AndreaB replied to AndreaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
That's true. He is sick and very sleepy. You're in much the same shoes we are except my dad is at home. Prayers for your family as well. Thanks Julie. They would probably understand that. Yea, Talitha already wants to know about what kind of parks they can go to. It's beginning to dawn on me that I'll need Mitch there... -
ARCHIVED Help! Need To Prepare Kids For Seeing Grandparent Who's Dying

Thanks Stephanie. I'll probably cry on hubby's shoulder tonight. School, what school. The thing with homeschool is we can take breaks whenever we need to. It's going to be a limite basis for awhile. We may just have to work into the summer more. -

We are going down to see my dad over Thanksgiving weekend. He has not told us directly what is going on....we've heard from close, reliable sources though. My mom got an email back from a friend in Arizona who is my dad's wife's brother. Anyway, Dad is in very bad shape. His tumors spread from his prostate clear along to his kidney. The prostate treatment... -

Hugs Susan. I'd come cry with you if I could....take care of you....at least you'd appreciate it. Just got off the phone with my mom and will be starting another thread about how to deal with this as well as posting on D/S. Rinne, Uggghhh about you MIL. Do as minimal as you need to maintain civility but try to avoid the situation as much as possible. You can't totally ignore her but you can minimize contact. Be sweet, polite and very vague. If she starts belittling someone you could always tell her she's entitled to her opinion but you don't want to listen to her put... -
Molly, Sounds like fun. Will be looking for updates. Sandy, Any news?

ARCHIVED New Here And Confused About Symptoms
AndreaB replied to Amanda L's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Amanda. I'm one of the ones that tested through enterolab due to being gluten very lite for 1 1/2 months. It sounds like you may need something concrete to follow the diet. If you decide to do the biopsy it is imperative that you continue eating gluten, equivalent of 3 slices a day of bread I believe. If you decide to do the biopsy... -

Hmmm, not really the best way to win a new client is it. You could just ignore the email. If she doesn't get your permission to call, she probably won't. -
Sorry you are so ill. Please make sure you get your liquids if you can't eat. Thoughts and prayers coming your way. Post when you can.

ARCHIVED Who Knows What Their Genes Are?
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Could be soy in his case as soy can cause as much damage as gluten. You raise some good questions. I got tested through enterolab after reading the article on the parent site here. Do you happen to have that? I usually copy things over from websites onto my computer. If you saved it I wouldn't mind a copy. -

ARCHIVED 21 Month Old "maybe?" Diagnosed With Celiac
AndreaB replied to sadiesmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Amy, Don't feel bad about nursing still. I nursed my first 2 for 2 years and 10 months and hope to continue that long with my youngest. I demand fed my oldest and they were still nursing 6 times a day at 2 years. My youngest only nurses 5-6 times a day since he was born and he sleeps through the night and has for quite awhile. He is also the only... -
ARCHIVED Not Sure What To Think Of Test Results
AndreaB replied to amyb220's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Keep in mind that biopsy's are often negative even though someone may have celiac. The damage may not be there yet. I have read that for children blood tests are highly unreliable, not sure if it is the same for biospy. Did you have an ELISA test done. They test for IgG and IgE if you want to pay for the allergy part. IgG is the intolerance part... -

ARCHIVED Who Knows What Their Genes Are?
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Seems to me that I had read that Dr. Fine set his limits where he did (maybe in part) due to favorable responses from individuals who removed gluten from their diet. My whole family that was positive tested between 10-14 which is low. My oldest son who was at 10.5 had mild malabsorption and is the one with double dq2. I assume at some point it would...
