  1. Yeah..you love 'em or you hate 'em. There isn't much of an in between. I liked them--many did not. Kaiti, I told my mom about the nuggets and we're both on the look out
  2. A few months into diagnosis I had my one and only gluten-eating dream. It was in a dark, kind of dingy looking restaurant...I had a piece of chocolate cake (which I don't even like) and was assured it was gluten-free. Against my better judgment, I ate it, then I panicked. I considered vomiting as much of it up as I could--then I woke up.
  3. You can absolutely do a gene test any time you want...on or off a gluten-free diet. As Kaiti said, your genes do not change with your diet...your antibody levels will, which is why the other tests need to be done while on gluten, but the gene test can be done at any time.
  4. I would never eat something that didn't disclose the modified food starch--it may not be gluten, but it may also be. I have found products in which that is the culprit--can't remember which ones because they were quickly stricken from my mental list of foods...but they do exist. Some ingredients that are questionable: Modified Food Starch Food Starch...
  5. Absolutely...definitely add that one--that's 192, I think
  6. Yea...soy lecthin (spelling?) is fine...gluten-free.
  7. Open Original Shared Link Choose your area from the above....there are over 400 restaurants in Italy that are "certified" with this program.
  8. Oh, I see, cool. I thought there would be some simple meaning behind it, but I didn't know what it was . Thanx for answering. Nobody's asking me to do anything, but I'm inserting all the "emoctions" anyway, lol
  9. Open Original Shared Link The first one... and it has the nutritional info link...can't wait to try!

  11. Well, you can really post anywhere if it's pertinent--i.e. the food and products section if you're inquiring about a certain food, doctors if you're inquiring about a GI, etc. For testing, pre-diagnosis, symptoms, etc., as the others have said, pre-diagnosis would probably the place to introduce yourself or ask questions.
  12. It was a misprinted label...the bread was in fact gluten-free. The company scrambled to fix this problem...happened a few months ago.
  13. Hey. I know Ian's are pretty controversial--you like 'em or you don't. And you tried those and liked them as I did...how do the ones you mentioned compare to Ian's? THanks
  14. I like the bread from Charlotte's bakery a lot, but I only tried it at a conference and I think the shipping is ridculous. I recently tried a whole foods bread which was equally good, baked fresh, the best store-bought I've ever tried. I tried Mona's at the conference as well...comes in mix form and it tasted excellent, as well...no bread machine required...
  15. Someone on the Listserv started this gluten-free restaurant list...anyone can edit it at the links below:

  17. Don't be sorry that was very informative--wow...the equivalent of 24 cans...!
  18. Anh...some people might react, but I would be surprised if you could get glutened in the time you need to buy a coffee.

  20. A negative gene test means that you can be 99.9999999999999% sure that your son isn't celiac--almost guarantee. And that will NOT be affected by age. Because of that, retesting wouldn't really tell you much--because no doctor will diagnose celiac without a gene. Gluten intolerance can be used synonymously to mean celiac, but can also be when one cannot...
  21. Hey, Ben, are you Mariann's son or are you a different Ben? Yep...those avatars ...I started with the waterfall a few weeks after I got here. A few weeks later I changed waterfalls. After a few months, I gave up on trying to find a cute, funny, or interesting avatar.... oh well, I figure that at least people know if they see a waterfall, it's probably...

    ARCHIVED Protien Bars

I like the Genisoy bars (most aren't gluten-free, though, so you have to check). I've tried the Larabars and I don't mind them--not something I would eat constantly for the pleasure of dates and other dried fruits, but it's not terrible...and that's a pretty good review, me being a picky fourteen-year-old
  23. I don't know...probably not...but I'm not qualified to pass judgment on this--all the same, you'd probably be better off drinking regular--better to get some normal sugar and a hundred or so calories than a lot of artificial sweetner.
  24. Thank you...I was serious about that, but it's funny all the same Ha....we go from Crest toothpaste to Trojan condoms over a fifteen post span. If anyone wants the blow-by-blow of the thread (gosh, stupid puns ) it was that some guy noticed that there was some powdery stuff or something on "them." So he would...put "it" on and wash his hands...he...
