Are you eating beets? When you have a fast bowel beets come out red. Hope you can get some answers!

I'm guessing it's either an issue with my gall bladder or maybe just this brand. Last night we went out to eat and I ordered the grilled salmon. I can eat about 5 oz. of salmon, vinagrette on my salad and butter on my potato and not feel sick like I did with one capsule of the salmon oil. I'm pretty sure 1,000 mg, is like 4 oz of salmon. So I guess my next step would be to try a different brand.
I don't want to give up on this because I know the benefits of omega 3 are phenomenal. Thanks to those who commented.

I just starting taking EPA/DHA essentials from pure encapsulations. It has 1000 mg of fish oil concentrate. However, I'm feeling naucous. Its a medium level, all day feeling much like motion sickness if you ever had that. I don't like it and its has to be from this fish oil. I guess I've been eating healthy for quite a few years now so I don't have fried foods or fatty foods that I can connect this feeling to, although I remember getting sick from eating alot of chicken wings and someone mentioning its very high fat because your eating alot of chicken skin. I never ate them again.
Has anyone else expirence this taking fish oil? Did you continue to take it.
Thanks for any help with this.

Ursla,
How wonderful ! I really believe there's alot of us (me included) that don't get the attention we need when it
comes to our adrenals. I find it so frustrating that I can't do as much as I want because I'm so wiped out, especially to plan to do activities two days in a row. I have to rest in between. I think its just great you found this doctor. Looking forward to hearing more when you get home.

I agree completely with this statement.
In doing an elimination diet, I found that legumes caused terrible, room-clearing excess gas. Not just beans, either--string beans, cashews, all of them.
Try keeping a simple food diary for a while--just jot down what you eat and drink and how you felt that day and that evening. A pattern should soon become apparent.
I cannot digest beans eigher. Bob's redmill has a bread mix ( I think it was called hearty or whole grain) that I made the otherday. I was excited that it seemed healthier then eating white rice flour. I had to throw it all out because it not only caused gas but it was painful gas. It hurted all the while it took its time to travel through the colon. I know his mixes contain bean flours so I assume thats it.
Not worth it.

I get D from dairy, but I think I'll try yoghurt with a good dose of lactaid and see if that works for probiotics.
Corinne, In this case the yogurt is in the yogurt maker for a long time, much longer then what regular yogurt recipes call for. It just get rid of all lactose whatsoever. You might be able to handle it. I'm hoping your body will except it since it's so important for your healing.

Heartlands gluten free performance blend flour. I swear if my house were burning I'd grab my pets, pictures and my performance blend flour.
well I have to order it online and I may not get access.
Pamela's brownie mix
Applegate hotdogs expecially if I was on vacation.
Tinkyada spaghetti noodles
Lungberg Rice chips and rice
Namaste cake mixes
Bob's Red Mill pure buckwheat flour
A reputable bakery style gluten free bread and buns
Back to Nature Rice Thins
Pamela's ready made cookies
I'd be pretty content with this. There are the items I have to have always in my pantry.

Well, we've been afraid to go out to eat since our four year old had to start a gluten-free casein-free diet. But finally we ran out of options. We were on day trip to Milwaukee, WI and only had enough food brought along for lunch, so we decided to try dinner at Chili's. This is on Bluemound Rd, near the Milwaukee Zoo. Their website provides monthly updated menus for both gluten-free and casein/milk free dining and recommends that you ask to speak to the manager. I told our waiter what we were looking for and he sent the manager to our table. The manager was great and went over the menus with us. After the waiter took our order, the manager went over the order to make sure everything we ordered would be safe for us (the whole family has gone gluten-free-CF to prevent cross table eating accidents). The manager then went back and cooked the entire meal HIMSELF so that he could ensure that no one touched a bun and then touched our food etc. The burgers were grilled on aluminum foil to prevent cross cont. He assured us that he does this on a regular basis and that it was no problem. It was a fantastic meal and everyone went home satisfied and healthy.
Alexis
Isn't that nice of the manager to do that! I'm so happy that your day didn't end in a disaster because of an unfriendly resturant. Heaven knows they're enough of them.

