visits as need be. I would think you could complete your MBA easily, maybe part time if...
  13. Can you tolerate nut milks? I find macadamia milk the gentlest on my stomach. The only brand I've seen here in the US is Milkadamia, and it comes sweetened or not, and fortified with some vitamins. I think this brand is from Australia. Or you could make your own. As for time, it can take awhile, and that seems to be more the norm. A recent new dairy...
  14. I've lost 3-4 pounds. It surprises me, as I would have expected to lose more, considering how limited my diet has been, how sick I was since early May, and now walking 35 to 45 min. after dinner. I think it's the increased gluten-free bread and shortbread cookies. I've eaten more of these as they settle my stomach and are safe when I'm not sure what...
  15. LOL, re: trousers vs. pants. Here in the US, trousers are a specific kind of pants/slacks, with a looser fit and often with pleats in the front. I also read that Vit D helps digestion; can't recall the links, but likely within Gundry's writings about lectin. My Dr. just told me to resume 2000 IU per day, and I do think it's made a slight difference...
  16. Hi Cristina, Thank you ... A couple other things to consider: - Your stomach is about the size of your fist. Lol, I always think of it as being more like 2-3 fists. I recently read that eating smaller amounts that do not fill the stomach makes it easier for the stomach to do its work. i have started matching meals to my fist size or less...
  17. Are your test results just a list of foods? Is there any info that shows you how severe your intolerance is to each? And are these for-sure intolerances, or related food groups that may be intolerances? I'm wondering if you might be able to start with just the worst offenders. Sometimes intolerances are cumulative ... remove the worst and occasional...
  18. i have similar symptoms now, thanks to sudden new dairy intolerance after increased dairy consumption in April and a McDonald's milkshake in early May. i think sometimes we start increasing certain foods or a variety of foods, and then it catches up. I thought at first I'd been glutened, but by the time the test kits arrived I was suspecting dairy and...
  19. Is Bards available in your area? I found Bards and Redbridge to be the best, but had to quit both as they gave me sinus problems. I've recently been reading Dr. Gundry's new book, The Plant Paradox. It has helped me with a new dairy intolerance. Although a cardiac surgeon, he has shifted focus to the impact diet has on health. He discusses lectins...
  20. I had dashboard pasta today (meatless). My local gluten-free bakery makes an awesome plain pasta, so I have it in a container in the fridge, ready to go. I put some in my cooler today. I had spread it out in a shallow round container, so there was only one layer. I put it on my dash when I made a stop, and came out to nice warm pasta.
  21. A couple other ideas as I pack my food for the day... - You don't say if you will also need to find rest rooms throughout the day. I do home care, so where I stop for rest room use often depends on whether I need food as well, and what kind. To combine into one stop, try gas stations / convenience stores, grocery stores (a bit more time to park...
  22. It probably won't help you right now, but gas stations often have a little fruit display, bags of nuts, cheese sticks, P3 snack kits, or yogurt.
  23. I know what you mean about never knowing how much food to bring. For backup, it helps to know which fast food places have gluten-free options, like Wendy's chili, baked potato, salad, or Frosty. I have made a dashboard grilled cheese. Make a cheese sandwich on toast, put in your cooler. Depending on the heat and sun, if you place it on the dashboard...
  24. I work from my car and like a light lunch. My go to lunch is roasted sweet potatoes, mixed veggies, and tuna. I buy frozen roasted sweet potatoes (hard to find, I get at Target), frozen veggies. Cook both in microwave, divide into containers for the week, add tuna. I like this cold. I sometimes substitute a hard boiled egg, or cut up gluten-free chicken...
  25. Bomba rice from Spain is supposedly grown in the mountains, and low in arsenic. I just tried some from tiende.com, no problems, but then I'm not sensitive to rice. Have you tried Lundberg Organic Basmati? A friend is allergic to grass, and can't tolerate rice. She was told they are similar botanically. If you haven't been tested for allergies...
