  1. OMG, I don't think I could last on a low phenol/salicylate diet. Cabbage alone would rip my intestinal tract apart! Geesh. Rachel, I just thought of something. Are you drinking filtered water? If the area you live in is surrounded by farming and they are using Auxigro and other chemicals I wonder if you are getting exposed environmentally as well...
  2. Good luck. I was thinking you could eat before you go and just enjoy the company, but if you don't eat what they serve will that hurt their feelings too? You can't get sick and you don't want to hurt their feelings...that's a tough one. I haven't had to deal with a situation like this, maybe someone else will have some ideas?
  3. Thanks for clarifying this. So basically you just do it similar to baking it in the oven, with a little water on the bottom of the pan in order to create a steaming effect, but you're doing it on top of the stove. Covered, or uncovered, or does it matter?
  4. What does one eat when avoiding phenols/salicylates? I do know that NAET treatments are suppose to help with this, ironically they talk about NAET treatments on one of the MSG information websites too.
  5. Mostly I have GI symptoms, but for me the degree of reactivity I find depends on what other ingredients the soy is mixed with. If I have soy ice cream or baked goods with soy in them I get terrible GI symptoms (but it's the absolute worst with soy ice cream), so I suspect soy + sugar has synergistic effects in my body. If I have soy protein powder I get...
  6. Ok, good to know. Would it get all watery or something with the insides exposed and submerged by the boiling water? Maybe I am not invisioning this right, I assumed when they say 'boil' you boil the whole thing, uncut in a huge pot submerged in water.
  7. Thanks barilla for sharing your experiences. mvaught that is encouraging to hear your pregnancies went well even with endometriosis present. I think I have that and most likely fibroids or polycystic ovaries syndrome as well, which is another concern.

    ARCHIVED Tai Chi - Qigong

Thanks everybody for the feedback. GravStars, The tape I got is by Living Arts as well, but it is titled "Qigong for Energy". I hear several big cities, maybe even some of the smaller communities too, offer free tai chi/qigong classes through different organizations. Thanks for the info.
  9. I am still trying to find some info about fish. I did come across something about salmon having an orange colored glaze with MSG in order to make it look fresher, but I don't know if that is just farm raised or if it includes wild salmon as well. dlp, I know what you mean about cooking everything. It is tiring and draining for sure and takes a lot...
  10. Hi broncobux (great nickname you have there ), You know the stuff that makes restaurant food taste so good? That's basically what I can't tolerate. I don't know if it's the iodized salt or the sulfites that are on the vegetables, or other additives in the seasonings, sauces, etc., or all of the above and then some- but I just can't eat out. I get...
  11. Carla, oh no not at all, I didn't think you were judging me. I think as you can see by the responses in this thread everybody has varied ways of dealing with eating/eating out, from not caring to pulling in, and that was the observation I was making that it is an individual thing and I didn't want to pass judgement on anybody for their choices. Special...
  12. Hi ajay, If I understand correctly it is grown on corn?? I always get this confused, the others know it better and it is well talked about on the 'Avoiding Corn' board at Delphi. But, recently some of us 'avoiding corn' people have been investigating MSG allergies/sensitivities because it turns out MSG is in a lot of corn derived products and what I...
  13. lol Guhlia!! I also have Raffi in the car for the nieces. Such addicting stuff, I'll find myself randomly humming the songs during the day!
  14. Whoa! I totally missed the part about your suicidal thoughts, my reply must have seemed trivial about watching your sugar intake, so sorry. I agree that that sounds a little more serious and maybe you should take a closer look at that with another doctor if your present one is dismissing these symptoms. Good luck to you
  15. This is great Rachel, thanks for this expanded list! Calicat- I know several people that took those Ultra Clear products and they never could tolerate them, let alone heal in any away when taking them. I've taken them all multiple times at one point or another, but the Ultra Sustain (I believe that one is for leaky gut specifically) made me the sickest...
  16. Good question. I would assume anybody could be sensitive/intolerant to any food. I have a big problem eating cauliflower, cabbage, eggplant, or kale - they upset my stomach so much after eating them, very much like how you say you get after eating carrots, so I just stay away from them. I don't know if it's a fiber thing or if they are just hard...
  17. I didn't know that either, wow, all this time! That makes sense as to why on my tests I came up allergic to kidney beans, pinto beans, green beans, as well as other things....but as far as the beans, I thought what in the world? I ate green beans pretty much everyday, the other beans hardly ever. Maybe they are in the same family and I just cross reacted...
  18. I noticed that for me my diet really affects the outcome of my PMS. If I happen to have more sugar than usual, chocolate, or even full fat dairy leading up to that point then it makes my symptoms worse. I also notice if my blood sugar is in check, like I make sure every meal (snacks too) is well balanced with protein and a small amount of carbs I have...
  19. Thanks for this link Vydor, I will check it out! Ha ha, so true. I'm glad we all gravitated toward each other and maybe we can figure all of this out, maybe write a book, solve all the world's problems, etc, etc jk!! I don't want to seem like a radical, I prefer more balance in my life and energy- I am mad and angry yes...
  20. oh, and one more thing, even if you write to companies asking about MSG in their products I am not so sure we can even trust their answer. Did you read all that stuff on the board about how the different companies are trained/instructed on how to answer inquiries about MSG? No, you can't possibly be having a reaction to MSG or no our products do not contain...
  21. Sorry you got so sick, hope you feel better real soon!
  22. Rachel, I am scared too to take any of my supplements. I have been taking so many supplements for over ten years, gobs and gobs of them, and they never did anything for me. I kept taking them thinking one day they will kick in and do their magic, in some ways I think I got worse. For example, it is common when you have illness to be told to take...
  23. Great news! I hope you have a speedy and comfortable recovery!!
  24. Right now I am just going to do the meat, a few eggs, fruits, and veggies that are allowed. I don't do well with dairy so the cheese/milk is out for me and I have overloaded on rice up to this point and I may have a sensitivity so I decided to leave that out too. I do wonder about fish though, is there a MSG problem there?? And what about fats/oils...
  25. I remember reading that peanuts are very moldy so it might not be a specific peanut problem but the toxic mold on them, but I totally could be wrong about that. Christine welcome to the little support group we have going here I decided I am going to have to go au natural, I already was pretty much, but I am really going to get into it. I am going...
