  1. hidey ho reading, not posting. Fiddler is going well. We had a community caroling event yesterday that was way fun. Have a final on Wednesday so trying to study. Matinee today, then three more performances next weekend. Maybe then I'll be back to myself.
  2. I had results immediately, some people say it took weeks... I don't buy any specialty foods, just basic fruits, veggies and meats. If you think about it, the wheat based stuff is mainly cheap filler. You can skip the substitutes and be healthier for it.
  3. I can't tell you how much the blood tests would cost, but seriously, you don't need them. Change your diet and see if you feel better. What you eat is under your control. You will undoubtly get a variety of opinions on this, but mine is - why pay for something that you can do for free?
  4. :D I wasn't sure if it was too small to tell what it was.
  5. I tell them, if I'm asked, and make some joke about being high maintenance, or a pain in the @ss or something. Just enough so people know I'm not snubbing their dish.

    ARCHIVED Protein?

What are you eating instead of protein? If it's a lot of starchy carbs, then yes, protein will help.
  8. The SCD just seems so convoluted to me. Why don't you try an elimination diet to see if you can pinpoint some food, or class of foods that is making your symptoms worse?
  9. She must love you very much to work this hard at keeping you healthy.
  10. Always the best approach when dealing with men...
  11. Good luck with that. Let us know how it goes.
  12. No more so than barby (as in shrimp on the...)
  13. I understand your concern, but sometimes we have to to make a decision about who we trust. I would be more inclined to trust a trusted company over random strangers on the internet, however well-intentioned the strangers may be. You may react differently anyway, so the only solid way to know what you can and can't eat is to eat it once yourself, and find...
  14. You'll find that the answer is different for different people and different foods. I can tolerate NO soy protein, but some small amount of corn. I may have issues with dairy, but rarely eat enough to notice.
  15. But you can eat those things, just not at home - right?
  16. That's a really complex question and I doubt that anyone has ever studied it. I would guess you are hungry because your body doesn't yet feel like it's regained itself. Eat whenever you're hungry, but choose veggies and lean protein. May not help with the weight issue, but those are the best source of good nutrients.
  17. Glad to hear that Miss Amelia is continuing to encourage you to buy a proper bed. She's doing it for your own good, you know.
  18. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOZZZZZZEEEEE!!!!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY !!!

  20. I was there last month. I'm not really a restaurant person, but I had no trouble finding food in the grocery stores. Loved the taro chips, lau lau, and fruits. Watch out for the soya, it's in a lot of stuff.
  21. hmmm. I guess I don't really have references, it's just part of my education. I did a quick google search on 'immune system' and the first three hits seem like they'd be pretty readable: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link This is how an ELISA works: Open Original Shared Link If you look through all the...
  22. First, there is no difference between 86 and 88 - the tests aren't that precise. Second, what they measure is the antibody against gliadin. Antibodies can circulate in your body for months, and every time you ingest gliadin (a specific piece of the gluten protein) you will 1) reinforce the cells that have learned to make anti-gliadin antibodies, and ...
  23. when you "reply" there are a number of buttons. One of them is the 'insert image' button. Just re-read your post. Can you post your pics on flickr or facebook or something?
  24. One of the women in the production was telling us that she never wears makeup, and, therefor, never has cause to stare at her face for long periods of time. She said she started putting her makeup on and suddenly spit out 'Good God what happened???' She had no idea where all that droopy, wrinkly skin came from. One of the reasons I resisted wearing...
  25. seriously! Anything with enough goo to fall out the bottom is something I want to be making!
