I dug up this thread because I wanted to mention I saw a story on Dateline a couple weeks ago about children with autism. The story featured an organization made up of parents with children living with autism and they talked about a topical chelation used for treatment, it was a lotion or cream of some kind that they rubbed on the child's forearms, and it...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Green12 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The pain that I have when I am ovulating is usually a day, never more than two. This is called mittelschmertz, a term to denote midcycle pain associated with ovulation, a very common phenomenon. It is usually on one side (the side that's ovulating that cycle) and is sharp and short-lived, lasting only a few hours. Most women would not consider mittleschmertz... -

I also can also react to jewelry when I am hyper sensitive to metals. Rachel, it concerns me that you are still having ovary pain. Mine would usually subside after a day or two at the longest. Can you call your doctor and let them know you continue to have pain?? -
Robb, Yes, here we go! Thanks for answering all of my questions and thanks for these book suggestions. I'm ready, I just needed a plan! I'm very good at following something when I know what it is to follow, and not knowing what to eat/what not to eat has been challenging, and I've been stumbling around trying to figure that out for too long. And...

ARCHIVED The Best Mousse Recipe Ever!
Green12 replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This cashew cream sounds interesting. I could definitely experiment with a mouse type dessert with this. And what a bonus it is casein free!! Thanks Andrea, I will file it away with my "want to try" recipes I have Flovorganics vanilla that states on the bottle it is "gluten-free". Yours sounds ok, I think alcohol as an ingredient is suspect, unless... -

Andrea, pots de creme are incredibly easy as well, and a little more of a fancy dessert like the mousse. I don't have a specific recipe but it's mainly chocolate and cream and eggs and sugar and vanilla. Oh wait here: BLENDER POTS DE CREME 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips (1 c.) 1 egg 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. gluten-free vanilla Pinch of salt 3/... -

Oooh raspberries would be good too! Let us know how that turns out. I would like to try a chocolate version as Andrea inquired about, but I think it would have to be tweaked slightly. Unfortunately dairy is in no way my friend, but I enjoy cooking for other people, and once in a while I sneak a small bite. -

Eww, I don't like overcast either, or rainy. I would never survive in a climate where it was mostly overcast and rainy, like Seattle? I love the sun! Just not too hot of sun. Our weather really is quite mild here, rarely at an extreme. 100 is not the norm, more like high 70s and 80s is more typical. I would love to live in Arizona Andrea, I love... -
Robb, All this makes a lot of sense, thanks so much for your reply! I just have a couple of questions if you don't mind me asking, I don't want to take up too much of your time 1) I try to rotate what I am eating everyday because of my multiple food allergy/intolerance issues, is that a problem or is it better to do what you suggest, rotating...

Miamia, oh wow, that sounds painful, stretching the esophogial dialations, yikes. I didn't get my GERD until a little later in my illness and now it's worse than ever. It definitely is improved/reduced, even stopped, by eating the right things, and you are so right, finding out what those right things to eat are is very challenging. I notice I do... -

Yay Floridian!!!! I turned on the tv early this morning and flipped through all the news channels to see what happened, nobody was talking about it, NOBODY. I thought, "why isn't anybody covering the storm?", and I flipped and I kept flipping, channel after channel. I figured no news was good news? I'm so glad I didn't see any footage of helicopter... -

Floridian, I'm signing out for the night. I just wanted to say I hope you guys have a safe night tonight and I hope to hear a positive update when I sign in tomorrow. I am continually praying that it will change course or lose strength as it gets closer and closer to you all. I have a lot of the same questions as Rachel, do you have a plan, where do... -
ARCHIVED Non-aluminum Dedorant
Green12 replied to sdore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This actually would not surprise me. Sweating is our bodies natural way of excreting toxins and etc. from the body through the pores in our skin, our skin being the largest organ of the body. The aluminum in anti-perspirants inhibits the perspiration so I would imagine if/when you stop using it a detox would happen?? Makes sense to me -

"Even though aluminum is not considered to be a heavy metal like lead, it can be toxic in excessive amounts and even in small amounts if it is deposited in the brain. Many of the symptoms of aluminum toxicity mimic those of Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis. Colic, rickets, gastrointestinal problems, interference with the metabolism of calcium, extreme n... -

Lister, here are some tips for cleaning the pans I have, I imagine they would apply to all stainless steel? Never use metal utensils on your stainless steel surface or on the non-stick surface... -

Green12 replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OH! Steel wool is not the best thing to use on stainless steel, someone can correct me if I am wrong on that, but I have a set of All Clad pans and in the cleaning intructions they say steel wool is a big No-No for cleaning stainless. Maybe it's different for other pans, I don't know? -

That is a major symptom of mine, difficulty swallowing, reflux, esophagial (sp?) spasms, and it has gotten worse with time. When I have eaten something I react to my entire digestive tract from the mouth all the way to the other end is inflamed, tissue extremely irritated, and all of these above mentioned symptoms come on really strong. I never have diarrhea... -

It can be harmful to be too alkaline, it's a condition called alkalosis. True that when we are acidic illness and disease set in, and that can be normalized by eating more alkaline forming foods and reducing acidic forming foods and keeping the body ph at a more balanced level (neither too acidic or too alkaline). Symptoms of Alkalosis: Confusion... -
