  1. These sound pretty good. I love peanut butter and squash. Thank you!
  2. I initially really liked New Grist. I drank so much of it, I think that I could qualify as having stock in the company. I have found that rice causes problems for me, so I tried Redbridge. Pretty good stuff. The great thing is, it is sold in most of the stores that I shop at!
  3. thank you all for the suggestions. I'll try them!
  4. I have had problems with corn and rice flour. I have very little experience with the variety of flours available and do not know which combinations work. My work involves lots of driving and I cover two counties in Michigan. Eating out has turned out the be a bad thing for me. I eat many meals in my car and have found that pancakes are very easy to snack...
  5. My son is fourteen and has had recurrent ear infections since November. He has missed 40 days of school. No one and I mean no one would listen and he was passed from one doctor to another in our doctors practice. He was sent to an ENT and he was worthless. I finally demanded that our family doctor culture his ears and run blood tests for Celiac, Diabetes...
  6. Your description more closely describes mine. Do you find that food helps?
  7. The bread thing has really frustrated me. But, I found options that worked for awhile. I ate bagels, made pancakes, rice cakes with peanut butter and Jam. All of those options are gone for me as I am having problems with rice and corn. Hopefully this weekend, I can experiement with other options. Any good ideas?
  8. I also have flashing issues. I used to get this with migraines prior to menstration. After my hysterectomy in 2003, they stopped. However, during the last two months, the flashing has returned and it is in both eyes. It's almost like lightning, but in a circular shape. Seemed like it went away after I ate something, so I am wondering if it is a blood...
  9. 1. I hate having problems with corn and rice in addition to gluten 2. I hate gettiing glutened from a gluten free menu 3. I hate the headaches, muscle weakness and vomiting after getting glutened. 4. I hate having to wear larger clothes because of bloating in the afternoon 5. I hate the added expense of gluten free products 6. I hate repeating...
  10. I understand your pain. I have been gluten-free since 2/2006. It's been a year and I continue to struggle. Really, you need to keep your diet simple. Veggies, fruit, meats, etc. Don't try to add new foods until you master the basics. Adding new things must be slow and one thing at a time. I have recently discovered an intolerance to corn products....
  11. I used to have numbness of my chin, lips and the left side of my face. In addition, my tongue used to twitch. I have not had this since I went gluten-free in February 2006. What are the symptoms of low b12?
  12. No offense taken by me by your post. I have had two good experiences at the same OutBack. I had steak, potatoe and salad. No reaction to this, by the way. I do agree that the Alice Springs chicken is very rich, but my body's reaction was severe and don't think that it was because of richness. I've been at this one year and have lots to learn. I have...
  13. Who does this test? Does the Celiac doc order this?, Allergist?
  14. Are you having skipped beats or a racing heart? If this has been going on all day, you probably should consider having it checked out at the ER so that it can be monitored during the episode. I have experienced this for several years and have had it checked out many different times. A few years ago the holter monitor finally captured enough information...
  15. I went to the Outback in Saginaw, MI and ate the Alice Springs Chicken for my 46th birthday in Feb. 2007. The menu indicated that this was gluten free. I vomited and had the D simultaneously for almost 9 hours. I also needed to stay home from work for three days. I was so sick that I considered going to the ER. I now understand that the risk is not...
  16. Absolutely Hilarious! A few years ago, we were at a store where military items were sold. We were in a crowded aisle with the gas masks and my youngest son said "we need these when mom uses the bathroom!" No magazines in my bathroom. I carry a solitaire game. I'm always in there for hours and need some entertainment.
  17. I use 2tsps of Land o lakes butter, 2 tbs of brown rice flour and 1 cup of skim milk and a dash of salt. works great with gravies or soups.
  18. Welcome to the forum! My advice to you is to read this forum. There is lots of support here. Also, keep it simple to start out with. Veggies, fruit, proteins, etc. Your gut will need to heal. Don't be in a hurry to rush out and find all of the gluten free stuff you can find. I did this and ended up not being ready for these things until recently. ...
  19. "Thanks for all of your comments. I have tried a variety of gluten free soy sauces, but it's been difficult for me to make the change over. I did not know that La choy was gluten-free. I'll look into it. Thanks. Yes, I do realize that there are alot of people who have worse problems than I do. I am a social worker, so I am aware that there is a whole...
  20. Okay, I've been gluten free since February. I've decided that this is just the worst thing in the world. I just need to vent. I'm sick of the whole thing. I'm sick of trying to be careful. I'm tired of pain. I just want to be normal. To have a good pizza, to have eggrolls, decent soy sauce, etc, etc. I made a delicious chinese meal for my son's friends...
  21. I had several surgeries in my life time. Three c-sections, two laparoscopies to take out ovarian cysts and a hysterectomy. Now I have intersistial cystitis and chronic pelvic pain. I wonder if they were related too.
  22. I take paxil and elavil. I like the paxil, but it seems to not be as effective after taking it for awhile. I recently requested an increase and the dr. allowed me to go to 50mg, then in a few weeks to go to 60, which is the maximum dose. I do like it though as it helps take the edge off of my anxiety and irritability. Elavil is used for pain in low doses...
  23. I live in Midland. Does anyone have a info on a good specialist in this area?
  24. these are hilarious! I'm sitting in a hotel in Detroit, bored out of my mind and find this thread, Thanks!
  25. I am so confused! Who can we believe?
