  1. I'm finishing my second advanced calc class. Time consuming, but worth it.
  2. Soy is a big, giant, hard-to-digest protein, as is casein. It may be that a lot of people don't digest it well, but don't get enough symptoms to be bothered by it. Many adults are lactose intolerant. You are designed to consume milk only as an infant, it's a recent mutation that allows the lactase enzyme to persist in adults.
  3. Y'all need to try a little harder to make 'pits' funny. Doesn't seem like it should be too much of a stretch....
  4. holy $#!T! Open Original Shared Link
  5. yogurt and hard cheese have very little lactose.....
  6. It's finally summer here! Got up to 90 today, and three days ago I was wearing a sweater . I've been slowly moving stuff back into my kitchen and cleaning it as I go. Gotta do homework. One more week of school, then off to Spain!
  7. If the GI couldn't give you reasons for having the biopsy, then why worry about it? I think docs get into the checklist mode of what should be done and stop thinking about why they should be doing it. If you aren't eating gluten, what will having a biopsy do for you? Any associated issues can be monitored without you eating gluten, and you wouldn't get...
  8. I have a kitchen!! The trim n stuff isn't done, but it's functional!!!
  9. Thanks for posting this. I also watched the Today Show gluten piece and found myself annoyed at the suggestion that eating gluten-free was potentially unhealthy because wheat products are fortified. Our whole society is messed up if we only look at the manufactured products, and think of them as food.
  10. I'm curious why you'd need an 'official' diagnosis?
  11. Can't imagine 1) having such an awful year book pic, and 2) putting it on the web for everyone to see. So not wanting to work. I want to spend the day in bed with my kitty, listening to him snore.
  12. Ooohh. A guy on the ferry this morning had brilliant orange hair, like a cartoon, you could try that.
  13. You can only edit for some period of time after you post (an hour? maybe more?) and there is no delete button. If you have written a post that has too much personal info and you want to delete it you can hit the report button at the bottom and explain why you would like it gone. Scott is the one who decides what stays or goes, but he's pretty reasonable...
  14. Hiking when I return from Spain. Already on the calendar. Max will be fine, and so will you. Boys never really grow up.
  15. Would I end up looking like Sam Manhead?
  16. Yes, I put my 45 year old belly on the internet.....without an attached face
  17. There should be some penalty for not posting in the silly thread for hours without a really good excuse.
  18. .....thanks.....Peter.....that helps.....
  19. We will totally figure out how to make this happen!! Having a non-starting day. Had to make myself a second pot of motivation.
  20. Enterolab has found that some genes are more highly associated with gluten sensitivity. I believe they base their definition of gluten sensitivity on the production of antigliadin antibodies produced in the gut and found through stool testing. What they don't have is associated clinical data saying that people who produce these antibodies feel better when...
  21. I don't know the exact wording Elab uses, but there are only genes associated with different responses to gluten. There are no genes defined as causative.
