  1. Growing up in the 60's a glass of milk and two slices of bread had about 300 mcg of iodine, but in the US iodine is rarely used today as a dough conditioner and with the increase of omega 6 in milk caused by feed additives to increase milk fat and volume in non-pasture fed cows, more people have negative reactions to milk and so avoid it. Dietary intake of...
  2. For some vitamins, like Thiamine, the only way to tell if thiamin deficiency if causing your symptoms is Hear! Hear! I discussed with my doctor the fact that I've been on 10,000 IU vitamin D3 daily since 2015. Sept 2019 my D plasma was 44 ng/ml, last September (2021) it was 87 and last Friday it dropped to 80 ng/ml. She is fine with me continuing...
  3. While Covid is terrible, it is not the cause of Celiac Disease. Wheat, Rye and Barley gluten is. Any number of triggers can bring it to the forefront. You got the shots, so you are protected from a lethal case of Covid. Personally, I would rather not eat wheat than be dead of Covid. If not the Covid shot, something else would have triggered it eventually...
  4. Canyon House Heritage Style Honey White is my favorite for a sandwich. Keep it in the freezer and defrost only the slices you need. About 15 minutes to defrost a slice on the counter or nuke it for 30 seconds if your Lithium is low and you are impatient. Toasted the texture reminds me of rye bread.
  5. Choline is associated with both anxiety and right quadrant gut pain, which you indicate you have. It takes 4 dozen eggs a day to reach the upper safe limit. The only way to know if you are getting enough choline is by tracking choline intake. You might want to see a doctor about gall bladder disease. Since the Lexipro is helping you, give it more time. In...
  6. Could be that as you heal you will notice things that were masked by the other symptoms. Watch this video, he explains choline deficiency as a cause at around the 7 minute mark https://www.beyondmthfr.com/estrogen-choline-and-the-gallbladder/. Minimum RDA (100% DV) for adult women is 400 mg a day (3 1/2 large eggs). The RDA upper limit is 350...
  7. In 1970 when the Biafra Relief Agency switched from buying rice to the modern wheat because of price, the babies started showing symptoms of Celiac Disease. In my opinion, at the time Norman Borlaug was honored with the Nobel Prize so the symptoms were blamed on protein deficiency (Kwashiorkor) instead of Celiac Disease (caused by wheat).
  8. Dr Daniel Amen, psychiatrist, has written extensively about diet and mental health issues. His meal plans are all gluten free.
  9. Supplements: B12;B complex;B5 1000 mg;Phosphotidyl Choline 840 mg;Lithium 5 mg;Dhea 100 mg;vitamin C 1000 mg;Calcium 1000 mg;vitamin D3 250 mcg (10,000 IU); 7.5mg Nori (for iodine); 20 ml Cod Liver Oil (vitamin A and omega 3); 2 ounces of almonds (for vitamin E); 10 mg fresh parsley (vitamin K). Goal of 4700mg potassium a day from food. I chose them after...
  10. My choice is Alka Selzer (aspirin, sodium hydrogen carbonate and citric acid) for any pain or upset stomach issues I have. For serious pain that doesn't go away, prednisone or prednisolone. I had a black lab with congenital hip dysplasia. He was on 5 mg prednisone all his life, when he was x-rayed at 9 years old he had no arthritis, while all my other dogs...
  11. Call it Devil's Advocate but why do you need medical confirmation of what you already know: you cannot eat wheat, barley or rye because it makes you sick. Consider taking vitamins to supply 100% of essential vitamins because you need more to heal. Look at your potassium, choline, and folate intakes, most Americans do not eat enough.
  12. Wheatbelly: Total Health, by Dr Davis would be a good read for you. The effects of wheat in the general population. Dr Hyman is the head of the Cleveland Clinic's Funtional medicine and has several books. For the psycology effects, Dr Daniel Amen. They all recommend GFD though they arrived there through different paths.
