  1. Sweet child, the world is your oyster! You are a youngster and good to be recognizing that you need to address things now. During my breakdown, some of the medications I was on were making me sicker and sicker. And, more crazy, MORE terrified. It was excruciating. We kept switching....I was on one drug for three or four weeks and finally, when...
  2. Gabrielle - you are not a lost cause, dear one. NO ONE is a lost cause. Have you had any talk therapy? If you can find and afford a good therapist, that could help you enormously. If you can't afford it, there are many places with sliding fee structures. I had a nervous breakdown in 2004....I don't know how else to explain it and no one does. It was...
  3. Swwet child my advice is to PRAY. You are still alive, there is still breath in you, still thoughts in your heart and in your head....things sound incredibly difficult, and they are. But there is always, always hope, just ask me. Can you get any kind of assistance or disability insurance? You sound very sick. Can you talk to the medical administration...
  4. My hair changed DRAMATICALLY in the last year, when I was extremely anemic and had a very advanced case of Celiac and didn't know it. I am almost four months gluten free and my hair just stopped falling out, and I have been taking iron and other supplements for months. Are you quite sure all of your supplements are gluten-free? I also was very underweight...
  5. Jillian and Ash, it is definitely NOT normal. Professionals have dismissed me in the past.....I do take Effexor, which has helped me enormously but was on such a low dose (taking it every three days)....I have talked to my doctor (he is almost completely ineffectual, only useful as a medicine dispensor) and am going to increase the two weeks before my period...
  6. Thanks Julie, good to know! The sugar adds up...a bowl of Gorilla Munch here, half a bag of M&M's, the vanilla creamer in my coffee.....I will watch that the week before. Actually, all the time, am going to cut way down. Since the blessed arrival was yesterday, I am SO much better today....it was a tough one this time, though, a really bad four...
  7. Dvorak in the car, wow, that's very heavy....I tend to play more frivolous music in the car, might that explain my 17 speeding tickets? (all in the past, in my youth!)
  8. Sounds great....can Kinickinick only be ordered online, or am I mistaken?
  9. Wow! Posh spice has it? Did not kow. Also, don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the actress Emmy Rossum. She'll be in the upcoming Poseidon movie...
  10. Fantastic.....I would take all of paragraph two on my road trip (except Neil Diamond - never did really "feel" that one) oh and maybe not BeeGees either....
  11. oh I am so stuck in the 80's and 90's....
  12. Hey girls..... I am doing SO much better, mentally and emotionally on gluten-free diet - it's been a true blessing for me and answer to prayer. BUT....in the four or five days before my period, I am psychotic!! Even today (it should be arriving today or tomorrow), I have had terrible, terrible thoughts....like before. It's very dark and bad and crazy...
  13. Glad you are feeling better, Chelsea!

  15. Um not to be superficial or anything or make light of your illness Chelsea, but DID YOU WATCH Grey's Anatomy?? OMG - - - OMG - - - Denny is gone, Izzy - what will become of her? Can she possibly leave the show?? And - - McDreamy and Meredith....you know, the veterinarian and McDreamy's wife should be together, I think...
  16. Oh that is awful. NOthing looks suspicious to me...I suppose you'd know if you had the flu? Stupid question, I know. I guess a fever would indicate that. Hang in there honey, all I can suggest is immodium. And definitely take tomorrow off....I feel your pain, once had to pour wine at an event w/ 1500 people and had 102 fever.....this too shall...
  17. Madisson - you must be at NPS or DLI? How fantastic...but just to point out, San Jose is only one hour from Monterey - drove there all the time from Monterey. I lived in Monterey for seven years, worked for a wonderful winery and ate out EVERYWHERE. A few restaurants come to mind that should be accommodating....I would stick to the smaller bistros and...
  18. I wasn't Celiac (well I WAS, just didn't know it ) while living in Monterey, but I have a chef friend, Kerry Loutas, who owns a wonderful restaurant in Carmel called Loutas L'escargot (831)620 1942. I spoke to him last week and he said he always, always accomodates people who can't eat gluten. His food is wonderful, fresh French cuisine and most is naturally...
  19. Welcome...and know that the best thing that's happened is you've found this board. I find I don't even need a physical support group when I get so much support and information here. Search these threads and you will find all kinds of things you can eat from your local grocery store - concentrate on sticking to foods that are natrually gluten-free - - lean...
  20. I am still going to try it....I know I will hate it....
  21. If you like curry, here is the lazy girl's solution to some good chicken: Get Patek's Vindaloo Curry Paste - Indian groceries. Put a dollup of it on some chicken breast tenders in a bowl - you can thin the paste with a little chicken broth if you like. MICROWAVE - seriously - for about two minutes, then stir, then another two minutes or so. Serve...
  22. defnitely ewwwww - - I was thinking the same thing, same two flavors and I didn't even know they had buttered toast flavor, will try this ersatz candy/bread/butter hybrid and see how gross it is - am fascinated with concept
  23. Blistex and Carmex tear up my lips....I use Bag Balm - it was originally made for cows' udders - seriously - but is sold in the drug store for humans as a soothing balm. They have a smaller container that I carry in my purse. Love it!
  24. Welcome, Manja - Trader Joe's saved my life. And it is two miles from my house Yes, the products on the gluten-free list should be safe. Others in the store will state if they're made on shared equipment. I have tried those and been okay...but you never know. It is best to be pretty strict and stay on the safe side. Do you eat meat? ...
