I had no problem eating after i drank the shake. i plan on taking it regularly, probably several times a week, not in place of a meal, but as my drink with a meal. i did not find it to be "filling," but i did find it to be tasty. i suppose a person could use it for weight loss if that's what their needs are, but i find no reason not to add it to a meal so that i have the added benefits to the readily available nourishment this stuff provides.

it is not difficult to do a parasite cleanse. go to your local health food store and ask for help. most professionals reccomend doing a fiber drink as well to help remove the dead parasites, just make sure both products are gluten free.

I was in Whole Foods yesterday and stumbled upon a product called Vega. While it claims to be so nutritionally complete, I feel it could benefit some of us malnourished and underweight people who might use it as an added meal/nourishment basis. Or for those days when we've been glutened, or for those days when we're sick, etc. This stuff is virtually made for person's like ourselves as it is very alkaline and conducive to healthy gut flora - something that is typically very compromised in celiac persons. Its definitely worth checking out. www.myvega.com. I tried the chocolate and it was yummy!
Here's a quick clip regarding their drink mix (from their website):
With just 240 calories and 7g of net carbs per serving (natural flavor), Vega is an excellent choice for those on a calorie-reduced diet. High in fiber, protein and essential fats, Vega is naturally filling and satisfying, helping to suppress appetite and cravings.
Easily digested, alkaline and great-tasting, Vega is clean and green, containing no animal products, corn, dairy, egg, fillers, gluten, soy, sugar, wheat or yeast. Absolutely no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners and GMO and pesticide-free.
Vega is available in wholesome and delicious Natural, Berry and Chocolate flavors, in three sizes: individual 20g Snack Packs, small bottles containing 7-8 servings and large bottles containing 15-17 servings. One serving of Vega is a complete meal, exceeding all meal replacement requirements, but people with smaller appetites may find half a serving sufficiently satiating.

ok so i have to admit i have been analizing my movements alot lately always looking down as they have been very green lately with lots of mucus, but today there was something else in it, ( this is where it gets gross) so i grabbed the gloves my doctor gave me * he wants me to examine my stools for some reason* and i pulled out what litarly looks like a piece of thin tape, like film or something it was really really wierd could this be a tape worm? it is white slightly green but i think that was just from the movement, i was originaly thinking it was lettice but lettice would not be such a perfect strip like that, like it looked like a water test strip but clearish

it took me only a few days to feel better after eliminating dairy. digestion improved even more with enzymes and probiotics.
-
you've mentioned that you are having a hard time digesting. you might want to consider enzymes (read the lable make sure they don't have lactase if you're giving up dairy) and an enteric coated probiotic. these will help you loads in the digestion, fatigue, gas area. also put in some b6 & b12, which will be lacking if your gut bacteria is not in balance.
hang in there it will get better
-
i agree that bloodwork might reveal something.
also, you can get lots of vitK from spirulina and chlorella, which also happen to have lots of b vitamins, and also serves to alkalize the gut, clean blood, oxygenate the blood, etc. super healthy for you kind of thing, but not very tasty. you can get it in a drink mix at health food/whole foods kind of store - where it is yummy.
i give my children (ages 14 & 17) the following almost daily: spirulina, multi-vitamin, liquid b12 - 1000mg+/-free form amino acids, 1000mg. ester C, 600+/- mg. calcium citrate with D/mag (they don't always eat dairy), and liquid minerals a couple of times a week. they also take probiotics and enzymes periodically.
-
i had alot of gas due to a dairy intolerance. and even giving that up it was still a small problem that i have seemed to remedy with enzymes and probiotics.

i JUST FOUND OUT THAT i HAVE celiac disease AND JUST NOW REALISING THAT MY PSORIASIS, IBS AND PAIN IN THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF MY GUT IS ALL CONNECTED! I HAVE BEEN gluten-free FOR A WEEK NOW AND HOPE THAT ALL OF THIS WILL GO AWAY. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD HELP IT ALONG WITH TAKING OTHER THINGS LIKE YOU HAVE? OR IS NOT HELPING? WHAT PARASITE CLEANSE DID YOU TAKE AND HOW LONG?
======================================
if you're just starting, i would not do a whole lot. i would definitely add vitamins, especially all the B, with alot of B6 & 12, i would add probiotics and enzymes - they'll help heal up your gut much faster. then i would just wait and see...
Update. I looked into Threelac and it is gluten free. I also read up on Brewer's yeast. It can be made from gluten or sugars. There are Brewer's yeasts that are gluten free.I have checked up on Threelac and it is gluten free. I also read about the Brewer's yeast. It is not always made from gluten.
====================================
glad to hear that the brewer's yeast is okay in the threelac. are you ready to try it? you'll have to keep me posted, I'm curious to know how it works for you.
i'm still in the healing my gut, building up the healthy bacteria phase, threelac considerations are a long way off for me yet.
let me know...
I've been diagnosed with all of them; Celiac coming last.=====================================
do you mind if i ask what you have; celiac, IBS, psoriasis, arthritis?... i am most curious to be in touch with people who have similar symptoms. also, how long you've had these, and how long you've been gluten-free? and are you treating candidas?
-
Got Milk?
I found out the hard way that I not only had celiac but had developed an intolerance to milk. had the same symptoms as you. it could also be something like soy, corn, etc.
-
sounds exactly like celiac, you've come to the right place. keep browsing through this site and you'll get lots of info. you can also check out another site that i have found to be very helpful:

