ARCHIVED Nexium?
whitball replied to Terch's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I recently looked into having my medications compounded at an apothocary shop. The pharmacist informed me that Nexium is not gluten free and cannot be compounded. I will have to start taking Protonix, which can be compounded. -
Well, I've had it with my Dr. I'm ready for another who is willing to spend time with me and answer my questions. I had my six month endoscopy in July. I continue to have significant inflammation. He placed me on Nexium because my insurance refuses to pay for Protonix. So after he gave me the results of the edoscopy, he doubled my dose of nexium, thinking...

ARCHIVED Anyone Take Elavil For Sleep Or Pain?
whitball replied to jenvan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have taken elavil for pain for about 3 years. It helps me sleep through the night. It also stops me from staying awake to worry about life stuff. The only thing that I have noticed is when I forget to take it, I have very vivid, strange, off the wall dreams. -
I was diagnosed with IC in 2003. I have been miserable the last 4 weeks. My IC starts acting up when I am under stress. Of course stress is part of my daily life. I went to a walk-in clinic last week thinking that I had a kidney infection. Nope, must have been the IC. I'm miserable. It's hard to be a celiac and watch for IC stuff too. Of course, it...

ARCHIVED Beets, Pink Urine And Celiac Connection?
whitball replied to Jennas-auntie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have had this happen with canned beets. I usually eat the whole can though. I rarely have the chance to eat the fresh stuff. I was alarmed at first but realized that I had eaten a whole can an figured this was the cause of red/pink pee. Never thought it was an issue til I read this thread. Tara -
ARCHIVED How Many Of You/your Children Were Preemies?
whitball replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
my oldest child was two weeks late. My middle (daughter) was one week early. She was diagnosed with failure to thrive at 13 months and had problems with ear infections until she was 10. She had 2 surgeries for tubes in her ears. Yet, her doctor refuses to test her. my youngest was born 6 weeks early. All were c-sections, and I was diabetic with each... -
ARCHIVED 6 Month Endoscopy Results
whitball replied to whitball's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A blood test was done, but I have not gotten the results yet. Maybe I am still getting gluten in my system. You're problably right. I will need to look more closely at med, etc. What about external stuff, like shampoo, soap, etc. I do not have skin break down. -
I had my 6 month endoscopy last week. My results were ready on Monday. When I had my first endoscopy 6 months ago, the dr. told me that he could see nothing wrong, but when the pathology report came in, it showed significant inflammation. My esophagus was very inflammed and diagnosed dysphagia/celiac disease. He placed me on a gluten free diet and prescribed...

ARCHIVED A gluten-free Week On A Ranch In The West Anyone?
whitball replied to Nevadan's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
your post made me so homesick! I am orginally from Buffalo, Wyoming, but lived in Laramie for several years before moving to Michigan in 1994. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Brought back the past for me and really made me want to go home. The whole area is beautiful. There are some awesome ranches in the Buffalo, Sheridan wyoming area, but not sure... -
ARCHIVED Stomach Cramping
whitball replied to Ash82's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My immediate concern is that you have been gluten free prior to your endoscopy. You really need to have a true test result. Or did I misinterpret your information? Have you had blood work that indicated to you that you are possibly a celiac? You may need to look at the ingredients in your popsicle to see if it is truly gluten free. You may need to contact... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Trouble With gluten-free Breads?
whitball replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had problems with brown rice breads, with fruit juice. I can't remember the name of it. I ate some yesterday and it burned my throat. Kind of a wierd experience. -
I was diagnosed with IC in 2003. I'm still having an aweful time with it. I take elavil at bedtime for pain and take darvocet when I have really bad days. I do know that part of the problem is that I drink diet pepsi/caffiene free, when I get really hungry amd don't want my stomach to growl during meetings. I am always hungry on the celiac diet. It's...

Welcome to the forum! This web site is a great place to ask questions. There are lots of experienced people who offer good, solid advice. My advice to you is to go slow. Don't be in a hurry to find everything on the market that is gluten free. If you are like others here, you may be sensitive to other things in addition to gluten. I went out and bought...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed - So Much Pain
whitball replied to chgomom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
welcome to the forum. I have had many years of muscle pain, fatigue and burning. The gluten free diet has been a godsend. Listen to the advice offered here on this forum. The people here have been awesome and helpful. Ask questions and don't be worried if it sounds stupid. It's not. Stick with the diet and start slow. Don't introduce too many new... -
I have had problems recently, but I think that it may be related to wine or oj. How has it been for you?
-
Steve, I also have this problem. My throat feels tight as I write this reply. I can often hear liquids squeak down my throat. My boss actually heard the squeak today at lunch. This is a real problem and I am surprised that it was not noticed during your endoscopy. Did you have an endoscopy?

ARCHIVED Bards Guten Free Beer Update
whitball replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I definitely need this beer in Michigan. Pretty Please! -
110 degrees is way too hot for me! Sorry you don't have the chance to be outside. It is like that here in Michigan in the winter, where it is just too cold to exercise outside. The humidity is quite high here as I live near Saginaw Bay. In the winter the humidity cuts right through my jacket and singes my nose hairs! I also live in...

I'm so excited! I rode my bike twenty miles today! The last time I did this I was in bed for a week! I am amazed at the amount of stamina that I have had since going gluten free in February. I just had to tell people who would get it Thanks for letting me brag for a few minutes. Tara

I have was diagnosed with IC in 2003. I had a scope to look into my bladder. My bladder holds 700cc's of urine. The average bladder holds 1000. No hemorrages (sp?) were found but because of the fact that foods like tomatoes, lemonade, soda, etc caused lots of pain for me, my urologist diagnosed me with IC. There are people without hemorrages with IC...

Thanks Robb. I have not started weight training yet. I worked in a gym several years ago and have taught a few body sculpting classes and also taught people how to use free weights/nautilus. I also have a few friends who are personal trainers, so, I should be okay. A few questions though, should I use nautilus or free weights? Less weight, more reps...

Robb, thanks for your advice. I appreciate your time. I plan to follow your suggestions. What is RA? and my thigh muscle biopsy showed that I had many, many small muscle fibers and there were a few denervated nerves in the sample. Do I need to do different exercises/diet based on the information presented from the biopsy? Tara

Gabrielle, anxiety has been my worst enemy and it is for alot of people. I can understand how you feel and how helpless you feel. I kept my anxiety a secret for most of my life. I started having them when I was a little girl and was convinced that I was not a normal person. Don't let anyone in your life make you feel like you are a bad person because...

Hi Rob, welcome to the forum. I am excited to have someone with your expertise on this forum and one who is willing to offer assistance. In the early 80's, I was a college athlete. I am now 45 years old and today I ran for the first time in 12 years. I have spent the last twelve years completely unable to run, barely able to lift weights and experienced...
