  1. Hello all....I know we're always looking for safe and yummy dining experiences, so I wanted to share my experiences I've had at Macaroni Grill. I've been to the one in Cary, NC two times now, and have had a wonderful, gluten free meal and great service. Both times the manager on duty was Jim, and both times he came to my table, listened carefully, discussed...
  2. Thanks! I can't wait to try it

    ARCHIVED Pf Changs

OMG! I had the spicy chicken last night and asked if they'd throw some veggies in there with it, and it was sooooo good. I honestly almost cried! It was hot and sweet and sour all at the same time and so full of flavor...AND our waiter was very knowledgeable about the whole gluten free thing and really seemed to care and to GET IT. He also told me that...
  4. post it! you made me hungry!!
  5. Check out this website. Open Original Shared Link The NIH seems like a pretty good source to me, and I printed this info and took it to my GP, who has ordered all the tests they recommended, including testing my blood for all the nutritional deficiencies. I go for the bone density on Monday. Good luck!
  6. Welcome to the board, Wendy...and may I ask where you are in NC?
  7. Jenvan is right....talk it up! Have any of you met with resistance, though? One of my best friends and one of her daughters have CLASSIC symptoms of celiac. My friend's dad also died in his 60's of some kind of upper GI adenocarcinoma...hmmmmmm. My friend, however, who is VERY intelligent (a food scientist, actually) refuses to be tested or to have...
  8. 110/70 is about as perfect as you can get, I think and that pulse rate garners envy, too ! I'm not a big person, but not tiny....my arms are especially not tiny, since I'm a massage therapist...I look a little like Popeye I'm afraid but that comes with the territory. My pressure is low with whatever device they use to measure it. That is a good...
  9. Thanks for responding Susan! Did your blood pressure improve after going gluten free? Or was it unrealted to that? I just really want to feel better....less droopy, and I think that would help quite a bit to have it higher....
  10. Hi Everyone. I've been struggling with low blood pressure for a while now (some years) and I'm wondering if this is related to the celiac and if anyone else has this problem. Lately at the dr and also at the dentist (right before they cleaned my teeth, which I would think would make it go UP if anything) it has been extremely low. It was 76/48 at the dentist...
  11. Hello everyone. I'm wondering if y'all might know the answer to my question. I had to go in Friday for a urea breath test at the GI doc for H-Pylori. I had to take a little yellow capsule for the test, and (I don't know what came over me--this is HIGHLY uncharacteristic of me) I didn't ask what was in the capsule, and specifically if it contained any gluten...
  12. Hey everybody! Did anyone else see the great column that Joe and Terry Graeden wrote on celiac disease in the People's Pharmacy? It was in the News & Observer (the Raleigh paper) but I'm pretty sure it's a syndicated column. The column was all about how under diagnosed it is, how Dr's learn in medical school that it is a rare childhood disease that...
  13. hey, thanks! I tried it and it works....see? Open Original Shared Link
  14. wowza, Franceen, how DO you do that?
  15. go to ore-ida.com and click on FAQ's. Then you can go to an extensive list of their gluten-free products. I'd put the link here but I'm to stupid to figure out how that's done ENJOY!
  16. Fortunately, we use the individual cups in the Moravian tradition as well. As far as the different wines go, I'm reasonably sure that all wine is safe. I'd double check with an expert on that, but from my research I understand that wine is gluten free. cheers!
  17. I love my dining cards! I use the triumph ones. You can order them at triumphdining.com. I ordered the cards but not the dining guide as most people said that it isn't all that helpful. The cards are GREAT, however!
  18. If you go to ener-g.com you can order a box of 50 gluten free communion wafers for 7.99. That's what I'm going to do because I just had the cup at my last communion. I talked to my pastor about it, and he'll simply bless my wafer as he "serves" me instead of serving me one from the plate. (In the Moravian tradition, the ministers go out into the congregation...
  19. I got myself a cute little toaster/toaster oven combination at Target that I love. I leave it out on the counter and it is strictly gluten free. My DH asked the other night if he could heat up a leftover quesadilla in it if he wrapped it in foil first and I insisted that he not even do that. He seemed surprised by my answer and explained that he didn't...
  20. there's a website you can go to called glutenfreedrugs.com. This site will generally have the answer and has been a lifesaver for me!
  21. I am SOOO excited about this. I'm printing it and taking it to my GP at my next visit. It took years and years to diagnose me (I'm 44) and when he finally ordered a blood test, which came out positive, followed by a positive biopsy, he said, "Well, after I checked everything else I decided to look for really rare stuff." Oy! I'm so glad that the NIH is...
  22. YAY! Thanks guys . I know what we're having for dinner tomorrow night!
  23. I have a question. Has anyone tried a lasagna recipe where you don't cook the noodles? I had a lovely spinach lasagna recipe before my gluten-free life that you just used uncooked noodles I've been thinking of trying it with the tinkyada noodles......anyone have experience with this? I'd kinda like to know before I try it since lasagna isn't exactly a...
  24. I buy Snyder's tortilla chips and love them. They're just corn (enriched with thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, iron, and folic acid), canola oil and salt. I just checked the bag for allergen info and I states, "Produced in a facility that handles peanut butter." So that sounds good to me (unless you have a peanut allergy, of course ), but no mention of wheat...
  25. I consider myself to be pretty hyper-vigilant regarding gluten, but I don't stress over public restroom soap. I do make sure that my shampoo and other cosmetics (including soap) are gluten free at home. The shampoo makes sense to me b/c you're actually likely to be getting a little of it into your mouth when it goes down your face in the shower. Same for...