she sounds totally celiac from my perspective!! if it were me, i would not wait for the Dr's diagnosis, i would give her relief and start her on a gluten-free diet immediately!!! you will know better very soon, she'll even know better.
someone shared this website with us not too long ago and i am now a regular there. the information available there is priceless!!
Open Original Shared Link
do what you can to look around and look into the "Sticky - the Gluten Free File"
-
i had reflux for years and years before i knew i was celiac. i do not have damage to my teeth, but from what i understand, the acid can damage the teeth.
-
do you eat dairy? i had what you're describing and i found out i could not eat dairy.
-
i get insomnia when i'm glutened too.
caffeine is so hard on your body, do you drink enough water? dehydration will make you more tired than caffeine can wake you up. dehydration will also give you brain fog and make you generally fatigued. i also agree with the power-nap of 20 minutes, it can go a long way.
whenever i get glutened, i immediately take charcoal - i take at least 5 capsules so that the charcoal will absorb the offending gluten. i don't get perfect results with this always, but it does make a big difference. the downside to charcoal is that it absorbs everything, nutrition, etc. in my book, that's okay as long as the gluten goes too. you can also do a drinkable form of clay, has no taste and will absorb anything in your gut. pick it up at health food store, or whole foods, good to have on hand.

ok since we're talking about yeast infections, i hope no one gets grossed out if i go into some details...last week i thought i had a yeast infection..so i got monistat and have been eating yogurt every day....the only thing is, the monistat (its the insertable with applicator kind) seems to really irritate the whole area for about an hour...is this a sign of the infection "dying off"??
also, the past few days i have had really really odd discharge - it doesn't smell but has a greenish tinge...any thoughts?
again, sorry to get graphic...i really dont' want to go to a doctor again....
thanks
Emily
================================================
two things:
one - stop the monistat - you're having what seems like an allergic reaction to it (been there, done that)
second - you probably do not have a yeast infection, it sounds bacterial and MUST be diagnosed by your OB. (sorry, i know that's a bummer).
i've had years of female stuff, especially ph imbalance and bacterial imbalance (i'm sure due to gluten/liver/hormone/i could go on and on). its a real drag.
i take three kinds of probiotics, i believe they're all guten free. they're all enteric coated and i have had really good results so far.
i know its hard being sugar free after having to maintain such a rigorous diet with the gluten-free stuff, but i think its common for celiac people to have some candidas, especially if they've been on any antibiotics for any length of time.
-
sounds like you may be detoxing. stool movements change dramatically when the offending (gluten) substance is removed. and it takes a while for that to happen. your body is in a state of major recovery, it is healing itself after a long battle. if you read up on colon cleansing, you'll discover that what you're describing sounds like cleansing and that it is normal (dark stools usually mean old poop). it would also result in additional brain fog because your body is working hard to eliminate the offending substance. in essence, you're body is toxic until you're clean and that takes time.
but i would not entirely rule out other offending substances such as dairy, soy, corn, and eggs (this seem to be the major ones). you might consider eliminating one at a time and reintroducing to see what happens.
you might also consider adding in some vitamins, especially the B's, particularly B6 & B12, iron and don't forget the probiotics and enzymes. but you might want to hold off on the iron until all of your bloodwork has been done, in case you're anemic.
for me it took 1-2 months being gluten-free before i started to feel some semblence of normailty, hang in there, you will get better, and you're not crazy at all.

