  1. Wow, Thanks for sharing! I do not live near Philly but do travel that way occasionally and this is great info to have
  2. I hope you complained about them....very unprofessional. I saw a dietician after I had celiac, she helped me a lot and she had wheat allergies so she was very helpful. It was a dietician in the hospital I work at, and she practices in the same practice my family dr is (my family dr diagnosed me) My family dr did help me out alot with the whole labeling...
  3. The Dr's are not really the people who teach the label-reading and understanding. Usually it is a dietician. As far as I am concerned I would rather go to a dietician who is dealing with food and food issues and learn about the label-reading. They would have more current information than the Dr might have.
  4. Another reason why I ventured upstairs to their 2nd story bathroom...more private the other bathroom they have is a 1/2 bath but sits right off the kitchen where everyone was gathering. I don't like feeling like I have an audience while I piddle!
  5. Then I sat up in the bathroom thinking....did they hear that? LOL! I am usually so behaved when out in public...not this day though.
  6. I was thinking the same thing, those are very severe symptoms, I was bad but the laying on the floor...that is scary....I cannot imagine.
  7. Susie- We did our honeymoon in the Finger Lakes, it was so nice up there. We didn't get to any wineries though since we were short on time. My wine drinking at dinner was more than usual. I was ok sitting, but then I had to go upstairs to go to the bathroom. I was wearing this nice plaid skirt and sweater and my Mary Janes with the clunky heels...I tripped...
  8. I agree with the sporatic symptoms, I would have good months and bad months in the begining. It wasn't until almost 2 and 1/2 years later it became all bad months and things went downhill quickly.
  9. I agree Suave is very good at labeling. Sometimes I use their products. It all depends on what I want when I go to the store.
  10. The other day I was so bored and it was miserble outside that I sat and watched Spice World on TV.....ugh!
  11. I'm wondering if it is CC too, gluten is in play-dough, art supplies, soaps, shampoos....the list goes on...Could it be something like that which is getting overlooked?
  12. Outback is my favorite place to eat. I love the Alice Springs Chicken!!!!
  13. Sounds like things turned out for the better! So really burst in flames? Yikes!
  14. I never had bad bad acne but, when I went gluten free I did not get nearly as many break-outs as I used to. I always had a problem on my forehead and nose area. Those parts have cleared up, now I only have the break-outs when it is my "time".
  15. I have to call my old college at 11. John and I might take a job as resident advisors. Where I went to school, they hire adults who are in the work force to be resident advisors, there dorms are townhouses and apartments on campus. So now that we are married they are also hiring and we might be moving there (just across the river) They don't pay you, you...
  16. My sister told me she was going to return something to Wally-World this morning since it didn't work...I told her she was crazy!
  17. Yep, celiac is not very rare anymore. The amount of people getting diagnosed is increasing. Hopefully more people will find out sooner so they will not have to suffer as long as some of us did.
  18. I'm at work. The hospital is quiet, well on the office side of it anyway. A lot of offices are closed yet. There are only 5 of us in mine today. John has been talking about having a sore throat the last two days.
  19. Morning Sillies Anyone rushing out to the store to after Christmas shop today?
  20. I have to add, I too never had DH and the skin problems which some members experience, occasionally I had the itchy patches...My acne also improved and my face is fairly clear (it was never too bad but still) the only time I get acne now is around my "time".
  21. The Dr's need to stop using IBS as a diagnosis for all GI issues, some people do have IBS....but since celiac can have similar symptoms to a lot of other GI problems, it would be best to look at the patient as an individual. Listen to what the patient says. Most patients know when something isn't right with them, and they never get to speak up or really...
  22. It is very hard to explain things to people who are set in their ways and unwilling to hear it. I would probably not really indulge into discussing it. I would point out the general facts and give them some of the advice from our other posters, especially about how undiagnosed celiac can cause Cancer and other horrible medical conditions. I would stress that...
  23. So we survived Christmas dinner I had a little too much wine though, they had this very sweet PA wine...mmm! Susie you would have enjoyed it.
  24. Good News on your gut feeling better!
