    ARCHIVED "the Trigger"

I'm part of the mono party! I had mono when I was both 5 and 6, and I started having problems not long after that.
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone. I really like the idea of getting letters from their teachers about their improved behavior. I'll talk to the teachers about it tomorrow so that they can get it done before we go to court. Their dad hasn't taken them for visitation since last Thurs, so they have been off gluten for a few days in a row, and they are so much...
  3. Sorry I haven't updated for awhile; the kids have been keeping all of us busy. I am so lucky that I still live at home and that my family is extremely helpful. Anyways, the boys are doing well for the most part. We decided to hold off on the feeding tubes for the time being. The doctor wanted to give them a chance to try gaining weight without one. So...
  4. I was born one day late, weighing 8 lbs 13 oz, and I was 22.5 inches long. Nicolas and Matthew were born right around their due dates, and were both 7 1/2 lbs and 21 inches. Sean was born at 26 weeks, and was 1 lb and 11.5 inches long. He has encountered many problems in his short 2 yrs on earth, but he is a miracle baby and is just like many other...
  5. Good for you!!! I'm just getting to the point where I don't care either. Like you, I've spent a lot of time worrying about what other think, and I'm tired of it. I wore a bikini to the waterslides a few weeks ago, and I had some people giving me looks and making comments, but I was happy and didn't care. Just focus on eating healthy and letting your...
  6. Yay!!!! Congrats!
  7. Things have changed so much during the last few days! The boys are currently off of gluten, corn, and dairy, and I'm limiting sugar (3 sugar-filled boys are too hard to deal with) and soy. Yesterday was the first day where there was no anger in any of the kids. Of course they still had their normal sibling arguments, but what kids don't? Nothing got...
  8. Thank you so much for all the advice! I'm starting to calm down, and I think everything will go well. We just got back from the health food store, and bought some "safe" things for the boys. Tanya, I really like your suggestion about attacking things one at a time. Gluten, dairy, and corn seem to be their worst allergies/intollerances, so I am going...
  9. For those of you who don't know, I am guardian of my cousin's 3 young boys (ages 2, 3,and 4) while she is in Iraq. I was diagnosed with celiac in Jan, and not long after, I was convinced that her middle son had celiac. At the time, he was 2.5 years old, and around 20 lbs (at 38 inches tall). After lots of setbacks (drs not cooperating, and my cousin being...
  10. I'd try it for sure I feel the same way; it's nice to see that I'm not alone.
  11. The pain isn't too bad (not as bad as my jaw surgery was; which I did sans pain meds). Strong pain meds (anything stronger that 1 tylanol a week) cause me to have heard attacks, so I only took one pain pill (which caused a heart attack-no more pain meds for me!). I did fine without the pain meds. It was more a feeling of discomfort than pain. For the...
  12. I wish I could forget, but I'm not at that point yet. Right now, my brain fog is so bad that I can barely think straight, let alone type a coherent sentence. It makes it hard to forget. I'm looking forward to the day that I don't have to think about it during all my waking hours
  13. Thanks for coming back and giving us another chance . All of the regular posters on here are awesome and helpful. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with rude people. I know how if feels. A few months ago, I posted a topic about how I was a vegetarian, but I was thinking about eating some chicken. Lots of people responded and gave me their advice and opinions...
  14. I'm in Modesto, and I have not found a safe place to eat yet, besides Chili's and Outback. My boyfriend lives in the Berkeley area, so I can't wait to try all those restaurants when I visit him!
  15. That sounds so good! Where do you get the Follow Your Heart Vegan "mozzerella"? Does it melt similar to real cheese?
  16. Congrats Nancy!!!
  17. I always stay away from Quaker products because of the cc issue. I got horribly sick after eating one, and I'd never do it again.
  18. I know that my reflux get really bad when I've been exposed to gluten (it's much better when I'm gluten-free).
  19. Honestly, I have moments where I think about what it would be like to eat gluten again. However, I will never purposly eat gluten.
  20. That is so sweet!
  21. I actually found this board by doing a search for gluten-free bread. Thank goodness I did, because I don't know what I'd do without this board.
  22. Welcome Kendra!! Good luck with everything
