  1. Yeah those toilets are now free after paying for themselves and standards have declnied accordingly. A friend was visiting me a few weeks ago from Boston and kept asking me about "symptoms", over dinner of all things! His wife (a surgeon) gave him a telling off and a couple of days later he had food poisioning or a stomach bug and needed a loo urgently...
  2. The Codex is NOT European? Why do people keep referring to it as European ? Both America and Canada are chairpersons for the codex comittee. Open Original Shared Link However the commitees are dominated by the food industry and the food industry also dominates the FDA. Just one example for GM products. " * Josh King, former director of...
  3. Being a celebrity is a job, heck half of the 'celebreties' seem to just be celebreties because they are celebrities.. They have publicists and their publicists tell them not to admit to anything that someone can bring up in an interview. How many times have people questioned you about "what happens if....." and refuse to shut up. The worst is at a...
  4. It also attaches to the endorphin receptors which can be damaged by gluten ... hence it has a second use as well.
  5. floridanative: Is this in the UK? just asking because the dental service is terrible and the way dentists get paid is by creating work. When I was about 10 my dentist retired and someone took over the practice. I went from no cavities to him finding a new one each time, I stopped going when I was 11-12 but my mother continued and eventually ended...
  6. Yep they are also incredibly dangerous since the knife tends to bounce off them ... IKEA does a beech block for about $30 which is cheaper than a real kitchen knife, Id never consider using one of my kitchen knives on a glass block.
  7. rest edited to comply with board rules ... I am honestly not surprised at this for resto's in general in Paris. That is the whole reason for the site. To be honest I have little success myself eating out randomly and the touristy resto's are the worst, they will say anything to get your custom.
  8. ... and the big one is be extra careful of lite-dressings. Personally I just take the advice of flagbabyds and make sure its wine vinegar, if not them lemon/lime juice and olive oil.
  9. Thx ... but Im the one on the left ..? Rest of post removed as it contained photo's on my website and contravenes board rules.
  10. They are saying that on a lot by lot basis they use finings on the wine, your main problem is the type you like. The process is used as a short-cut and if you like young fruity wines then its the easiest way for them to clear the wine quickly without proper aging and a subsequent mallo-lactic fermentation. The process is exactly like making a clear...
  11. Unfortunately not its just the French yellow pages with the English option turned on so people can find places etc. I have thousands of photo's but very few of myself ... the best I can find is edited to comply with board rules (link to photo on my website removed as per rule #2) If anyone wants to make a website for their town they are more...
  12. Well bleach won't make any difference one way or the other but I guess once you get rid of the bleach you will have a pretty clean pan since cast iron is quite porous. Real cast iron skillets are kinda expensive so I think I would be tempted to take a wire brush (the type you attach to a houshold drill) and really hack into it then clean it down with...

    ARCHIVED Glutenease

I love the disclaimer at the bottom
  14. Feel free to take whatever you want from edit to comply with board rules My idea is I will offer resto's free advertising if they comply and also to make them aware we are the loyal customers any resto wants, we bring our friends and keep going back! If anyone has comments or improvements on this please let me know too. We are...
  15. This is just my personal theory but: I think our bodies store up gluten in cellulite etc and expel it through those annoying spots/pimples some of us get. I have a friend who gets seizures with gluten and therefore its a bit more serious than my D and brainfog and we thought about it and I think when we fast and the body starts literally eating itself...
  16. Forgot to mention.. one quick and cheap but not overly reliable method to check pans is to put in some oil and fry some very strong colored food dye, tumeric is a good cheap choice. Take the pan, wash it and stick a bit of oil in and dip in a piece of tiolet roll or blotting paper.. if you can still see the dye then the food dye is adsorbed and so could...
  17. The simple answer is that there is a international definition by the FAO/WHO in the codex alimentarius. Open Original Shared Link However one must remember that the FAO is an industry sponsored body and also that the document is pretty meaningless. Additionally according to the charter: Hence the definition does not include a corn...
  18. I'd say nikki-uk has given good general advice, certainly toasters are trash but things like pans can be cleaned with time and effort. However most people who go gluten-free usually start off trying very hard but still making mistakes, it really does take some time. Most of the people who post "3 weeks but no results" etc. usually fall into this category...
  19. oops sorry, i meant to be specific about cow casein since many people seem to have the issue with cow milk and not goat or sheep. Summer is here and you have a selection from feta through goats cheeses in salads not to mention the buffalo mozerella ... and many sheep cheeses too ...
  20. There are 2 seperate issues with oats.... firstly strictly they are gluten free but the protein in oats does affect some celiacs like gluten. Secondly oats are almost always grown in a rotation with wheat so some of the wheat that falls to the ground comes up the next year in the oats crop. Much as I'd love to be able to eat oats ... things like cookies...
  21. I absolutely agree ...moreoever if you are to have a biopsy you have to eat gluten while you wait ... To me the usefulness of a biopsy is pretty limited diagnosis wise, even if its negative and you have a full celiac suite of +ve bloodtests you are not going to just keep eating gluten until you do get a positive biopsy! However if the Dr. has a valid...
  22. Hmm we have quite a few over on this side of the pond that are not, both from testing on me, testing with the tepnel kits and even would you beleive labelling...its the same with frozen fries... my local frozen goods store has about 10 minds and only 1 is gluten-free! Yes, we don't have Mission here but I can clearly mark off companies that...
  23. I would think that if your doing this to try and build up a tolerance to similar proteins using sheeps and goats cheeses... and then add a little casein ... just my 2c
  24. Is the tex Mex place still their on the corner of Wolf and something? I went before I wass diagnosed but wioth a friend who had particualr requirements and I remember them beoing really good.
  25. Well said, however sometimes easier said than done. Sympathies with taz however because it really can be hard and most of all tiring keep doing this. That sounds ideal....
