  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DONNA!!!
  2. The idea of more blood work doesn't bother me, at least for the most part. I don't view that as particularly invasive, especially compared to a biopsy. My kids have never freaked out about needles. I used to have them practice pinching themselves and count to 10 so they could gauge how much they could handle. They actually thought it was funny. It is...
  3. Just curious (not challenging you)--what sort of permanent damage?
  4. What made your doctors and your friend's doctors say that you are no longer immune? Did they do a blood titer? If not, then I would suspect they are simply parroting what the pharmaceutical industry told them...the pharm industry is the only one profiting when 95% of the population get re-vaccinated for a disease to which they are already producing antibodies...
  5. Unfortunately, many doctors DO vaccinate when the child is sick, as long as they don't have a fever. And, of course, celiac disease does not cause a fever! I'm starting to suspect that most pediatricians only know what they were taught in medical school as far as vaccines go. Our pediatrician, whom I like and respect, told me that, to his knowledge,...
  6. Very tough question, with good thoughts above. If you do decide to get "caught up," I would UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES let them give her more than one vaccine at a time. There are NO long-term studies indicating that multiple vaccines are safe even in perfectly healthy people. I would choose which vaccine to give her based on the severity of the disease...
  7. Me, too! I couldn't wear ANYTHING for more than 4 to 5 minutes--until I went off gluten. Now I can wear 14 karat gold for a couple of hours before it starts to itch. I can't wear a watch any more, either, but with cell phones, who needs a watch? I can wear my wedding ring, and that's it. (Yay--I caught up!)
  8. I just wanted to say, don't push it on the weighted exercise. My experience was that every time I tried to do weighted exercise, I lost range of motion, especially if I wasn't having a physical therapist stretch the shoulder three times a week. I am just now, a full year after surgery starting weighted exercise--with 1-pound weights and only one close...
  9. Welcome back, Charlene! I can't put it any better than Rinne just did! At any rate, you do NOT have to authenticate your disease here, and the nicest thing I can think of to say about anyone who says so is that they must be having a lousy day. I don't care who inspired you to find out about gluten, I'm just glad that you did! What's important to...
  10. Susan, you are NOT whining, and I hope and pray that it's all fixable, and SOON.
  11. I'm not sure when they crossed paths, but his specialty is NMR spectroscopy, and I think they were both members of SACP. When we first found out about thimerosal being in vaccines, he was absolutely livid, and kept talking about her. attornery? That's perfect!!!
  12. Way to go, Rachel!! Of course you are right. My husband is a PhD chemist, and says that ANY chemist knows the toxicity of mercury. That's why mercury thermometers have been replaced with digital ones. There are documented cases of people DYING from exposure to mercury (even a chemist he knew, who wore double gloves--the mercury burned right through...
  13. Would he still think you are crazy if you: 1) show him all the links on the internet relating gluten to bi-polarity (is that the right way to say it?) 2) show him the studies linking caffeine to bi-polarity 3) explain how the pharmaceutical companies don't want him to know about these food links because they would prefer that he buy expensive meds that...
  14. I do remember reading something about gluten-induced epilepsy...try googling it and see what pops up.
  15. How do you guys keep UP??? (pant pant) Did you ever have an MRI? Because everything you describe sounds exactly like my shoulder, and I have a torn supraspinatus tendon, which was only diagnosed after an MRI. Things like upper body workouts are TOTALLY out for me for at least the next year, until this heals (I'm not anxious to go through surgery...
  16. Wow, that's a tough one. At least your GI has actually heard of celiac! What does he say about your continued symptoms? And what exactly has improved since going gluten-free? If I were in your shoes, I would talk first to the GI, as he has your history and saw you before you went gluten-free, which presumably means he has some basis for comparison...

    ARCHIVED Need Advice

Looks like good advice from Elizabeth. I'm also wondering if perhaps you are also sensitive to dairy products? Some celiacs react to casein, some to lactose; others only need to eliminate dairy until their gut heals from the gluten damage (which takes a few months). If you check out Ursa Major on this board, she went through quite a hunt to figure...
  18. Ooh, that looks so good...I think I just might spread some chocolate ganache on it before I add the whipped cream....
  19. When I checked with the local Health Dept, it was possible to get the three separate shots--but they each contained mercury. Can't win....
  20. Thank you so much for posting this. I think the reaction of Wakefield's "colleagues" is criminal. He's never even said to avoid vaccines; he just said not to give multiple live vaccines together! I did go to the NVIC website, and couldn't find any reference to what you posted above. Was I looking in the wrong place, or is it only available in the newsletter...
  21. Yum, that looks good! I've never used amaranth or teff, so it will be interesting to see what texture it comes out with. THanks for posting the link!
  22. Thanks for posting the recipe! I've never heard of custard powder--what is it, and where do you find it? Is it called something else here in the States?
  23. That would be me! Okay, this may have nothing to do with the cause of your pain, but just in case-- make sure you are not lifting your shoulders when you are doing things like putting dishes away in cabinets, playing the flute, reaching for things, etc. You want your arm to be able to swing from the shoulder, but the shoulders themselves should...
  24. I've made this bread many times in the oven, and it came out fantastic each time--I had to fight my gluten-eating kids for it! Now that it's summer, I finally bought a bread machine so that I can have bread without heating up the house, but I couldn't find one with a gluten-free cycle at Bed, Bath, and Beyond (I had a 20% off coupon that I wanted to use...
  25. Can you take Tylenol? For many people, it is just as effective as the "Big Guns" painkillers. Honestly, for me it is way more effective than Percoset--and with no side effects. I rather suspect that the addictive "Big Guns" painkillers exist not because they are any better than the over-the-counter products but because they mean more $ for the pharmaceutical...
