  1. I don't know anything specific about the gut, but I can tell you that you are a compilation of your genes, not just the ones specific to the disease or organ that you are considering. One of the proteins I study, TLR4, is used by the immune system to allow your body to respond to certain bacteria. There are a couple of polymorphisms (mutations) that exist...
  2. You can still try the gluten-free diet, after your biopsy. It will do you no harm and if you feel better, you have one answer.
  3. Is diabetes a disease? Is lactose intolerance a disease? Is phenylketonuria a disease?

  5. me too. I'd rather give out candy, but it's kind of rural where I am and I sit around all night eating candy waiting for someone to knock. There are no streetlights, no sidewalks, and, being the northwest in winter, it's usually raining, or has just rained so only the kids who's costumes include rainboots are out on my street.
  6. I think the new health food store on Bainbridge might carry it, which means it will cost much more than it would anywhere else. (Pricey store, not pricey island.)
  7. yf=yerky free? Can I apply that to people as well as food? "I'm sorry, you've just exceeded my 'yerk' tolerance levels - you'll have to leave"
  8. hmm, I was enjoying the image of Tom having eaten enough yeti meat in his lifetime to actually be able to develop an allergy to it.
  9. yf?? y... y... yellow free? ... yam free? yeti free? are you allergic to yeti meat?
  10. 4 doctors go out duck hunting: A general practitioner, a gynecologist, a surgeon, and a pathologist. A duck flies into the air in front of them. The gp doesn't shoot because he can't identify it positively as a duck The gyne doesn't shoot because he isn't sure if it's a male or a female The surgeon blasts the duck out of the air, turns to the pathologist...

  13. I would think up to two weeks. And sometimes things combined can cause reactions.
  14. Support to all of you. I don't see any sense in posting my food, since it's become so limited, but I love reading what other people get to eat Since I'm down to basically fruits, veggies and fish, I find myself constantly hungry, so I stuff myself. I'm still losing weight, but about 2 pounds per month.
  15. Stop eating everything except white rice and chicken. If you feel fine on this, start adding back things, one per week and watch carefully for any reactions. If you don't feel fine on rice and chicken, swap out fish for the chicken and see if that helps, if not, swap out some other grain for the rice. If that doesn't help either, stop eating grains and...
  16. please do explain the difference between these two statements?
  17. Consider yourself whapped upside the head with a big ol' salmon! Are you nuts!! You've finally cleared enough residual antibodies out of your system that you don't have a heinous response when you've eaten gluten and you want to RETURN to "OMG I kissed my honey after he licked an envelope" levels of paranoia by filling your body back up with antibodies...
  18. I'd like to point out that Tiffany had to CLIMB A MOUNTAIN to get to snow. For those of us in the lowlands, it's puddles up to our shins from all the rain.
  19. Open Original Shared Link may be offensive to some viewers
  20. Hi Michelle, If you aren't digesting properly you could be seeing what you had for lunch or dinner the day before. You could always try eating nothing but white food for a couple days and see what happens
  21. They do scopes on anyone that they need more info on. If nothing specific shows up on xrays, cat scan, mri etc, they'll do a scope so they can look at the tissue and see if anything looks abnormal.
  22. My guess would be that you had a technician who is legally not allowed to offer any medical interpretation and thought s/he was being funny.
