  1. If you think you are celiac and being you are pregnent I would go gluten free imediatly. I did not know I was celiac and my second baby was born at 6 months gestation due to this disease.....they said my body wasn't obsorbing enough nutrients to sustain her. You need to start absorbing nutrients as soon as possible. Congradulations on the new baby!
  2. Thanks....any help would be great!!!
  3. I am going to have to go explain this whole celiac thing to my daughters preschool. They have already said that the nutritionist would provide her the right food. But they also seemed to think we were nuts when we gave them a brieve explanation earlier this year. I have heard that paints and playdos can have gluten in them. Does anyone know of some gluten...
  4. Congradulations!!! Both times I was pregnent I told I could only take the normal does of tylonal. I donno if that brand is gluten free or if any others are. You could see abaout a generic and allot of people make a generic.
  5. Hi.....our family has just gone gluten free. I have learned an increadable amount of stuff from this website but thought it would be nice for our girls to meet some people outside of the family who eat like they do. Some of our extended family our also celiacs but we only see them a few times a year. I also could use some advice finding gluten free foods...
  6. Open Original Shared Link It is a program that allows you to check whether a food or beuty product is gluten free. You can purchase a program for you computer or your pda. You can add a scanner to your pda to be able to just scan the product you are checking without typing it in.
  7. My family uses Equal wich you can get in baking pkgs. as well. My grandma makes all kinds of things....my favorite being her apple pie with this and nobody can tell that it was not made with sugar.
  8. I HATE winter as well. I have always gotten sarcastic comments from family and friends about me being so cold. Even in the summer I am cold. I live in Iowa....in the winter we range all the way below zero to around 100 in the summer. I to have problems with cracking skin. In the winter my hands just bubble up blood. I have only found one lotion that...
  9. Ok...thanks.
  10. Way to go!!! Thanks for speaking up! I did not know this but it's a bummer not all food companies seem to be following these laws.
  11. I would say that 9 weeks may be a bit early to show. I went in with my last pregnancy at 8 weeks and was not showing yet. I would say I noticbly showed more around 5 months but my pants started getting tighter around 3 months or so. Everybody is different.
  12. Well after doing some of my own research I was wondering if it is possible I am IGA deficiant. I have had a long history of infections and resperatory illnesses like pnemonia 3x....I have had reacurrent sininitis that was treated for over a year with antibiotics ending only with surgery. I have currently had another infection for over two years with being...
  13. I am 24 and have had pnemonia 3x. In 5th 8th and 12th grades. I had a shot after my epesode in 8th grade but still got it one more time leaving me gasping for air with a trip to the er and then admission. I donno if there is a link or not. It would be interesting to know though.
  14. I e-mailed the company that makes Mrs. Buttersworth this morning and this is the response I got. Bad news is my favorite syrup has gluten but looks like they make on that is gluten free. I hope this helps. Thank you for taking the time to inquire about Pinnacle Foods Corporation and the products we produce which might be gluten-free. We appreciate...
  15. Under Test Name it say Endomysial Antibody SCR (IGA) W/REFL TO TETER.
  16. I had blood tests done about a week ago. I asked for the results and they sent me a copy in the mail. I was disapointed to find that they only checked for IGA and gave me no numbers.....it just says negative under the words In Range and Reference Range. How sensitive and how accurate is this test?
  17. As you stated it can be a side effect. This last time I was on the pill it made my stomach upset.....it took about three months for my system to get used to taking it. I always felt nausus. I would tell your doc that the pill is making you sick and ask for a different script......there are quite a number of different pills out there. I hope you start...
  18. They DO make gluten free wafers. My grandmother has them at her church.
  19. It's the law.....they HAVE to give YOU the test results!!!!!! Well in the US anyways!
  20. Holy crap that is allot of juice. The ped is right when saying no more than 8oz. One way to make it go further is to water it down. My daughter use to take it 50/50. To much juice can cause diareah. The juice that appeared to be the worst for her was apple juice though I don't know why.
  21. We always used cream a chicken soup in a number of meals. I looked at the grocery store with no luck of finding any that was gulten free. We have a section in one grocery store that has gluten free soups such as tomatoe but not what I was looking for. Does anyone know of any brands (mainstream brands would be helpfull) if there are any. Or maybe a way...
  22. I've now thought about this overnight and discussed it briefly with my husband. The diet sounds like a good idea but I am worried that if there really is a problem with celiac that I would continue doing damage becaue I would be tempted not to follow the diet near as stricktly as I would with an official diagnoses. I already said well I won't bother with...
  23. LOL.....thanks I needed a good laugh today! Never thought about that......luckily as far as I know we grow no wheat....I hope! It's corn and beans around hear. Of course I am allergic to the corn pollen.....geesh.
  24. I live in Wheatland Iowa wich is near both cedar rapids and the quad cities (eastern iowa). I only know of one reliable doctor in Iowa and he is in Anamosa.
  25. Thank you everybody. I think I may see what the diet does.
