  1. Although we hate doing that, so you get a lot of reminders before you get that third warning. We try to make sure a person is deliberately disobeying rules, as opposed to making mistakes.
  2. If you feel that a moderator (or anyone) is being inappropriate via messaging, then you should report that person, either to another moderator, or to admin.
  3. Consider it a reminder. Different forums have different rules; the one that most people miss here is 'don't promote your blog site'. Now when you log in you'll easily see that you have a reminder in your warn status and remember that this is a "no blog zone". Since there are no repercussions for a warning, I'm not sure why you would feel that it's harsh...
  4. Don't even bring in the plane. Just tell them it's a work thing.

    ARCHIVED What Rums Are Ok?

hmmm. It would also dissolve any gluten in the glass into which it was poured, the spoon, the blender, etc. You'd have to be pretty meticulous, especially if in a shared household, or just starting out, to keep the rum from liberating old gluten from surfaces.
  6. I avoid the topics. Not everyone is so considerate... The BI folk have a hotel and can escape, within reason. The Texans are intelligent, and educated. I like them a lot, and politics rarely comes up when we talk. If it does, it's a casual, well reasoned discussion. My mom has serious memory issues and can bring up the same topic several times before...
  7. Here's my upcoming family drama. My sister, who hasn't spoken to any of us in, oh, ten years or so, just emailed that she'll be at my parents' house for Thanksgiving. Along with my brother and his daughter, my aunt, and my B and SIL from TX.Most of us haven't seen these people since my bro's wedding in Italy (4 years ago?) Parents and texans are hard...
  8. It's far enough away that she could cancel without penalty. Have hubby email all the relatives and say how much he wants to see them, but he's limited to these dates. How many people would be able to do any, or all of those dates?
  9. We're all stupid starting out. It's the only way to learn.
  10. I put some on da book. Seuss has blue ears, and a mulberry colored comb.
  11. Not me. I'm heading straight for the chocolate and counting on the glucose factor to see me through.
  12. Here's to your next 30 or 40 years of good health.
  13. I suppose jewelry is impractical in the coop, and flowers would just be eaten anyway. Dropping corn kernels, and morning serenades is the best he can do.
  14. My good little roo will find the tasty bits in the pile of veggie scraps that I put in the pen, one at a time pick them up and drop them near the hens with a gentle 'cluck cluck cluck cluck' noise. When one of the girls snaps it up he'll go find another piece and start again.
  15. Me too, car washes, rummage sales at the school, the October Carnival..., - all group activities, all involving parents. No little salesmen.
  16. And don't buy dry fruit dusted with white powder - it's flour.
  17. I would just try to skip bread products all together. Stick to meat, veggies, rice, that sort of thing.
  18. I guess that's another possibility. Maybe it would at least open discussions.
  19. What Roda and Neroli said about the testing. Each number is relative to it's own standards, so if the number is higher than the baseline they give you (2, for most of yours) then it's considered positive. Removing things one at a time is a good approach. Gluten is a very common offender, and those tests are considered more sound, so it makes sense...
  20. First question is, do you really want these results in your medical file? If so, next time you ask, and she refuses, ask her to sign (your pre-prepared, dated) statement that you specifically requested these tests, based on these symptoms, and she refused. I'm guessing that will get you your tests.....
  21. That's pretty appalling. How about they have to get straight A's to attend the party? Is it a school? or a factory?
  22. Put a big NO!! sign on your door? Buy a tape of vicious dog barking sounds? Tell them you only support car washes, or other activities where no one but the 'good cause' gets the money? I don't buy things from kids. I think it's a bad idea for all kinds of reasons.
  23. Most people with "just gluten intolerance" get really really sick when they eat gluten - any gluten. I would suggest you spend a month being as scrupulously gluten-free as possible, then see what happens when you ignore crumbs. That will be your answer.
  24. I heard Dolly Parton one time on a talk show talking about her secret for a long marriage. She said "sometimes you just have to get away. last time I had to go all the way to California"
  25. And you need to stop this "I would have given you pizza, but mommy made you vegetables" thing right now. If he can't support you in front of the kids, then he gets time out, and no dinner. And if the kids want pizza, they're going to start early in the morning making the bread dough, and do the whole thing themselves (ok, you can work the oven and the...
