  1. I'd go back to Helsinki, Finland. I'd love to have another gluten free cheeseburger.... (see my avatar)
  2. Yep, my family drinks the Lifeway brand Kefir. They have all sorts of great flavors. So far I have yet to find one with any gluten in it, but there may be one. We really like the Pomegranate flavored Kefir from Lifeway.
  3. All Tex Joy brand spices are gluten free. They sell in Southeast Texas/Southwest Louisiana in the grocery stores, but also have them where you can buy them online at their website www.texjoy.com. They are located in my hometown, and were super nice in their reply to my query as to their gluten free status. They even posted on their website that they are all...
  4. Just squeeze the sides, and slide it in as you would a tampon. It gets easier after a couple times. I was scared it would slip out, but I've only had that happen once. My hubby swears he can't feel it while we are having sex, and I forget about it being in most of the time. Email me or PM me if you have any questions. I have been using it for almost 2 years...
  5. Yeah, I have to say my GP was great when I approached him about it maybe being celiac (we all suspected giardia for months). He was honest and said he was not that up to date on celiac and referred me to a GI doc. The GI doc was great as well. Both were okay with me doing research and wanted to know what kind of things I found out and said they actually learned...
  6. I am 5'7". I was always the tallest kid in my class until 7th grade when the boys started surpassing me in height. My mom is 5'4" and dad is 6'1", so I am in the middle.\ My brother, whom I strongly suspect celiac disease in, but hasn't been tested (and grumbles at having to change his diet somewhat), is only 5'6" (claims 5'8" or 5'9" on his driver's license...
  7. I am of German, Irish, Cajun (exiled from Nova Scotia), Native American (Alabama-Coushatta tribe) ancestry, with some really distant English and French ancestors many, many generations back.
  8. Here's the reply from Texjoy Seasonings: Thanks for your inquiry about Texjoy Products. We do not use wheat, oats, barley or rye in any of our products. Those items are usually for filler or extenders in seasoning blends. We do not use any filler . We have added to our website a gluten free notation. Thanks for using our products and thank you for your...
  9. A major sign of diabetes is unquenchable thirst.
  10. I used the "contact us" for a show idea function last night and gave my story and idea. Who knows if it'll work, but I am a teacher, and tend to not make too many grammatical errors and mispellings, so maybe that will help. Maybe if I sent in a video tape with my plea. I am good on camera (Miss Texas USA pageant contestant in 1996) and a really good public...
  11. I agree with TiredofDoctors.... That's what they taught us in nursing school. It's less harsh than meds. I had to do that after I didn't go for 3 weeks after my auto accident. My impaction was due to the large amounts of Vicodin and Fentanyl I was on. Digital impaction was best for me, because often when I take a laxative and stool softener it works too well...
  12. Thanks Tarnal, I don't think I've seen the teal one at my Kroger, but I'll look this next shopping trip. I try not to eat too much sugar, so I'll have to try the unsweetened plain. I thought the red box was unsweetened, oops! My husband has even said he doesn't mind the soy milk for cereal, and he can drink milk with no problems... I've found since I am gluten...
  13. Natalie's Chicken Curry 2 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-2” cubes 4 cups potatoes, cut into 1-2” cubes 2 cups of onions, diced 2 tbsp Olive oil 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds ½ tsp of ground coriander ¼ tsp of curry powder 1 can of Coconut Milk (in Asian section of supermarket) 1 can of Rotel Tomatoes (I prefer the o...
  14. Thank goodness it is! I still love a bowl of cereal. I like the plain unsweetened Silk Soy milk in the red box. I tried other brands and they just didn't cut it.
  15. I've been telling my grandmother she should be tested for celiac disease for months now. I kept telling her to tell her doctor. She never would. She was admitted to the hospital for back and leg pain of no obvious origin last week, so I told her nurse I had been diagnosed back in May and that they should run a celiac panel on her. She wrote down all the...
  16. I just wanted to point out that I was at a wedding reception that had a buffet about 8 years ago, before I was gluten free, and there was a problem with the wedding party that delayed their arrival to the reception by 2 hours. I have no idea how long the food had been setting out before then, but I ate a deviled egg, some cheese, fruit and vegetables. I woke...
  17. YAY Shauna! She is my hero now!

  19. Age 29, diagnosed 3 months ago, been gluten free for 4 months.
  20. My husband thought I'd never stick to the gluten-free diet, and essentially thought I wouldn't see any improvement in my symptoms once being gluten free. After 2 months gluten free, with no symptoms, and me really sticking to it (no cheating), he realized I was right. He has progressively gotten better about it. He asks me what things are likely (or known...
  21. I was diagnosed at 29, a few months ago. I had been sick with diarhhea several times a week for over 8 months. I thought I had giardia from my DD (adopted from Russia a little before the chronic D). I was tested for giardia, took meds, and it persisted, so I knew something was up. I started to watch what I ate and note when I got diarhhea and noticed...
  22. Welcome to our club... The cravings get better. I think it took 2 months before I stopped craving things. I came real close to giving in when my hubby bought Dunkin Donuts for breakfast one day this weekend. I loved the cinnamon munchkins... I do miss them. Corn spaghetti is better than the rice spaghetti.... I haven't tried Tinkyada yet, but I hear...
  23. I really don't find following the gluten free diet more costly, just less convenient. We can't go buy ready to eat bread and pasta as cheap as we used to, and we are limited in our fast food choices. A doctor saying he discourages them from going gluten free dur to costs or ostracizing a kid is being irresponsible. NEWSFLASH for the Drs.: It's not that hard...
  24. According to an email I received from the manufacturers of Moonsand, "Yes it is gluten free. You can also spray it with a mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide to clean it whenever you want." It appears to work a lot like Playdough, but never dries out. I will be buying some for my daughter. I won't let her play with Playdough in our house, so she can...
  25. Send them to me. They're my favorite.... The 3 eggplant plants I have growing are 2-3 feet tall, full of blooms, but no fruit yet at all. Weird.... Actually, I usually slice them thinly (discs), lay them on wax paper, salt them, sit for 5-10 minutes, then dredge in cornmeal, then fry in an oil. Yummy! Also, the cruise I just returned from had...
