  1. Rachel, Thanks for the appointment schedule. Carla, Keep us posted on the progress of getting ahold of your doctor for lyme testing. Gotta turn over the computer for just a little bit.....
  2. Laura, Talitha had HSP (Henoch-Scholein Purpura) in February and had elevated white blood count (pretty high I think). She has been fine since about April I think. She goes back to the kidney doctor in February to see if her numbers are still normal. We all suspect they will be. Can you still have eos if you don't have elevated blood count? ...
  3. Laura, I haven't said anything to the kids. They aren't that close to their grandpa. He's not real comfortable around young children and they only saw him once or twice a year for a very brief visit. They'll probably hear when I talk to Mitch about it. I'm going to hang tight and see if my mom can drum up any info. I do know that my dad can't be left...
  4. Congratulations to you all. That is something that not many people can boast about anymore.
  5. I would love to get down to see him. Just don't know that he wants us down there, especially since he hasn't told us how sick he is. I told both him and Joyce to let me know if I needed to come down, neither has said anything. Dad is usually up here this time of year to visit.
  6. Seth's nickname is Sunshine. Although he's getting more Stormy as he gets older and copies his older siblings.....he's still more sunshine than storm at this point though.
  7. Supposedly either it is too progressed to do chemo or my dad refused it, although I think my mom said it was too far progressed. He had cancer removed 5 years ago with the other kidney and has had cat scans but I guess nothing was caught.
  8. Alison..... Ok, for some seriousness. Just talked to my mom who got back from vacation this weekend. She talked to a friend down in Arizona who just happened to be over visiting my dad and his wife. My mom learned that dad has a tumor on his kidney. He's in a lot of pain, hence the meds. He's not coherant, sleeps a lot. His wife is upset that...
  9. Haven't talked to my father since the last time. I usually try to talk to him every week or two now. Hopefully he'll be more coherant next time. This has just made me realize that he's getting older, he's 78. Little girls daddies don't remain invincible forever do they. We are getting through with the intolerances. A lot of mine are just over into...
  10. How bout dark green or forest green?
  11. I just wanted to add my welcome Elaine. You've already gotten good advice. I may be wrong, but I believe most doctors and allergists don't pay much attention to intolerances (IgG, delayed reaction allergy), it's the immediate reaction (IgE) that they look at. Whether you go gluten free right now depends on what testing you want to pursue.
  12. I'm working on it too Rinne. Now if Seth would just cooperate. He's been teething lately....... I agree. Everyone contributes and this thread is ever evolving depending on what we all are going through at the time. I second that. Love fest time! This lady is laughing. Good idea Rinne. Not laughing at you, like the title and...
  13. I just went back and skimmed the article Rachel posted. Now I'm really curious. Mitch's dad died of ALS about 20 years ago. We had read that excitotoxins could play a part, now I'm wondering about Lyme. Will have to talk to Mitch and his mom. That's interesting that Lyme can spread among family members so easily. They also mentioned flea bites...
  14. Rinne, Yes, I believe you are tired due to the events of the week in Calgary and getting a diagnosis. You have been getting so little sleep (in my eyes) that it would seem you are finally allowing yourself to get some much needed rest. Rachel, How have things been with you? When's your next appointment? Carla, It certainly wouldn't hurt...
  15. Alison, Patti uses Polar Springs (or something like that) and I use Aquafina (when I need a new bottle). We bought a under the sink filter system that also filters fluoride. The Pur and Brita do ok. Depends on what you want to get rid of. The under sink system is $200-300. I forget. I can post the website if you are interested. Laura, Glad...
  16. The degrees come from beginnings of reactions/damage to a lot of damage. Not everyone has obvious symptoms to gluten. We didn't and now only have about a day of tummy/bowel distress and it's over. Others feel the effects of being glutened for a couple weeks or more. We are at the beginning of the spectrum.
  17. I'm going to copy some articles over that I had saved. Don't know if they will help or not. We went off soy before testing, so I can't help with effects. It is a bean though......
  18. Morning all! I agree, it has been a little quieter than normal. I spent my day on ebay looking for color coordinated stuff for pictures next weekend. We decided to take back what we had bought since we could do better online. Got Myself, Mitch and Micah taken care of. Still need to fight out the other two. Donna, No red meat. Whatever are...
  19. Woohoo! Your malabsorption numbers are great......all better. We won't talk about the other stuff.
  20. I think it plays a part but don't have any proof. My youngest who's only 11 months now seemed to get off to a slow start. I went totally gluten free when he was 6 months old. He took longer to roll over, sit up etc....but once he hit 7 months he was sitting up, crawling at 8-9 months and is starting to walk already. Don't really know about my oldest...
  21. Good to see you Ryan! You don't need to go anywhere else to talk about brain stuff. This is an ever evolving thread that deals with all our health concerns. We want to keep you safe. You are not a downer......quit thinking like that. You are our wonderful Susie Q, Susan, Dingogirl. We've missed you. I haven't played that game and...
  22. Take a 1/2-1 hour nap if need be.....be sure to set the alarm.
  23. I can just see you trying to train two dogs at a time. I know, it doesn't work that way. Correct me if I'm wrong.....it's been awhile since I was helping show dogs.......dogs lead on your left side right? Horses lead on our right side. Seems to me I remember dogs being different. Now you need to figure out class with work. That ought to...
  24. This isn't the same as the real thing but was our favorite vegan recipe. You can use the typical cinnamon, nutmeg instead of the coriander, cardomom. Pumpkin Pie - 2 from Country Cabin Cooking by Alison & Emily Waters 1/2 c cashews 3/4 c water 1/2 c dates 1 c boiling water 1 1/2c pumpkin puree 1/2 t salt 1 t vanilla 1/3 c honey 1 t coriander...
  25. Thanks. They look full grown already. Did you do obedience training with them?