Its only gotten worse for me. I used to be able to eat a small amt. but now after having it for over 30 years I'm as sensitive as ever. I hardly ever eat packaged foods anymore. I make everything myself, as far as soups and gravies, pizzas, sauces but alot of celiacs do that anyway so it wasn't a big transition for me when I found out about the gluten. The only chips I'll have is a plain potato chip or I've had the rice chips by lundberg (fiesta lime) and I didn't react to those. I still only have them occasionally.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm beeeeeeeer . . . . . . .
Had to quit 5-7 yrs ago (been 100% gluten-free going on 4yrs but went nearly gluten-free well before).
There was a time when I was about as much a beer connoisseur as a non-pro could be.
I could distinguish about all of the major dometics & more popular imports in blind taste-tests. Friends stopped trying to stump me I swear!!
<hmmm this one is feldschlossen-hopfenperle, that's zurich lowie>
So of course I was thrilled each time a gluten-free beer showed up. Redbridge is by far my fav.
I did "the dance of joy" when I ran into it at my closest big chain grocery store!
No more special trips to Whole Foods, Sunflower or Sprouts yay!
Weird little question - I remember in the old pre-celiac days having strange heartburn/indigestion every time after having Henry Weinhard's. (Not many times - I did learn)
Have wondered for quite awhile whether there's something extra-gluteny about it.
Any comments or similar experiences w/ Henry's or some other beer?
(Wish I remembered which Henry's was worse of the main two types - I think the more popular one was worse)
I remember always getting sick on the dark beers. Not so much on bud lite or other lites. With the dark beers I wonder if for me it was the yeasts. I know they seemed to be sweeter. But the yeast would of been a problem for me to because of candida and leaky gut issues.

Hold off as long as you can....PLEASE. Use a religious exemption or a note from the Doctor, (If he is really willing to work well with you on the issue) for daycare. Never give an unhealthy child a vaccine, and never give a healthy child more than one at a time!
I have a 15 yr old son who has been gluten-free/casein free for 7 years. On 1-12-94 He was a normal healthy 18 month old. I took him to the clinic for his vaccinations like I thought all good parents do. They gave him his final Hib, first MMR, his final DTaP & final Polio vaccinations. Before the jabs, they first scolded me that I should have been in a few months earlier. I then held him down and allowed them to inject my baby with 8 diseases, Thimerosal, and a host of other preservatives.
Long story short...five days of explosive diarrhea. I seriously thought he was going to die. He went into a complete brain fog that he never came out of. He literately was poisoned before our eyes. Doctors blamed the reaction to a stomach flu that was going around. I know different. He was diagnosed autistic within the year. The best plan of treatment was healing his leaky gut. He is still autistic...but now high functioning instead of his previous low functioning.
Son #2 is NOT vaccinated. He 8 yrs old and his only illness has been the chicken Pox. (And an occasional cold). He got the Chicken Pox from a (pox)vaccinated child. Every vaccinated child in his class STILL got it. Son #2 is extremely bright, and extremely healthy. Of course he has also been brought up basically gluten-free/cf (until he started school) because I thought it better to start him out young in case I ever did need to change his diet.
Sorry to ramble. I'm very passionate about this subject. I saw it happen before my eyes. I had never heard of autism back then, I just knew that the vaccines changed my baby and no one (doctors) would listen. It wasn't until several years later did I start meeting others who had very similar stories.
Lolabell, I'm so sorry what happened. Its so sad, and this really sickens me. My hope for you is that you get lots of support and hopefully some day they'll get to the bottom of this. Its my belief they have but the politics of food and medicine are shaped by the heavy hand of propaganda in television and media. T.V.news accept large contributions from billion dollar drug companies. There is very little free press in America today. Notice how many commercials for drugs while watching the world news.
Did you know that Eli Lilly for example mysteriously found its way into the Homeland Security Bill in Nov. 2002. Buried within a 450 page document was an outrageous clause that provides security to Eli Lily from thousands of potential lawsuits against them by families of autistic childres who believe that their kids condition is linked to thimerosal a mercury based preservative made by Eli Lilly that used to a common ingredient in vaccines.
How did this mystery clause find its way into the homeland security bill no one knows. Or no one is talking. It took weeks to uncover the provision because it was secretly slipped into the bill sometime over the weekend before it was passed. Eli Lilly contributed $1.6 million in the last election cycle. This type of deal making goes on in Washington every day and affects everyone.
I want to say more but I don't want to cause a stir. I said what I said to maybe provoke thought and please do research on this subject. Be careful of the source. Consider the power of the drug companies using fear tactics. And follow the money trail.

I want to make a bread from a recipe posted here using teff flour. So I looked up to see what teff is and it is very high in iron. I think bob's red mill has it in a flour. I'm hoping anyway I checked in three stores so far and haven't found it but the store I think I'll find it in will probably have it. I'll know tonight. Every little bit helps so maybe boost your G.F. flour mix with teff.

There are times I walk in the door hungry and tired and for those times I have one of Amy's frozen meals that are gluten free. I won't eat the pizza though because it doesn't sit right with me. I just bought the Ian's chicken nuggets but I haven't tried them yet. This will happen about 2 times a month where I used to go to fast food places but I don't anymore.
Otherwise I my simpliest meals to make are chicken breast, or hamburger,or pork chops with rice and vegetable.
Mashed potatoes only takes about 30 min. also.
Tuna melts on G.F. bread.
In the winer I have some frozen soups in my freezer from leftovers.
Red beans and rice with sausage. Real simple. We love hot sauce on top.
Just make rice and heat up a can of red beans. A good sausage isn't hard to find.
Ham and chesse pannini, or ham with scalloped potatoes. Make white sauce with corn starch. It takes an hour to bake however.
Hot dogs and mac. and cheese. There are G.F. brands.
Chile is easy and fast.
Make chicken chile. Use chicken broth, white beans, can of chopped green chiles, breast meat cubed up, onions and celery, cumin.
This is my list of quick meals. Everything else I make takes time.

