  1. I 've been gluten free for about 6 months now and have slowly been forgetting how bad I used to feel. I was recently glutened and couldn't believe how terrible (mentally) I felt. I instantly recognized it as how I grew up feeling but now it seemed so much worse because I had lived without this. When I get gluten I get this funky sort of paranoid feeling...
  2. Hi, I had all of your mom's symptoms except fibromyalgia. When celiac disease really kicked in, my vision got a little worse. The weird thing is that sometimes my vision seems better than at other times. So I would say that her vision could definiately be related to gluten. Sarah
  3. Thanks for the confirmation. This makes sense now. I get mental symptoms for 2-4 days before getting D.
  4. I think my kids were glutened accidentally at separate times based on their emmotional behavior and the fact that the big D started 2 days later. The reason I think there is a lag is because when I try to figure out what could have bothered them, I can only think of something they had 2 days prior. Does this make sense? Is this possible? I notice the...
  5. I have just made the red dye discovery with my 8 yr old ds! And I don't know if it is just red dye or all food colors in candy etc. For holidays and special occassions I let him have things with food coloring but in between I'm trying to substitute goodies that don't have food color. Interesting to see that someone else is noticing this too.
  6. I agree that you need to remove her immediately from this preschool. Many children do not have preschool experiences before kindergarten and do just fine socially. Especially since your daughter is bright, she will be able to focus on the social learning in kindergarten without struggling academically. As for what you should be doing with her while she...
  7. That is interesting that the casein and soy are affecting her mood. My children are casein free also, but they went cf at the same time as gluten-free, so I don't know how each one affects them independantly. I'll keep an eye on how mine react with soy also. Thanks! I'm so glad you found out about the celiac first before having him tested for ADHD...
  8. My 8 year old has only been gluten and casein free now for about 2 months. I do see some improvement in his attending and paying attention, but not much more. So I was just wondering if any of you have seen obvious mental changes for the better in your kids and how long it took? Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the recipe! I'm not good at guessing on amounts when it comes to cooking and baking. Can you tell me in teaspoons about how much xanthum gum to use? Thanks, Sarah
  10. I had been looking for them also and couldn't find them in any grocery store. I finally found them at my health food store but they were in the section with the vitamins, not the food. Ask at a health food store. They are not the same thing as the yeast you buy in the grocery store to make bread etc. Hope this helps! Sarah
  11. Hi, I'm sure that regular milk would work just fine. It is only because it is a CF site also that they probably make the substitution. She cuts them in four to put in her young child's lunch. I did it that way also, but was thinking of trying the whole hot dog also. I think it would work just as well. Sorry, I don't know of a substitution for the bean...
  12. Hi Everyone, I know I haven't been on the board lately. I have been trying to get over some pretty bad pain I was having in my right arm. Getting on the computer was making it worse. But it seems to be getting better now. I came across this recipe from Kathi at the followng website: Open Original Shared Link and made it for my kids. They LOVE them...
  13. I have seen a neurologist twice now. He keeps telling me he doesn't think it is neurological and to try putting heat on it. Well I did that and it made the pain worse. Sunday night the pain began in my other shoulder in addition. I went to the ER and got a doctor who said she thinks I have an inflamation that is pressing on the nerves that run down into...
  14. Ursula, I'm so glad you figured out what was causing your fibromyalgia and that you are sharing this with us. I see my symptoms in your post. Mine aren't as severe as yours were but I do notice that any activity causing a repetitive movement gives me pain for a long time afterward. And if I move just the slightest bit wrong, I get what feels like a pulled...
  15. Thank you. I haven't had pain in every place consistently, but I always have pain in about 3 places. Your post was very informative. You haven't been gluten free for very long, so there is definately hope that your fibromyalgia will lessen. I think the non-digestive symptoms take the longest to go away unfortunately. And, as Ursula mentioned, you might...
  16. I'm gluten and casein free and I am glad I don't have to give up CHOCOLATE (yet)
  17. Ursula, I have been gluten free since May of this year. But I didn't really have fibromyalgia symptoms until after going gluten free. It is kind of odd, but my celiac disease came upon me rapidly, so even though I went gluten free in May, I think the damage was still in the process of happening even though I had cut out gluten. Does this make sense? ...
  18. I think I may be getting fibromyalgia. I know many here have this or had it until they went gluten free. If your fibromyalgia only occurs after being glutened, how long do all the aches and pains last for you? I'm trying to figure out if my inflamation and muscle aches are still here from being glutened a week and a half ago, or maybe I am still getting...
  19. LKelly8 and Lymetoo, Thank you. I am feeling a little bit better about taking this now. I might try the mangosteen first.
  20. I was given a prescription for this for inflamed muscle tissue in my shoulders. After reading the warnings I am almost afraid to take it. If you have taken this, did you feel okay with it? Sarah
  21. Hi, No, my liver is fine. Just saw my neurologist again, and he doesn't believe that it is MS or anything neurological. After reading frustratedneicey's symptoms I don't think it is ms, but of course I still worry. My neurologist wants me to treat it with heating pads and maybe physical therapy first, and if this doesn't help he will do an MRI. However...
  22. Lara Bars, Some Lay's potato chips And, I too seem to react to many products that are labeled Gluten-Free. I am getting to the point where I am suspicious of any processed food. And I'm afraid to eat out anywhere.
  23. Hi, No, I'm definitely not there yet. But then again I have only been gluten free since May. Sounds like you have healed well and are doing great. Sarah
  24. Denise, Thank you for sharing this. I know since I went gluten free I have had some strange symptoms and I sometimes have wondered if it could be MS. I'm going back to my neurologist tomorrow. I don't think he is too knowlegable about celiac disease but I will discuss it with him again. Hugs, and take care. Sarah
