  2. Years ago, the year my dad died, we took a family trip to Hawaii for Christmas (and I highly recommend that!). My totally wacky uncle was there (rest his soul), and one night we were eating a lovely dinner, about 10 of us. My uncle wasn't wearing his glasses, just happily chomping away at his salad, when my mother, quite startled sitting next to him, noticed...
  3. Bev  well now kids IS funny, ain't they? Your niece - oh she sounds adorable. I want to play, too, but have too many heinous errands and such to do on my day off. Harumph!! But wanted to tell Momma Goose, love that wacky monkey which you re-posted, and also that your goslings are just lovely. Have to head out now. Keep playing...
  4. Nikki is correct, the Ferritin is the STORED iron in the body, the reserves. I am seeing a disparity in the "normal" ranges - - from what I have read, and what my GI told me, the normal range is 15 to 250 ( and why such a huge range I have no idea). Mine, at diagnosis last year, was 2. I cannot describe my level of exhaustion. At the six-month mark...
  5. I wrote a very brief note (before the show aired) to Ms. Hasselbeck expressing my gratefulness for her willingness to discuss the disease, with a very polite suggestion that she mention the major and systemic symptoms of Celiac that aren't usually covered....particularly the mental/neurological issues... which nearly ruined my life. I don't think there...

  9. I am a frequent wine-drinker, and have no problems at all. In fact I worked for a winery for four years...I would think that the wheat-paste would not be a factor at all after the first fermentation....
  10. Is Ben Celiac? Or are they just being clever? I love that show....did you hear the latest gossip, that the blonde (Anne Heche) has just left her real-life husband for Jack, and that Jack has left his real-life wife for her??? Quelle scandale!! Perhaps gluten IS clouding their brains, and they ALL need the gluten-free dumplings?

  12. this concept is actually "worrying" her! somehow the wording of this sentence made me howl....plus, use of the word "whilst" - - Nikki probably doens't know that Americans never say WHILST but use the more pedestrian "while" - - whilst is the King's English - - makes me crack up every time (just a silly FYI) oh dear gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd ...