  13. http://nutrientlog.doodlesnotes.net/ A log of what I ate with nutrient totals. My current daily supplement list: B12, B Complex. 1000 mg B5, 840 mg Phosphotidyl Choline, 15 ml Cod Liver Oil (for vitamin A), 5 mg Lithium Orotate, 1000 mg vitamin C, 1000 mg Calcium, 10,000 IU (250 mcg) vitamin D, 2 ounces almonds (for vitamin E), 2 sheets of organic...
  14. The outlier here is actually the one good test in June. Lab error is possible. How are your other labs, BP, homocysteine, lipids. Could your meds need adjusting? vitamin D plasma level and vitamin D intake? t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Optimal Result: 0 - 3 U/mL, or 0.00 - 100.00 ug/g. https://healthmatters.io/understand-blood-test-results/t-transglutaminase...
  15. The minimum RDA for Choline is 550. That is the equivalent of 4 1/2 large eggs or 9 cups of cooked chopped broccoli. The safe upper RDA is 3500 mg, but the negative side effects of too much choline; fishy body odor, low blood pressure; are usually not seen until 7,000 mg (24 ounces of lean beef a day)
  16. It is no one's business why I choose gluten free. I appreciate anyone who eats gluten free, with or without a medical license. The more people ask for gluten free, the more familiar the staff becomes with the concept and the more likely it is to actually be gluten free and not just a catchphrase taught at the 15 minute pre shift meeting. You don't have to...
  17. You are four months into a change you should follow forever. There will be plateaus and roadblocks. Pay attention to your vitamin and mineral intake, the blood tests for many only show current plasma status, not cellular reserves. Most Americans eat less than the recommended amounts of Potassium and Choline. It helps to write down what you eat. I have two...
  18. Was it helpful and what do you consider a megadose? It's been a week since increasing my iodine intake to 3 sheets a day of nori. Today I got 8 hours sleep staight through. My usual is 2 1/2 hour batches. Vitamin D has an antidepressant effect in common with Duloxetine. Lactic acid build up could fit with some toxin caused by eating quantity. It...
  19. So you know something is wrong and Duloxetine partially helps to attenuate. Progress.😃
  20. Poor food choices over time use up our bile salts and lead to all kinds of digestive problems from acid reflux, gas, and bloating to constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and diverticulitis. Chloine is very effective in restoring GI tract health and improving digestion...Choline is considered a bile salt and it plays a pivotal role in the digestion of fats...
  21. Operation a success. Unfortunately the patient died. That is actually good news as far as GFD. Is the Duluxitine helping? Any success with the eliminations? Keep working the essentials you are low on. Iodine is not in the SR28 database. RDA is 125 to 1100 mcg. Last week I increased my daily intake to 3 sheets of nori a day and there has been improvement...
  22. I had the same. It eventually went away. I can't say which specific vitamin did it but was on GFD and after I raised potassium and folate and fiber intake (beans and rolled oats) and choline (supplement or three eggs a day) and B5 supplement. Guessing the red blood is irritation in the colon and the slimy thing is mucous to counteract the irritation. Hasn...
  23. And there is the addiction in action. not eating enought gluten caused a withdrawal symptom of anorexia, return to gluten the cravings return. It was either Dr Fuhman or Dr Davis that referred to this hunger as Toxic Hunger.
  24. keep up with the vitamin D. At higher blood plasma levels around 70 ng/ml it helps with depression, and attenuates the autoimmune responses. I have been taking 10,000 IU a day for over 6 years and finally got to 87 ng/ml in September. It is safe. Three article worth reading about vitamin D. https://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/article/S0025-6196(15...
  25. It is addictive. https://www.goodforyouglutenfree.com/how-i-overcame-my-gluten-addiction/ After a month on a gluten free diet GFD you will wonder when the pain went away. If you go back to gluten the pain will come back. Because of the damage done to your small intestine you get malabsorbtion syndrome, where even if you eat adequate vitamins and minerals...
