I have this too! My hands and feet and lips and nose get really really cold, like ice. My fingernails and toenails will turn blue. Also my core body temp will feel like it just bottoms out, I will be freezing. Sometimes so freezing that my body will shake and my teeth chatter. (do teeth chatter?) Then I will have hot flashes and sweating and a flush...

Congratulations Rachel, good work. I am really happy for you I really admire your strength, for never giving up in your search for answers. I feel like I am a few steps behind you. I am slow to process everything and I am still going through a lot of information as far as what and what not to eat. Plus I have to recover from my 6 day gluten fest... -

Rachel, I think pectin is in jelly too. I usually get all the 'just fruit' ones with nothing else added, but I think those still have pectin. I'll have to look into that. I can't seem to tolerate these jellies and maybe it's because of the pectin. Calicat, thanks for all of your insights. Always so helpful and upbeat I am wondering if... -

I just wanted to tell everyone that if I overlook any of your posts it's not intentional. There is so much new activity everyday and I sometimes don't get everyone/everything read or replied to. Rachel, I'm so excited for you. Does this mean you are going to purchase the book I know, I'm right there with you. I don... -

Christina, I have shared the same thoughts many times over the last several years, that maybe I should go vegan. There are times when I can't stomach any animal foods. But I have tried to go without and I get blood sugar issues. I can't tolerate any soy for a protein source, or nuts and seeds, and rice (or other grains) and beans don't hold me at... -

Calicat, I seem to do fine with Fronteir spices, just the plain herbs/spices and not the mixtures or 'blends'. There is supposedly some added ingredients in the blends. I like to cook with spices to add some flavor to my dishes, like I can't stomach plain baked chicken for some reason so I kick it up a little bit with different things. For... -

Yeah, one bowl drop cookies are hard to mess up. Especially for those of us who are used to eating a restricted diet. Pretty much anything that resembles a cookie hot out of the oven will taste good This sounds great, I probably wouldn't use the shortening but I could substitute an oil for it. I might experiment with some cinnamon, nutmeg, or anise... -

I haven't tried agave. I will have to look into that. What is the recipe for your cookies? Please do share This book I have doesn't use any eggs, I think most every recipe can be modified to use any flour and liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or agave). On American Idol, I totally forgot it was on, I just saw the last 5 minutes... -

What a horrible experience for you and your kids. It's good that you learned from this, now planning ahead to be prepared if this should happen again, taking food with you. You're like an old pro right out of the gate -

Floridian, Also, the thing about dairy, if I understand this correctly, it's the casein that can be a real problem not necessarily the lactose. It might be why you reacted to the lactaid as well because the casein was still present. Casein is the protein in dairy, lactose is the sugar. Lots of people in this celiac community have problems with both... -

dlp, I do that too!! When you have such a myriad of symptoms it's difficult to remember every single one right on the spot. It's when I read everyone else's posts that I remember oh yeah, I get that too! I also get the pain in the teeth and my lymph glands in my throat swell when I have a reaction. Also under the arms and behind the knees. And night... -

Hi Calicat! You are always saying such nice things About the strawberries and tomatoes, I just find they don't agree with me when I eat them. I don't have any major symptoms with them, but I just don't feel right- they are questionable for me. If that makes sense? So I try not to eat them very often. I will have tomato products once in a great... -

Floridian, What you might want to do first to see if you can tolerate brown rice is make up a batch of whole grain brown rice and test a small amount to see if you have any symptoms. This product does sound promising, but if you use it to bake with you will be adding in other ingredientss and you might not be able to tell what you are reacting to. Just... -

I just get my mag citrate caps at the health food store. Heartburn is a whole other story. It is interesting how many people in this celiac community alone have this problem. It seems like from all the posts it is a VERY large percentage. I was having severe reflux in the last year or so and it seems to be under control now after changing my diet... -

jersey and Rachel, I wish figuring out the food intolerances was my only problem. I have debilitating periods that haven't improved with any diet change I have made and I have this dang edema that is like a freak of nature, it's scary and I don't know what it is or what to do for it it and nobody else (even doctors) knows what it is or what to do for... -
Actually it is killing us, slowly killing us. If glutamate isn't harmful than why are the drug companies developing drugs for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's that are glutamate receptor blockers. They have made a direct link between glutamate neurotoxicity and these neurological diseases. So my family and I would have to disagree with you since we've already...

I haven't been to the dentist for a long time, but I could never handle any kind of anesthesia that they gave me. First of all they would have to give me so much because it wouldn't take and then when I would finally get numb I would be out. Afterwards I never felt 'right'. It would take me a couple weeks to get it out of my system.

jersey, I'm always hesitant to disclose how many years it has been for me. I have really struggled with the reality of that, it's nearly half my life. I don't want to trouble anyone going through something similar, that this is how it will be for them. We are all different anyway and have different paths to healing with different time frames. I can look... -

Rachel, when you describe all these symptoms they are so freakishly similar to mine. When I am reacting I fee l so toxic and like it is oozing out of every poor on my body, my skin, my scalp. My core temperature completely drops out to where I am bone cold and my toenails, fingernails, and lips are blue, I feel like ice. And then I will also get hot flashes... -

I have had a lifetime of C, my mom told me I was born with C! I was given every type of supplement known to man to treat the C, did enema after enema, colonics, I even went to a holy woman to try to clear the blockage I was that desperate. I couldn't do psyllium or flax seed because I was highly allergic to both substances and they really irritated my... -

This is interesting. I think I have a big forehead. I haven't been tested for celiac genes though and I don't know what side of Ireland I descend from. My ancestry is mostly Irish and Scottish, English, and American Indian. I have really fair skin, hazel eyes, and was a toe head when I was little but my hair has gotten darker through the years, it's more... -
OMgosh Ursula, this makes me cringe. So sorry you had to go through all that. My sensitivity wih jewelry comes and goes. With necklaces and bracelets I usually get a rash regardless if it is metal or beaded jewelry. This made me laugh, how cute are you?!?! Depending on how many days I have been ingesting the offenders, it really does take a good 4 days for the fluid to even begin to release and then it goes down a little more everyday after that. If I just eat something for one day I can get away with just having a minor amount of puffing that will be present the next...
