Poop advice!
Wheatwacked replied to Mombles's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
CHOLINE - THE MOST IMPORTANT NUTRIENT OF THE BODY Lack of enough bile will give your symptoms. Could be caused by a long-term low-fat diet. Could be not enough choline in your diet. Bile is needed to absorb fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K so in addition to a choline deficiency you might be deficient in them.. Another indicator might be high homocysteine... -
Getting diagnosis
Wheatwacked replied to Sirenna's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here's the cool thing. If you stay gluten free, replenish the vitamins and minerals that you are deficient in, and decrease the omega 6 in your diet, your fibromyalgia will magically be gone, and you won't need to convince the doctor of anything. Of course, you still need to monitor the damage already done while you heal. Let the doctor get sicker on his... -
Poached eggs don't give me an upset tummy
Wheatwacked replied to trents's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think when you poach the max temp is <212 F. Hard boiling creates high temp steam inside the shell and frying or scrambling can get temps high enough to mess with the flavor? I wondered but never looked. Could some people be dealing with cross contamination through their eggs? -
Add 100 grams of Red Leaf lettuce and about a cup of beans to your diet. (mix of small red, chickpeas, and pinto has interesting textures and flavors) Soak the beans overnight to remove the lectins then rinse. Simmer for an hour then rinse. Add your flavors. It will increase folate and beneficial fiber. Eat eggs for choline. Increase your intake of thiamine...

Poached eggs don't give me an upset tummy
Wheatwacked replied to trents's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've had the same thing with eggs. I boil water and crack the eggs in. It took me 40 years to learn to cook a potato in the microwave that did not turn into a rock and in my mind's eye I can see me cleaning exploded egg. Currently doing 3 jumbo (198 g) scrambled in Irish butter, for the choline. -
Thyroid problems, effects of celiac, or something else?
Wheatwacked replied to Lou24's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Welcome to the forum. To me it sounds like multiple vitamin deficiencies. Doctors are taught to treat diseases but not to recognize simple nutrition deficiencies. Thyroid problems could be a lack of enough iodine. The American diet has half as much iodine as in 1970. Prescriptions of Thorazine has increased and there was a 242% increase in breast cancer... -
I’m Done and Feel Like Giving up

Not unlike doctors treating an alcoholic. It's lack of "self-control and all in your head". Funny how an abnormal number of alcoholics get seriously sick by the time they get their second Alcoholics Anonymous anniversary token. Good luck with you appointments. -

I love this line: "People who have limited food variety—including some elderly, indigent individuals who prepare their own food; people who abuse alcohol or drugs; food faddists; people with mental illness; and, occasionally, children—might not obtain sufficient vitamin C" https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminC-HealthProfessional/ Vitamin ade... -

Can't argue with that. Many commonly used drugs can inhibit the production of diamine oxidase (DAO). Many others can liberate stored endogenous histamine. It can also be an inherited trait. Oddly, Benadryl may be one of those that does both. Drugs that inhibit DAO and or release endogenous stored histamine The DAO enzyme is dependent on vitamin... -
Yes. Just like rinsing the dishes before putting in the dishwasher. It softens the plaque and kills the germs, then the brush polishes it away. Still have all my teeth at 71, except for one molar that broke when an old filling failed and I procrastinated. It was pulled and that extra space allowed lower teeth to shift. My bite improved and solved my TMJ,...

Terrible Neurological Symptoms
Wheatwacked replied to HectorConvector's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When you increased milk intake you also increased your intake of omega 6 fatty acids. Omega 6 increases inflammation and clotting. That's its job. Have you tried 100% Grass fed dairy or meat? The supplements used to increase milk in dairy and to fatten beef raises omega 6 content. Fortunately that is not the case with plant based foods. The issue is not that... -

Beans would be about equal to cheese for calories. Nutrition for Kidney Beans "Well, omega-6 and omega-3, stars of the polyunsaturated fatty acids, play countering roles, with omega 6 helping to provide inflammation and blood-clotting, such as in the treatment of wounds, while omega-3 reduces inflammation and is an anti-coagulant" Plant-Based... -

"A healthy diet should consist of roughly one to four times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids.[1] On average, the omega-6:3 ratio for grass-fed cattle is 2:1, while the ratio for grain-fed cattle is 9:1." Carcass Characteristics, Meat Quality and Fatty Acid Composition of 100% Grass-Fed Beef -
Terrible Neurological Symptoms
Wheatwacked replied to HectorConvector's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It is not as much what we eat as what we don't eat. Most Americans do not eat enough vitamin D, iodine, choline, potassium and eat too much salt. We have high homocysteine and low B12 because we don't get enough choline, so we use folate and B12 to pick up the slack. Then to complicate matters wheat products are fortified, and gluten free processed food is... -

Bloating and abdominal pain even when not eating gluten
Wheatwacked replied to Stevo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Lack of choline can cause bloating. If you are not eating eggs or red meat you are surely deficient. It is needed to process fats in the liver. Also works with folate to lower homycysteine and lower risk of cardiovascular inflammation and also is linked to fetal neural tube defects like spinabifida. 90% of the mitochondria membrane is phosphatidyl choline... -
This may sound weird but try eating four oranges (about 12 ounces peeled). It just made my eyes teary in a good way.

This is an older thread. To answer your question, around 48% have some of these genes and only 1% of the total population are diagnosed with active Celiac Disease. Many people have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have none of these genes.

Welcome to the forum Maureen. The answer to your first question, "has anyone else?" is easy. Yes. You are not alone. Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption. The villi are damaged by an autoimmune response to gluten so vitamin deficiencies is the norm, depending on how long. And that vitamin deficiency caused by Celiac Disease has led to your diagnosis...

Is it the casein or is it the palmitic fatty acid (C16:0) used in commercial dairies to increase milk fat and volume which increases the omega 6 content of milk? Taking any meds or supplements? Hot shower helps the longest. It got really bad on BP med Amlodipine. I still have the problem and it may be the copious amount of coffee I drink (in denial about that). I rarely take out my contacts and noticed that once I started GFD there was no more protein buildup. Vision Clarity Eye Drops works well for me...