Even on Oprah one day they talked about meat being putrified when you eat it. It doesn't digest in our bodies like other things. Also there are studies that say vegetarians live longer on average then meat eaters.
=====================================
i recall reading a study containing statistics showing meat eaters having a 40% higher risk for colon cancer than vegetarians.
-
sounds like you may have other food intolerances. perhaps you need to do some further eliminating/reintroducing to see if certain things bother you.
and i always add that probiotics and enzymes will dramatically help digestive problems. i have been on them the past few weeks and they have made a drastic difference in the legume area.
-
i was depressed too for a while, but like anything else i eventually accepted it. i think you have to grieve for a while, it is a big change that you had no choice in. you have a right to feel angry, sad, depressed, etc.
there is a bright side to it all. historically speaking, there has never been a better time for ANYONE to have celiac disease. i know this sounds crazy but think about it. we have access to a diagnosis so we don't have to sound like hypochondriac idiots and we have an incredible array of foods available just for celiacs that have never been around before. we have breads, pastas, cookies, cakes, pies, etc. everything that we had before with one exception, we don't have the same fast food satisfaction and even that (with a little planning) can be remedied.
don't worry, you will pull out of it and find your own groove. shop at a Gluten-Free Pantry locally or online, shop at Whole Foods where you'll find a whole slew of gluten-free foods and keep posting cause you're never alone.
take care,
guin
Its been mentioned before but always worth repeating....It is also quite normal to be depressed while breaking an addiction, especially one which is physical as well as psychological and there is a clear medical reason for this. Whether you choose to beleive it or not is up to you. You could also just try the remedy without having to believe in science.
{Gluten binds to the endorphin receptors which are necassary for the body to regulate its own mood. In the same way opiates like heroine work in the same way however they work somewhat more efficiently than gluten which fits badly and can damage the receptors.
When you break the cycle of gluten the receptors are no longer being fed this external endorphin (which is what gluten is classed as in the group exorphin with casein) but the body now needs to produce more and also the receptors are damaged and therefore the bodies own release of endorphins may not bind well. Exersize releases more endorphins, the classic example being Jane Fonda and her hooked on exersize and endorphin saga so more exersize will facilitiate more endorphins and a better mood... studies have shown vitamin B doses can help the recovery of the receptors although it seems both B6 and B12 are variously mentioned there is little harm in taking a full vitamin B suite suppliment. Vitamin 'D' also regulates moods and the way to get more is exposure to sunlight, direct or indirect }
So whether you choose to believe the above or not you can try and exersize, take vit B complex and get some sun and if it works then it works.
=======================================
i agree with this post entirely and could not make it through a week without my B vitamins and my 2 mile walks!!! they keep me energized and smiling.

if you HAVE to have some sort of dx on paper, then Enterolab would be the way to go, but why? You already have your answer. You know that gluten makes you sick, and that off of gluten you are better... stick to your gut instinct (pun intended) on this one and just stay gluten free and know that you are better for it.
=======================================
its a rather long story - that coincides with my rather extensive medical history. i don't need the diagnosis form my records, i want it for all of the Dr's i work with and at present, i am in the midst of filing for SS due to the severity of my arthritis - which i have had for 27 years. i am not able to tolerate NSAID's nor the newer meds out there - and celiac disease (grossly underdiagnosed, including its myriad of related health diseases) has contributed to the present status of my gut.
i also want it for a rather stubborn set of minds in my family who will be more inclined to look into their own health issues more openly. also, my children feel unwilling to partake in a gluten-free diet (they exhibit some symptoms) unless they test positive. i am unwilling to wait until they are sick and regretful, and yet because they're teenagers, they still feel invincable.
albeit said, the test will be worth it in many ways.
thank you for asking.

i am also vegetarian who is lactose free as well. i would NOT consider ever eating meat again. your body has long ago stopped producing the enzymes necessary to break down meat. i do think it sounds like you're a bit heavy on the soy, considering your body's response. you may have to cut it out entirely for a week or so and then reintroduce to see what your body does.
vegetables contain lots of protein - a fact few people seem to recognize. vegetarianism has been around for thousands of years in India. those people do not rely on soy, they get their proteins through lentils, garbanzo's, dairy, and a whole slew of vegetables, etc.
we eat, and eat, and overeat protein in this country, approximately 1/3 of what protein people take in daily is really necessary. we're literally brainwashed to think we need meat with every meal, it is simply not true. in fact, what is consumed by the typical american is quite difficult on the kidneys. additionally, meat is typically putrified in the body because it takes so long to digest (before it is excreted), especially read meat (a little fact most meat eaters do not like to hear). i could go on and on. suffice it to say, i don't agree with the idea at all.
it may help your gut (and your face) if you aid the situation with some probiotics and enzymes. be careful to read the ezyme label to see exactly what enzymes you're taking. candidas can also make it hard to digest complex carbs - you may want to look into that eventually.
hang in there and i wish you the best with your situation.
-
if you wait for a test ( blood or endoscopy) you'll be putting yourself through H--- for nothing! I have been gluten free for 3 years and tested negative to both. look into gluten-free foods and just start. its not that bad once you accept it.
welcome aboard - good people and excellent information here.
-
If you test positive - on either test - then the final confirmation of celiac is that you respond to a gluten-free diet. So the response is the basis for the final diagnosis. Stick to your guns. Why should you make yourself sick just to please your doctor?
==============================================
i would NOT sacrifice myself for a gluten test. my understanding is that there are other tests one can take without having to undergo gluten exposure. i am looking into the matter.
thank you for your support and input. it is much appreciated.