I have not had my son (almost two) immunized at all and I don't plan to. There are lots of other parents out there like me, too. I've heard too many horror stories and am not convinced that the pharmaceutical companies are acting in our children's best interests. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're not.
ditto my sons are now 23 and 25 and never been sick. They were born in the 80's too where they think alot of the autism cases were link to the vacines.

I've been in the gluten free aisle in the store and I'm always amazed how friendly people are who are looking at the same time. I've been asked several times if I'm gluten free and how long etc., etc. People are so willing to share tips and I've been invited to come to meetings. The other day I was in Barnes and Noble looking at G.F. cook books and another gal comes over right by me and I noticed she pulls a G.F. cookbook down. It didn't take long and we were sharing stories of how long we had to suffer before we got the right diagnosis.
I'm so happy there is the awareness out there now. It's not such a loner disease anymore.

I'm living in Finland, Northern Europe and travelling to Appleton, WI next week for 5 days
Can you help me to find gluten free food, especially (fresh) bread?
Or gluten free tortilla - we don't have those in Finland.
All other tips are welcome too, never been in USA before!
-Sonja
Sonja,
I haven't been there yet but there is Barbara's Pantry 1525 W. Wisconsin Ave. Appleton, WI 54914
She makes Gluten free breads, muffins, quick breads, jelly rolls, cookies, egg noodles, and salads.
I have her pamplet from a meeting I was at and didn't get the chance to go there yet since I'm about an hour away.
I think there's a health food store in the area to that might be worth going to. Good luck and welcome to our area.

I've had bad teeth all my life. They're soft and would get cavities all the time starting at a young age. I've had two or three root canals, and three crowns. I even got a cavity in my front tooth.

Lisa, I would do two things first find a cereal you like that is made gluten free and without c.c. (in dedicated lines.) But I would also take out all the nuts for awhile, maybe 2 weeks. Then reintroduce them eating enough to make sure this also didn't contribute to your troubles. I seem to tolerate a few nuts maybe on a salad but if I eat them as a snack alone I'll have a problem with pain in my lower part of the colon like you. Maybe its a quanity thing or the fact that I'm eating them alone I don't know. I do know it hurt alot, and felt just like a glutening.
Your husband looks like James Taylor back in his hey day.

You might be able to handle kirfir. Like yogurt or cheese it's fermented so much less lactose if thats all you are is lactose intolerent. Some people have a milk allergy and then it doesn't matter.

Where do you buy the cream of mushroom soup? I havnt been able to find it anywhere.
I use Health Valley. I find it in the health food or natural food aisle where all the gluten free foods are in my store.
I won't use progresso because of the MSG reaction I'll get. IF you keep a food diary and have other reactions to food, chemicals or molds you might consider foods containing MSG. It is also disguised under different names if you want to google it.

Also, if celiac is an autoimmune response to food we are taking in, it would seem like a smaller amount of food being taken in would both decrease the chances of the food containing intolerable substances by making meals simpler and more manageable and also by giving your body less food to "act upon" , or trigger a response, if you will, by there being less total food substance in the body. Perhaps eating small, nutritious meals, and taking supplements would decrease the body's level of self-damage.
It only takes a small amount to get a gluten reaction and sometimes worse then when we were having large amouns of it. I've read this study 3 years ago when "0" magazine had an article on it. It makes sense that you would live longer just because your heart isn't working so hard. I could say I follow it just because I was so sick for awhile I lost my appetite for awhile, and lost weight. I got used to eating mostly veggies and protein. I'm eating more now and go through spurts were I eat alot of grains but never for long. I do feel the best when I'm not eating them and so goes the restriction.
My weight is at 115 at 5'7' and I feel the best at that. Any lower and I'll get nocturnal hypogycemia and distrubs my sleep. And your defeating your goal of trying to be healhier, diabeties runs in the family and I want to keep my pancreous or liver from having to work to hard trying to normalize low blood sugars. I think if your constantly cold you should up your calories especially in winter if you live in colder climates. Ideally if you eat foods that are native to your area which I think is a good idea your going to eat more starchy root veggies and breads because your relying on a root cellar and stored grains if you didn't have the convience of trucks hallling veggies from california or Mexico. I think its meant that we gain alittle weight during the winter just because of the cold and flu season.
I seem to be healthier then my siblings except for the gluten intolerance. I'm not on any medications and I just turned 50. But I do have to say I eat this way because if I eat to much my stomach hurts and I feel pain no matter if its gluten free or not. I just have a touchy digestive system.
