  1. I went with my 18 year old son to get a tatoo! Pretty funny! I had a rose with its stem that was "C" shaped. It did hurt. My son brought his girlfriend with us thinking that I would cry because of the pain and they would get to watch me squirm. Not one bit of squirming came from me! What did you get?
  2. I have friends, family and co-workers who think that I am a whimp. I have had "mysterious" symptoms for years. Lots of pain, lots of sick days. My friends laugh and say "oh, do you have another ailment?". Makes me mad as H---. My boss has muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair and is tough as nails. She does struggle every day, but it doesn't mean...
  3. congrats on your tatoo! I got my tatoo a few weeks ago. Did it hurt?
  4. Hilarious! I have had the same problem for years. I work in one room with six people with only dividers between us. To top it off, we have a chemical sensitvity policy here. We cannot wear perfumes, have candles or air fresheners. So I have to get to the bathroom and squeak one out. The funny part is, I have a fart machine in my desk and occasionally...
  5. I'm with you, Carol. I have been gluten free since mid february. I still feel crappy. I hope things go better for you. Take care. tara
  6. I've had my thyroid checked out several times and the results were normal.
  7. It would be great to get additional information. Thanks.
  8. Nothing worse than getting glutened. I had this happen a few weeks ago. My first since I went gluten-free in february 2006. I was sick for a couple of weeks and finally needed to call the doc for help. I was miserable. I was advised by the doc and others on this site to eat veggies, fruit and fresh meat. I have done exactly that. I feel better. hope...
  9. Welcome kessea! I am new also and I have found alot of valuable info on this site. The support has been awesome! Tara
  10. I have never heard of such a thing. But, it makes sense. It has taken several days for the swelling in my mouth to go down. Did you ask your doctor to test for this?
  11. I'm glad things are a bit better for you. I also have adhesions and they are currently messing with my bowels. very painful. No surgery for me either, yet... IC is bad at times especially with apples and oj. take care. Tara
  12. I take 40 mg of paxil and 20 mg of elavil. The paxil helps with depression. The elavil helps me with pain at night. The side effects of both elavil and paxil are minor for me, but the most annoying one is the craving for sweets. I have a sweet tooth the size of the Empire state building and at this time can only have chocolate. Believe me, I eat alot...
  13. Michelle, I read your post and found that you have IC also and adhesions. How are those two issues going for you? Tara
  14. This thread is a great idea. Thanks. My story is also similar to alot of posts that I have read. I believe that I have had celiac disease most of my life. It makes me angry that it has taken me until age 45 to get to the bottom of all of the pain and misery that I have been through. Not just physical pain, but emotional pain too. I remember when I was...
  15. Hee hee
  16. Well, I didn't even consider that the ink would be gluten free or not. But I did get one 2 weeks ago. I'm 45 and my 18 year old son asked if we could get one together. Awesome bonding for us. It hurt a bit, but well worth it. Go for it!
  17. Thanks for letting me whine. Almost ready to call an Whambulance! At least thats what I tell the girls in the office when I ready to complain and cry. I do feel a bit better today. Have you had problems with strawberries and corn? I had some gluten-free corn cereal yesterday. I shouldnt have because I was feelilng so crappy. I didn't have and umpf...
  18. I have had heart issues for awhile, but usually with stress. After I went gluten-free, I had an episode where I had "heart skips" every 2-3 minutes. I had it checked, but turned out to be an extra heart beat, but also could be from aspartame from drinking diet pepsi. So, I have stopped almost all aspartame and have had few issues since.
  19. Thanks for responding. I have found these last few days that I am probably sensitive to other foods. Oranges, apples, maybe, sauces. This has been so difficult and I feel like a whiner with family and friends. It's so hard to watch others eat what they want. The executive director of the company I work for offered us all Labatts beer yesterday. I nearly...
  20. I have had problems swallowing for the last few years. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in february 2006. Not sure if it is related, but I do have alot of problems mostly with meat and bread. I have heard liquids/saliva squeak in my throat sometimes. When I accidently was glutened a few days ago, the problem increased. Anyone else experience this...
  21. Thanks again for your advice. Today is a bit better than the last few days. I have eaten nothing but meat, veggies and fruit. Hopefully, I can begin other foods in a few months. It certainly is not worth trying anything else at this point. I don't want to feel that sick again! Keeping a food diary is a great idea. Hadn't thought of it. Before...
  22. Thanks for your response. I purchased the Celiac Sprue Association handbook on foods that I can eat. But I am wondering now if all is accurate. When you started out did you start out slow with basic menu items or did you try lots of different things? I have tried all kinds of things, but maybe I need to start out with basics first? I made "gluten free...
  23. I live in Midland, Mi. Yep, it's cold today!
  24. I am a new celiac. This has been a very difficult thing for me. The last two days have been aweful. I am not sure what I am reacting to. Can anyone tell me the kind of pain that is typical when reacting to gluten? I am having significant abdominal burning and nausea. My esophogus is burning and I feel like something is stuck in my throat and chest....
